Dear Servant of the Lord:
Greetings in the Precious Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
I am very thankful for the National Convention in Surrey, B.C. Thank-you Rev. Gwen Dreger
and committee for putting together a great Convention. Thank-you, I. A. O. G. I. (Canada) for
acclaiming Anna Mae and I to continue to serve as General Secretary. We consider it an
extraordinary privilege to be yoked together with Spirit-baptized men and women aflame with a
passion for Jesus and called to lead His Church in this hour.
USING THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
1 Peter 4: 10 “As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God’s
varied grace.” RSV
God is a great giver. He has given us His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Saviour, Teacher, Friend,
Lord and Helper. God has also given us the Holy Spirit to dwell within us and enable, empower
us to do God’s work. The Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost to accomplish a
number of significant purposes. He came to identify Jesus Christ as the risen, living Lord and
Messiah. He was given to unite the followers of Christ into a living body in which Christ could
dwell and continue his work of redemption in the world. The Holy Spirit was given to identify
the church to the Jewish people as the new Israel through whom God would carry forward his
eternal redemptive purpose. He was given to enable and to empower the church to succeed in
preaching the gospel to the ends of the earth. He was given to impart and to plant the
confession “Jesus Christ is Lord” at the very center of every person’s being. The Holy Spirit
was given to produce within each believer the nature and character and personality of Jesus
Christ as he is permitted to produce his fruit.
While the Holy Spirit is the great gift of God to each believer, the Scriptures teach us that the
Holy Spirit imparts spiritual gifts to every member of the church that each one might fulfill the
function God has for him or her.

THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
References to the variety of gifts of the Holy Spirit for ministering in the church and through
the church to the world are listed in several different books of the New Testament.
Paul listed some of the gifts of the Spirit in his letter the church at Rome. Romans 12: 3 – 8.
One of the major sections on the gifts of the Spirit is chapters 12 – 14 of Paul’s First letter to the
Corinthians. Love is identified as the supreme gift of the Spirit.
In the letter to the Ephesians Paul lists more gifts of the Spirit. Ephesians 4: 11, 12.
THE NATURE OF THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
The gifts of the Spirit are all “Grace Gifts.” They are bestowed by the Holy Spirit, rather than
merited or earned for outstanding service. They may take the form of talents, but in reality they
are gifts from the Holy Spirit.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are functional gifts. The gifts of the Spirit are not like decorative
ornaments to be worn or boxes of candy to be enjoyed. Rather, they enable believers to
minister as the body of Christ and are intended to produce harmony and effectiveness in service.
1 Corinthians 14: 4.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are primarily for the congregation, that is, for the good of the
church. 1 Corinthians 14: 12. This is not to imply that the individual is not edified or built up
by receiving a gift from the Holy Spirit.
The gifts of the Holy Spirit are his sovereign gifts. “But it is one and the same Spirit who does
all of this; as he wishes, he gives a different gift to each person.” 1 Corinthians 12: 11 TEV.
To every believer there is given a gift from the Holy Spirit. “So we are to use our different gifts
in accordance with the grace God has given to us.” Romans 12: 6 TEV. So far as we can
observe, the Scriptures teach that each believer has received at least one gift from the Holy
Spirit.
DISCOVERING AND USING YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFT
How are we to be certain concerning our spiritual gifts? Is there a way by which we can
discover our spiritual gifts?
We should study the scriptural lists of the gifts of the Spirit and then examine ourselves
sincerely and honestly to see if we have some talents, gift, or inclination that would indicate that
-3-
God has placed upon us the blessing and the burden of a particular gift
We should experiment in acts of faith in the direction we feel led, trusting the Spirit for
guidance. We can do this by identifying needs about us that we believe we can meet and then
do what we can to meet those needs. We may discover that we have the gift after we have met
a particular need.
We should examine our spiritual satisfactions. If we get a particular joy out of doing a certain
type of Christian ministry, it could be that we are working in the area in which the Holy Spirit
has given us a gift.
We should evaluate our effectiveness in service. Certainly it would follow that if we cannot
carry a tune, we do not have the gift of singing solos or being a part of a singing group. The
gifts of the Spirit are for the building up of the church. If what we attempt to do does not build
up the church, that it probably follows that is not an area in which we have a gift.
Recognize the affirmations of other believers. Many times others who are more mature in the
faith will recognize your gifts before you do. When others commend you for a service that is
rendered, they may be giving you a clue concerning what your gift is.
Servant of the Lord there is a gift or gifts that the Holy Spirit has given to you in order that you
might be a living, vital, functioning part of the body of Christ. May God bless you and use you
greatly as you recognize and respond to the gifts or gifts the Holy Spirit has given you for
ministering in the world.
Your servant in Christ,
Rev. Paul McPhail

