ancora sentire, peró, presto
sará fra noi. Con l’arrivo
dell’ autunno si presenta il
problema delle foglie. I
giardini sono sempre ben
curati durante l’estate,
peró in questo periodo
hanno bisogno di maggior
manodopera. Alcuni anni fá
ci si riuniva, in un specifico
giorno, per raccogliere le
foglie e fare pulizie prima
d e l l ’ a r r i v o
dell’inverno.
Ebbene se

coro Italiano, formato da 50
giovani alpini. É stata una
meravigliosa serata. Il

l’arena WFCU della quale,
sono rimasti felicemente
stupiti e dove al
centro della pista
ghiacciata hanno

Il 22 settembre abbiamo terminato le gare
estive di “shuffleboard,” con la
partecipazione di dodici squadre di giocatori.
Al primo posto si sono classificati Roger
Mariuz e Fiorella Dolfi, seguiti da Giovanni
Meret e Dolores Todero. Al terzo posto sono
arrivati Mario Piccolo e Letizia Corrado e
quarta in classifica è stata la squadra di
Alfeo Masotti e Maria Centis.
Congratulazioni ai vincitori e vincitrici. Ci
siamo tutti assai divertiti, trascorrendo
diverse ore insieme in perfetta armonia.

FAMILY SKATE
Our annual Family Skate is
being held this year on
Tuesday, December 29, 2009
at WFCU Centre (Windsor
Star Community Rink) from
6:15 - 7:15pm. We’re trying an
evening skate so that all those
parents and members who
haven’t been able to attend in
the past when the skate was
held during the day can attend.
It’s a great way to get out with
the kids during the holidays and
learn to skate. We’re also
encouraging everyone to come
back to the Fogolar and enjoy a
tasty pizza in the member’s bar.

Dear Members,

This will be my last letter for this year. The way
I see it, the cold weather is not here as of yet.
However, it will be here sooner than we think.
With the onset of autumn, there is always the
ongoing problem with the leaves. The property
always looks good in the summer; however at
this time more maintenance is required. A few
years ago, we would get together on a certain
day and do a fall cleanup. I would like to ask if
there is anyone interested in doing this again.
If so, please contact the club.
In the last three months we were fortunate to
have some visitors from various locations.
The choir from the Caruso Club from Sudbury
were here for two days. It was a very
pleasant get together. Our group of Alpini
organized a trip to Toronto for the Alpini
Congresso. Then two days after, we had the
honour to have a choir from Italy – a young
group of fifty Alpini. It was a beautiful night.
The following day, we took them to see the
WFCU center of which they were very
impressed. They went to center ice and sang
three moving songs. From there we went to
Colio Wines for a barbecue and enjoyed each
other’s company. A thank you goes to the
President of the Alpini, Vittorino Morasset
and his committee. In the same week,
another beautiful evening was organized by
Vittorino Morassett and his wife June.
Vittorino is the representative of EFASCE –
As many of you know, I was unable to attend
the October general assembly. Upon my
return, I was pleased to see so many
volunteers that would like to be part of the
Board of Directors. I stress the importance of
your attendance at the next general assembly
in November to ensure that you vote for who
you feel is the most qualified person for that

Emigranti. Delegates included from Pordenone
the Secretary, Assistant to the Secretary,
Counsellor, the Counsel Vice President of
Friuli-Venezia-Giulia and his one Counsellor,
the President of the Chamber of Commerce of
Pordenone and two Chamber of Commerce
representatives. The purpose of this evening
was to honour seventeen people with the
Award for Fidelity of Labour from the Windsor/
Essex County area and who are members of
the Italian community.
I would like to say that there is something
always occurring at the Fogolar. There is
never a dull moment. I would like to thank
those who participate and who dedicate their
time and energy.

As this is my last letter for this year and I may
not see many of you before the holidays, I
would like to take this opportunity to wish all
of you a happy and healthy holiday with you
and your families.

WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION NEWS
We would like to thank everyone that
came out to support the Pasta Fest on
Tuesday October 6, 2009. The evening
proved to be a success! A warm
thanks to those ladies from the
Association that donated gifts, and/or
money, and also came out for the
evening. An honourable mention to the
kitchen staff and the servers for
the excellent pasta and meatballs, as well
as the service. We would also like to
thank the front office staff, Sara, Angie,
and Tom for being there everytime
we called or needed a helping hand.
Great Job!
This money, along with some other
savings, will be given to Hotel Dieu
Grace Hospital towards the
Angioplasty section
to
purchase equipment.

young Friulani from Windsor visited
San Vito al Tagliamento for 3 weeks
as part of EFASCE’s student
exchange summer program. The five
