Join the 10th annual “Kawahigashi Minazuru Matsuri”. The festival is a tribute to the folk tale, “Minazuru Hime(Princess Minazuru)” Because Princess Minazuru longed for her lover, the military general Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune, She sought his where about all the way from Kyoto to Oshu(Currently Iwate Prefecture; in the northeast of Honshu.) In the late Heian Period(around the 11th century), a beautiful princess, Minazuru met Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a general from the late Heian Period to early Kamakura period, and fell in love with him. After Yoshitsune had left Kyoto for Oshu(currently Northeast Japan, Iwate prefecture), she looked for him from Kyoto all the way up to Kawahigashi-machi, but was unable to find him. Overwhelmed with grief, she threw herself into the Nanba Pond in Fujikura-Shuraku, Kawahigashi town. Her gravestone now stands near Nanba Pond. It is said that once you pray at her gravestone, you will be able to find your soul mate. *------------------------------------------------------* Date and Time: Saturday, August 27th, 10:00am-8:30pm ♦Location: Hirota Nishi Koen (In front of the Kawahigashi Branch of Aizu Wakamatsu City Hall) ◊Inquiries: *For inquiries concerning the Minazuru Festival⇒Aizu Shoko-kai Kawahigashi(Aizu Chamber of Commerce, Kawahigashi)(☎ 0242-75-3511) *For Inquiries concerning the Minazuru bus route⇒Kawahigashi-shisho Machizukuri Suishin-ka (Town Development Promotion Division, Aizu Wakamatsu City Hall Kawahigashi Branch ☎ 0242-75-2113) Minazuru-Go Community Bus Timetable Bound for Kawahigashi Bound for Central Aizu Wakamatsu th th (shortened version) 8th Bus 10th Bus 5:01pm. 7:21pm.