with his father, an international evangelist to India. His testimony is that at 14 he preached a
sermon and 33,000 souls were saved. An example of the younger generation stepping into the
call of God to preach the Gospel to the nations.

Pentecostal Charismatic Churches of North America
PCCNA ANNUAL MEETING, PREQUEL TO EMPOWERED21
Tulsa, OK - Ministry leaders from members of the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North
America met in Tulsa for an inspiring and challenging time of prayer, fellowship, and planning
on April 8, 2010. Chairman Jeff Farmer planned and coordinated the event to advance
camaraderie among the movements of the Spirit. A sweet spirit permeated the meetings, leaving
participants pleased to be part of something larger than their individual ministries. CoChairperson Bishop Jerry Macklin challenged the gathering to become a part of God’s larger
world. An insightful session on Multiple Styles of Leadership Development was presented by
Dr. Paul Leavenworth, The Convergence Group, and moved thoughts to the essential theme of
Emerging Leaders in the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement. Billy Wilson, chair of the
Commission on Holy Spirit Empowerment in the 21st Century welcomed the PCCNA, one of
several endorsers of Empowered21, to Tulsa and the Congress and spoke of his conversations
around the world on the state of the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement. President Ron Luce,
Founder of Teen Mania met with the leaders and relayed his passion for the youth of America,
offering to partner with Spirit-filled groups in reaching their students. Bishop James Leggett,
Chairman of the Pentecostal World Fellowship, greeted the group, expressing the need for
American Pentecostals to be well represented in the upcoming Pentecostal World Conference in
Stockholm. Rev. Charles Lambert, representing the American Bible Society, shared ABS’s shift
from a focus on Bible distribution to Bible reading, offering tools to encourage Americans to
read the Bibles they already possess.
The PCCNA strategic plan, identified by five strategic emphases in the acrostic “POWER,” was
-7-
refined: Pentecostal Celebration, Organizational Structure, Widening the Witness, Emerging
Leaders, and Racial Reconciliation. Discussion groups focused on how PCCNA can influence
society for Christ through these strategies.
PCCNA is committed at each annual gathering to leave the city where it meets better than
before. This year, Rev. Steve Whitaker of Tulsa’s John 3:16 Mission was presented a gift of
$1,000 for ministry to the hungry and homeless.
Highlighting the meeting was the release of the PCCNA edited book, Servants of the Spirit,
Portraits of Pentecostal/Charismatic Pioneers. The book is a collection of short biographies
and inspiring testimonies of the founders of member denominations and organizations. Dr. Jack
Hayford, who wrote the masterful foreword for the book, was present. One of the fathers of the
PCCNA, Dr. Hayford expressed appreciation of the book and his gratitude for the opportunity
to write the foreword. The subjects of the book’s 22 chapters make it a compelling analysis of
both the history of the streams of Pentecost and how God moves through people today. No
study of the worldwide Pentecostal/
Charismatic movement would be complete without this book. For more information, contact
Open Bible Churches, (515) 288-6761 or [email protected].
The PCCNA grew out of the Memphis Miracle in 1994 where mostly white and black
Pentecostal/Charismatic organizations came together for a time of miraculous healing and
commitment toward unity. The purpose of the PCCNA is to provide a framework for
fellowship, dialogue, and cooperation between the various Pentecostal and charismatic
denominations, churches, and ministries in North America that agree with the purposes and
goals of the organization. Since these churches and fellowships share a common history of Holy
Spirit renewal and an overriding goal of evangelizing the world, they wish to join in a common
witness to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all flesh in the last days. – Clyde M. Hughes,

