Fukushimaken s o u g o u b o u s a i k u n r e n g a K a i s a i s a r e m a s u
Cooperation Event 福島県総合防災訓練が開催されます!
The Fukushima Prefectural Disaster Prevention Training
Program is held every year with the aim of carrying out a smooth and
prompt emergency response in the event of a disaster. The Program
combines the participation of local governments and citizens working
together with volunteer organizations and other disaster-related
organizations and agencies.
This year the event will be held in Aizu Wakamatsu City for
the first time in twelve years. It is difficult to know when a disaster,
such as flooding due to earthquake or heavy rain, or landslides will
occur. In the event of a disaster, it is important that each area works
together with each and every resident to provide held and relief.
Come learn about disaster prevention and relief at the event.
Many different disaster response vehicles will be on display
at this year’s event as well, so feel free to come and check them out!
Please note: The day of the event, various sirens will be sounded.
An emergency helicopter training session will take place at Aizu-Sogo Gymnasium and Monden
Elementary School.
The helicopter will be stationed at Okawa Ryokuchi Park.
The surrounding area may be disrupted with noise or dust.
Event Location Information: During the morning of the event, parking usually open in the Wanpaku-Hiroba
will be closed to the public.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
♦Date & Time: Sunday, August 28th, 8:30am~12:00pm.
♦Location: Aizu Sogo Gymnasium, Monden Elementary School

End Your Summer Vacation with This One of a Kind Local Festival in Kawahigashi!!
河東地域の魅力あふれるイベントです! 皆鶴まつりにおいでください!!
Join the 10th annual “Kawahigashi Minazuru Matsuri”. The festival is
a tribute to the folk tale, “Minazuru Hime(Princess Minazuru)” Because
Princess Minazuru longed for her lover, the military general
Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune, She sought his where about all the way from
Kyoto to Oshu(Currently Iwate Prefecture; in the northeast of Honshu.) The
festival starts with a memorial service for princess Minazuru’s soul, and a
performance by local junior high school students dressed up as princess
Minazuru and Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune.
Here are some of the other fun events! A flea market, a traditional folk
dance “Aizu Bandaisan(Mt.Bandai)”, paper-craft work shop, fireworks at
night, and more!
We recommend you use the community bus, “Minazuru-go” for transportation to and from the event.
To learn more about the bus, refer to the chart below.
*-----------------------------------------------------*
What’s the folktale “Minazuru Hime” about?
In the late Heian Period(around the 11th century), a beautiful princess, Minazuru met Minamoto no
Yoshitsune, a general from the late Heian Period to early Kamakura period, and fell in love with him. After
Yoshitsune had left Kyoto for Oshu(currently Northeast Japan, Iwate prefecture), she looked for him from
Kyoto all the way up to Kawahigashi-machi, but was unable to find him. Overwhelmed with grief, she threw
herself into the Nanba Pond in Fujikura-Shuraku, Kawahigashi town. Her gravestone now stands near Nanba
Pond. It is said that once you pray at her gravestone, you will be able to find your soul mate.