SERVA$TS OF THE SPIRIT:
Portraits of Pentecostal/Charismatic Pioneers
Desperate to know God and save sinners, these Acts 2 pioneers changed their world. They were
surrendered men and women of faith who dared to obey God. Some were elegant, some were
rugged. Some educated; some not. But all were evangelists and church planters. All birthed
church movements. Persecuted, ridiculed, and assaulted, they were apostolic in calling and
character. They were servants of the Spirit!
Though not without fault, these leaders’ legacies linger in the movements they initiated. A
collection of short biographies and inspiring testimonies of the founders of
Pentecostal/Charismatic movements, Servants of the Spirit: Portraits of
Pentecostal/Charismatic Pioneers allows these movements, each in their own way, to tell the
stories of their beloved forefathers and mothers.
The book also includes an account of the historical Memphis Miracle, written by Dr. Vinson
Synan, and a comprehensive, compelling foreword by Dr. Jack Hayford.
The subjects of the book’s 22 chapters make it a compelling analysis of the history of the
streams of Pentecost and of the ways in which God moves through people in modern times. No
study of the worldwide Pentecostal/Charismatic movement would be complete without this
book. OBC Publishing is releasing Servants of the Spirit: Portraits of Pentecostal/Charismatic

PRAIRIE FIRE
In April 2008, Pastor Terry and Shelly Severson accepted the invitation to lead the congregation
of the Apostolic Church in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. What began as an adventure in leading
people seeking strong leadership and clear direction eventually led to a year of building a
foundation for renewal. Now, signs of revival have appeared and the congregation is welcoming
to its services people from other communities .
After seven months in Assiniboia, evaluating the spiritual climate of the church and community,
Pastor Terry was beginning to feel that there was a missing element. Almost from the first day
of his tenure he had said the task before him was one of bringing revival. As often happens, the
fear of the unknown and comfort of the familiar was immobilizing the flock. Something had to
happen, and soon, if the new pastor was going to continue to minister.
That 'something' began to happen in November 2008, when the Seversons and some members
of the congregation attended a service in Saskatoon conducted by Pastor Steve Gray of the
World Revival Church (WRC) of Kansas City, MO. Terry experienced the power of the Holy
Spirit anew and, as he puts it, laid his old self on the altar resolving never to let it come to life
again. Within weeks, the 'new' Pastor Terry was in Kansas City, seeking fresh fire for his
ministry. The Seversons returned to Assiniboia more determined than ever to see revival in their
town.
-10-
A group of youth and adults attended a conference conducted by WRC the following March.
From the beginning, it was evident that nothing could ever be the same again. The group
experienced the power of God as never before. Pastor Terry was overcome during one service
and spent two hours on his face before the Lord. During that time, God revealed His desire to
show His love to the youth of the nation of Canada. How that would be accomplished would
soon be made evident.
As the group returned home, the young people approached their Pastor and told him that they
had been made dissatisfied with their experience of worship. They wanted more. They
confessed that they could no longer bear to wait between Sundays for the opportunity for
corporate worship. Within two weeks the church began its Thursday evening Revival Services.
God has been seen to move powerfully in these meetings. The youth have taken an active
interest and participate fully. At every service, it is the young adults who populate the front
seats of the sanctuary.
Another pilgrimage to WRC early in 2010 has led to deeper commitment. Lives have been
changed. In the past year, 24 people have come back to the Lord. Others have made first-time
decisions. Individuals are coming to God and making true heart-felt connections with the
Father. The prayer is that the wild fires of revival will sweep across this land and that God will
receive all the honour and praise.
Bob Scott Associate Pastor of Assiniboia Apostolic Church,
where he shares ministerial responsibilities with Terry Severson Pastor.
PROPHETIC WORD
April 26, 2010
Hear My People! Hear what the Word of the Lord is saying today! I am beginning to cleanse
the land of idols. Idols are everywhere—in every land. There are idols of sports; idols of homes;
idols of people; idols of money—all kinds of idols.
People listen! You must not have any gods before Me. You must put Me first in your lives. Rid
yourselves of all idols in your lives and in your hearts. Repent and I will forgive you, because I
am cleansing the land and indeed the nations of their idols. Watch and see what I am going to
do, says the Lord.
I love you, My people. That is why I am warning you, so that you will not come under
judgment.
I am coming soon, My people, and you need to heed My voice and be obedient, and I will be
with you and protect you.
-11-
I am sending certain angels into the world now to cleanse it of idolatry, so it is important that
you heed My words and My voice.
Focus on Me—the Alpha and the Omega, and not the things of the world and I will give you
rest for your souls even in turbulent times, and yes, there will be turbulent times ahead.
Focus on Me—the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, and I will protect you—I will be your protection.
Focus on Me—the Prince of Peace, and I will give you peace. When you focus on the things of
the world, you will have no peace, because you have put Me aside.
Whatever your main focus is, that is what you receive—when you focus on negative things you
will get negative results, but when you focus on the positive things, you get positive results.
Focus on Me My children, and not worthless idols, and I will bless you and protect you. I am
with you always.

$ATIO$AL CO$VE$TIO$ REPORT 2010 SURREY BRITISH COLUMBIA
The National Convention was held in Surrey BC May 3-6th, 2010. Many came from across the
country of Canada to enjoy the fellowship. We were not disappointed.
Rev Paul McPhail, General Secretary spoke on Gold Medal Ministry on the opening night. In
that service he called up those who had been credentialed in the last 5 years. A large
representation came forward. God is still calling men and women to ministry and they are still
saying yes.
Dr. Mike Brown was speaker Tuesday through Thursday evenings. He expanded on Gold
Medal Ministry in his messages.
During the Convention there were also workshops on Communication – Rev Paul McPhail and
Finances – Rev David Ellyatt, and Dr Mike Brown had an in depth workshop on Excellence in
Gold Medal Ministry.
Thursday morning the business session was conducted. Rev Paul McPhail was acclaimed as
General Secretary. The Regional Secretaries remain the same. The Editor of the Canadian
Mantle remains Rev Anna Mae McPhail. Changes to the compassion fund were made.
Thank you to the Regional Secretaries for their hard work in the regions. The fruit of this
labour for the Lord is evident by the new direction and expansion many regions are
-12-
experiencing. The vision of the members of this Fellowship is being extended as we go
forward together in Jesus Name to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nation of Canada.
We are not retreating we are expanding. We are experiencing the favour of God.
The last evening there was communion served by the Regional Secretaries to the congregation.
Each evening the altar services were of special anointing and impartation.
We praise God for one of the finest Conventions in British Columbia and we say thank you to
Rev Gwen Dreger, Regional Secretary Southern British Columbia, and the many ministers,
churches and helpers who assisted in the hosting of this Convention. The work and effort we
appreciate.
We give special mention of the hospitality that was displayed by British Columbia to the people
who were registered and stayed at the Hotel. We were touched by this generosity and
helpfulness. What a blessing you were to the Independent Assemblies of God International
(Canada) ministers.
Mrs. Iwona Szczepancki ordained to the ministry
at the convention. Her husband Rev Richard Szczepancki stands to her right.
GOD'S DIVI$E I$TERVE$TIO$
In October of 2009, my wife Bonnie's mother took very sick and they had to put her into a
nursing home in New Brunswick. We live in Cranbrook BC so to fly her there is expensive.
We prayed and said " Lord do not take her home until Bonnie has a visit” . We asked this prayer
so we could save and send her then. After this prayer her health got better and we could plan on
sending Bonnie in January.
-13-
I was asking God how we are going to pay for this and we got a phone call from her brother in
Lethbridge. He was planning to go in November with air miles. I contacted air miles and we
had enough points we could send her twice, so we booked her for January 17th 2010.
My wife's health requires me to be her caregiver as well as her husband, which is a blessing to
have this dual role. The situation is though that with our Wings as Eagles Ministry and
caregiver I have no quite time and this can be very stressful at times.
So my plan was to have my wife go and visit her mother and family for 3 weeks, this would
give me a respite. As I said my plan are not God’s plan, He had another plan for me.
After Church on Sunday January 17th we drove from Cranbrook to Calgary, Bonnie was
scheduled to fly out on the 18th. My family live in Calgary so we stayed with them which, was
part of God's plan.
Bonnie's flight was leaving at 7:00 a.m. We had her at the airport at 5:30 am. We checked her
in as well as her luggage then we went to Tim Horton's for a breakfast sandwich. At 6:00 a.m I
took her to the check in section, we gave each other a big kiss and hug. She went with her cane
down to the handicap section.
I was standing there watching her and the Glory of the Lord came all over me. I started
weeping for my wife, this weeping was so intense that I wanted to run after, but I did not want
to set off the bells and whistles. So I watched her go through the first set of security weeping
intensely.
I kept saying Lord what are you doing to me? Turned around and started to leave the airport.
The tears were flowing, I could not stop them. So instead of relaxing and enjoying the quite
time I started to really miss Bonnie, it was going to be along 3 weeks.
I sat in my van at the airport for about a few minutes crying out to the Lord what are you doing
to me? I gained my composure and headed back to my parents, where I was going to spend
the next 2 days.
The glory of the Lord stayed imparted upon me for the entire day, I have never experienced
this before. I spent the entire day visiting with my parents and we had a great time. At supper
my mother commented how they really enjoyed the visit. Mom said Ron, every time you come
to Calgary you have this meeting or that meeting to attend we really never visit. This was God
plan and that is why his glory was still upon me. I kept missing Bonnie more and more
throughout the remainder of the night.
I woke up in morning and God gave me Ephesians 5:25 ''Husbands love your wife as Christ
loves the church"
-14-
God then showed me the interpretation of this scripture for me.
1) I AM WILLING TO SACRIFICE EVERYTHING FOR HER AS I WILLING TO
SACRIFICE EVERYTHING FOR MY CHURCH.
2) YOU ARE MAKING HER WELL BEING OF PRIMARY IMPORTANCE AS I DO FOR
THE CHURCH.
3) YOU CARE FOR HER AS I CARE FOR THE CHURCH.
I had another great visit with my Parents and left for Cranbrook the next day. All the way
home all I could think of was Bonnie and how much I miss her. He then showed me how he
has imparted a deeper love for my wife.
On that weekend I was officiating at a wedding and I announced what God has done for me, I
prayed that over the couple. Then I said I would give up our ministry and stay at home than put
my wife in a nursing home. God's glory came over me again and he showed me how now I
have his order right. GOD - FAMILY - MINISTRY not GOD - MINISTRY - FAMILY. I have
had mentors and spiritual advisors tell me to make sure I put family first, but I know I did not.
When you get this kind of an impartation from God you have no choice.
With God's impartation upon me with Bonnie, we have no more stress or arguments, we have
peace and my blood pressure is normal. PRAISE GOD.
Also with our life and ministry in proper order God's blessings and favour has increased upon
us. PRAISE GOD.

GOI$G FOR THE GOLD
Running to Win
This fall Kell will be 61 and I will be 59. It still feels strange to think of ourselves as senior
citizens, but that’s what we are, with all the grey hair and wrinkles to prove it. Usually people
think of retirement at this stage of life, especially if there are health issues, but after much
prayer and consideration, Kell and I feel we want to spend our latter years in full-time ministry
in India.
Actually this has been the desire of our hearts for many years. We have been self-supporting
since 1994, using our business and the sale of our home to provide funding for our trips abroad.
-15-
It hasn’t been easy. As anyone who has tried to run an international ministry can tell you, it is
difficult to keep on top of things when you live thousands of miles away. By God’s grace, the
ministry has not only continued, but it has prospered and expanded.
We are very grateful to our wonderful Board members, sponsors, donors, staff, and volunteers
who have made it possible. Yet our hearts yearn to see more happen. Kell has a dream to start a
Bible School and that would require his full attention and focus as he works closely with
students. And I have always wanted to rescue ‘throw-away” babies and help destitute women,
both of which would require much organization and lots of hard work.
And of course we also greatly desire to see the children in the Homes go to college and
hopefully become future staff members and leaders in the ministry. They will need our guidance
and direction. So, as you can see, we have BIG dreams and these fill us with excitement and
energy, in spite of the fact that we are in the latter stage of our lives.
Nevertheless we are not at the end of the race and we want to run so as to win the grand prize –
the Gold of Jesus Christ’s affirming words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Actually
our race is more of a relay team event with the passing of the baton from one runner to the next.
We don’t run alone.
We need your prayers, encouragement, and support if we are to see the fulfillment of the desires
of our hearts for this ministry. And the children and pastors of India need the same if they are to
rise above poverty and oppression in their lives. We all need each other as we run in this race
together.

THE RACE SET BEFORE US
Lauren Woolstencroft was born with no legs below the knee and no left arm, but even as a
young child she was determined to overcome her physical challenges. She practiced skipping
rope until she could do it, displaying a drive and perseverance that helped push her to win 5
-16-
alpine gold medals at the Winter Paralympics. Woolstencroft’s five medals make her the most
decorated female athlete in a single Winter Paralympics. During the 34-year history of the
Winter Paralympics only seven women have won four gold medals.
The Apostle Paul used Olympic imagery to describe the Christian life. He said he had finished
the race and fought the good fight and he was satisfied that he had run well. So may we also run
our race with courage and fortitude, never giving up no matter how difficult the course.

Soon the last and final call will be aired to the populace. Be not misled my friends the warnings
are coming through from many very authentic sources. Be Prepared.
The enemy seems to be more ferocious than ever, many godly things are being stopped in their
tracks but the tough and prepared scatter the disaster level of disturbance and press on toward
the mark. 2009 in Prayer Canada has seen God bring us through quick sand, marsh, muskeg
and cross into operating on all 12 cylinders.
In January our $10,000 overdraft just went over the top as we paid all our bills. Then I realized
this has never happened before what are we going to do about it? I began to worry when the
Lord seemed to speak so clearly. You carry on with the work I can change this financial
problem in the twinkling of an eye. It was so real, I just carried on with the work and about one
week later I brought the mail home as usual and Kathie helped open the several letters and sure
enough a cheque for $1000, she kept looking no it’s $10,000. What an answer to prayer. Yes,
God can change things in the twinkling of an eye.
We keep hard at work in the last 2 weeks we’ve established a seed for 13 new Prayer Posts.
Yes, leadership is paying more attention to prayer and action. What a blessing to get these
results by telephone as I sit at my desk and plan to touch new cities day by day. I being in the
way the Lord led me.
March 16 – 19, 2010 a Holy Spirit directed 2nd annual Prayer Canada Conference at the
beautiful lake called Cultus just 50 miles from home base up in the mountains. Our special
speakers were John and Judy Kolb. They not only shared great evidence of God’s plan for our
lives but many personal messages for most people present. Our plans are already set for 2011 –
March 7 - 10. If interested please let us know, we’d love to have you join us.
Our Independent Assemblies of God International honoured us here on the west coast by having
-17-
the Annual National Conference here in our local hotel in Surrey. Originally it was Surrey Inn
the very first home of Prayer Canada whose penthouse was the office of Prayer Canada from
Nov. 21, 1977 for four and half years.
The many people involved in IAOGI came together once again under the direction of the Holy
Spirit where Jesus is the president. Certainly the high note was the dynamic key speaker Dr.
Mike Brown who spoke for 3 nights and once during the day. He also spoke Saturday night,
Sunday morning and evening at Celebration Life Church. Much fellowship was greatly enjoyed
as some we only get to meet at these annual conferences. Some were given a chance to share
about the last year’s experience with the Lord and His church. The passionate touch of the
missionaries was missing as only a very brief few comments were made by the interviewer and
interpreter with the meeting itself being adjourned during the process.
We were mightily blessed with excellent Vancouver weather. I think it takes about 8-years
before this momentous event will happen here again, au revoir.
Prepare. Be prepared, the soon coming of the Lord is being voiced with great urgency from
multiple sources. May the Holy Spirit keep you lined up for His next great event. Glory.

REPORT FROM SOLID ROCK CHRISTIA$ FELLOWSHIP
I$ ABBOTSFORD, B.C.
School Property we purchased
Worship Centre and Gym
Temporary Sanctuary
-19-
Blessings to all of you in the name of the Lord!
We are so excited about what God has done for our fellowship. Solid Rock Christian
Fellowship is in its 29th year. We, Pastor Nelson and Louise Stratulat began the ministry in
1981.
While still in college, we attended a presbytery service in another town in which the prophet
pointed us out and said, “God is telling me to tell you not to worry about lands or buildings
because He is reserving them for you.”
After graduating from Portland Bible College, we started home to start a work here in the Fraser
Valley of B.C. with our family, two couples and two singles. Over the next 14 years we moved
many times from a rented hall, then an old church building and several other temporary and
costly facilities. Every Sunday consisted of setting up and taking down!
In 1995 we bought the old church building for 350,000.(with a small rental house attached to
the property and $5000 in the building fund). At the time, we knew that the city was interested
in it as well. They were still interested 6 years later when they bought it from us for $560,000.
We put an offer on a larger church building and purchased it for $415,000.
This property was sufficient for our needs but not much room to grow in. Our vision was
bigger so we kept watching and trying the doors on other parcels that we would see. Always in
the back of our minds was the prophetic word given to us prior to 1981. God had buildings and
land reserved! Then in 2007 we received another prophetic word which declared we would
double in size. So we continued to look for property.
In the summer of 2009, the old Huntingdon School property became available down near the
border in Abbotsford. This was an interesting parcel. It still had the old school which was
shaped in a T with two stories on the cross part and a 10,000 sq. ft. 10 year old gym built near
it. The gym, which was practically new, had two basketball courts. The school building
however was probably built in the early 1900’s, was in good shape structurally, but sadly
needing a new makeover. This really suited our vision and beyond our imagination!
We were able to purchase the parcel for 1.8 million but we needed to sell our present church
building. Again a buyer was there! It sold for 845,000. Praise God!
We took possession of the Huntingdon School property the last week of Nov. 09 and since have
renovated and added 4 offices, reception area and publishing room in the old school building.
We renovated the 2 large classrooms upstairs. We will also renovate a multi-purpose room, a
new kitchen and make a library in the lower part.
-20-
We have presently divided the gym in half, leaving one side as a gym. On the other side we are
constructing a sanctuary, 3 bathrooms, nursery, and a vestibule area. A large youth room is
being built over the bathrooms and nursery. The sanctuary will house approx. 300 people.
Our God does above all that we ask or think! “He that receives a prophet in the name of a
prophet receives a prophet’s reward.” We know God has a big vision and we are so thankful to
be part of it! Our hope is that you will see God’s hand here and that will increase your faith for
what you are believing God for in the area He has placed you in. Bless you!

THREE SIG$IFICA$T WORDS
As one gives consideration to their individual life upon earth, I believe that there are three
words of great significance.
The first of these words is the word, purpose! The significance of the word, “purpose,” has
certainly been brought to the attention of North Americans through Rick Warren’s book, “The
Purpose Driven Life.” Of course, as one might know, the book was a #1 New York Times
Bestseller. From a Christian perspective, the word, “purpose” has been in the heart of most all
believers of all time through the words of Romans 8:28 NIV, “And we know that in all things
God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his
purpose.”
The second of these words is the word, preparation! As an individual begins to become aware
of the possible purpose of their life upon earth, they commence to participate in the preparations
necessary to fulfill that purpose. Those preparations include many details too numerous to
itemize here. However, let me state three of those preparations. First, there is the preparation
that takes place through those growing up years in their family. This preparation brought to
each life in the family is very foundational. As the child begins participation in the educational
process, there is a continued development in maturity. Paralleling that is a third preparations by
those first jobs performed by the child/youth. Such jobs might be as basic as the home delivery
of the newspaper!
But the purpose and the preparations for that purpose go for naught without the third word of
significance. That word is preservation! One’s life must be preserved if one is to fulfill the
purpose for which they are being prepared. Presently, I am reading a Young Reader’s book on
Abraham Lincoln written by Sam Wellman and published by Barbour Publishing Company.
Two particular incidents are highlighted in the book, and both incidents have to do with the fact
-21-
that the life of Abraham Lincoln was preserved from death. The first, and only incident that I
have space to mention was Abraham Lincoln’s near death experience as a young boy when he
fell into the swift flowing waters of Knob Creek near his childhood home in Kentucky. But at
the very last moment, he was able to grab hold of a low hanging branch, and his friend, Austin
was able to pull him to safety. Since his life was preserved from death he was prepared to
fulfill his purpose in bringing emancipation to those in slavery, and ultimately unite a divided
America, so that it could become the United States of America!
How does all of this apply to your life? Since you are reading about these three significant
words, your life has been preserved from death to this moment! Are you submitting yourself to
the preparations of life by the circumstances in which you find yourself? Are you allowing
yourself to be propelled toward God’s purpose for your life?

FI$E TU$I$G OUR HEARI$G
I would like to encourage everyone with something God has been really impressing on my heart
which is, trusting God and knowing the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 22:14 AMP “And he said, The God of our forefathers has destined and appointed you to
come progressively to know His will [to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly, and
to become better and more intimately acquainted with His will], and to see the Righteous One
(Jesus Christ, the Messiah), and to hear a voice from His [own] mouth and a message from His
[own] lips;”
God desires us to be intimately acquainted with Him so that we can hear His voice. This is God
wanting to fine tune our hearing, not just for a Word for the Sunday morning message but to
hear His voice all day long seven days a week. Being able to confidently obey when He says go
hear or there, stop and talk to this person, buy that person some food or whatever the Lord may
ask.
I have already experienced this type of trust through the men and women in this organization,
by their kind words that are life giving, and destiny changing. We are blessed to be a part of a
fellowship that meets periodically to share, pray and break bread together. I believe God wants
the people of this fellowship to be in a place of absolute confidence that He will keep his Word
and will take care of His children.
Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego we must be willing to stand for what is right and say:
We know that God can deliver us, but even if He does not, we will not bow down.

ARCTIC
QIKIQTARJUAG, NU - We had just finished hosting an "Arise & Shine" Conference based on
Isaiah 60:1. It was an awesome Conference, many of our congregations had been fasting and
praying for few months on different occasions just for this Conference. Many came from other
communities as far as Northern Quebec. The presence of the Lord was so intense at times, that
we were just awed to see what the Lord was doing in the hearts of the people. We saw miracles
after miracles. Our congregation had outgrown our local church, so we had to use the
Gymnasium. We will be expanding our church building this summer. Contributions to our
building project would be gratefully received. Pastor Billy Arnaquq, Katiqsivik Gospel Church,
P.O. Box 96, Qikiqtarjuaq, NU, X0A 0B0.

SAGAMOK – Rev Keith Gaebel reports “ God has given us one of the worst addicted actors in
Sagamok who has asked for Bible College training. He has, with the grace of God been dry for
2 years. Both He and his wife are eager, hungry and thirsty for the word. We have answered the
call and began a combined Rehab and Bible training May 21, 6 hours per week. Already they
have invited others to join in the training. God is moving in Sagamok in a new way. While we
are donating our time and effort, we are not charging an enrolment fee so that anyone can avail
this opportunity. Unemployment is very high here. We do need funds however for expenses and
ask those who have access to missionary funds to partner with us in this unique move of God in
an area where addiction and suicide among the youth is high.
Donations for expenses can be designated and cheques made out to 'Sagamok Community
Youth Outreach', and mail to Rev. Keith Gaebel, RR1, Richards Landing, ON. P0R1J0.
God richly bless as you pray for continued favour and Spirit guidance for us and consider how
-24-
you can financially partner with us. This is a Faith Home Mission opportunity for your special
attention. Thank you for those who have helped us and are continuing in prayer and to those
who consider a new outreach venture for Jesus.

Joshua 7:3 (King James Version) “And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all
the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all
the people to labour thither; for they are but few.”
2 Timothy 2:4 (King James Version) “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs
of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”
We are called to be sanctified, prepared, submitted, trained warriors. The soldiers who lapped
water from their hand while watching for the enemy were the ones God told Gideon to select.
Likewise, our Lord is looking for men and women who take seriously their obligations as
leaders and warriors in the battle.
Luke 19:14-16 – We do not need more imitators. What Paul did others couldn’t do why? ..they
were not prepared with the anointing and the armour. It’s one thing to be prepared, and then it
is another thing to stay prepared.
Why did Paul do what others couldn’t? He tells us in Ephesians 6:12-18. In this scripture Paul
says take up the whole armour. Paul was equipped for battle. It is a spiritual battle we are
fighting. It takes putting on the whole armour of God. Here they are listed - put on the
armour, stand, get your loins girt about with the truth, put on the breastplate of righteousness,
have your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace, have the shield of faith, put
on the helmet of salvation, pray always, be watchful.
I’ve noticed there is nothing cavalier about soldiers in the Canadian Army. They’re trained,
they’re disciplined and they’re committed. They are battle ready.
The question is what adjustments do we need to make to be more effective in our ministries?
Yours in Christ

Editor the Canadian Mantle
