How I Began to Embrace Life & How You Can Too
KEYNOTE SPEAKER • KEYNOTE SPEAKER
By Rob Kiltz, MD, FACOG,
Founder and Director of CNY
Fertility & CNY Healing Arts
Wellness Centers
This life is a journey of bringing your
mind, body, and spirit into balance and
harmony. Each day, I strive to positively
impact the lives of those around me and
to help bring others (as well as myself ) to
a place of inner peace and joy. I want you
to wake up to the beautiful truth that you
are a creator in this fantastic and amazing
universe. You can (and do) create your
own reality here on earth every single day
with your thoughts, actions, and energy.
Life can definitely be challenging and
sometimes negative thoughts take root
in our minds. When you find yourself
stressed, worried, or unhappy— in a
general negative mindset— you tend
to attract more of that energy. I know
this because I’ve been there. Eventually,
something inside of you nudges you into
change. Once you flip the switch in your
mind, things turn in the other direction—
toward positive and productive thoughts
and actions. YOU have the power to
facilitate this change.
At a certain point in my life, I decided I
needed to take control of my life, and my
thoughts, and make some serious changes
to achieve my full potential. I began
reading
and
attending
workshops about
the power of the
mind and spirituality. I remember reading
Andrew Newberg’s book How God
Changes Your Brain and being completely
blown away. He inspired me to change
my thinking and begin the daily practice
of meditation and appreciation. I began
seeking out better ways to grow and feel
spiritually fulfilled inside, so that I could
discover internal peace. It was around
2006 that I began implementing these
ideas and practices into my daily life.
I studied the concept of motion and
movement through Tai Chi, yoga,
and walking; I embraced positive
thinking and mindfulness and
began incorporating daily
intentions into my life.
I began working with
my clients in a different
manner than I had before,
by focusing collaboratively
on their physical being as
well as their emotional and
spiritual being. In some
cases, I noticed that simply
shifting their thinking and
helping them to come into
a more positive light, would
impact their ability to conceive.
12
Natur-Tyme: Creating a Healthier Community, Starting with You!
Instead
of stressing
and fearing over the idea
that they might not conceive a child,
I had them redirect their energy into
abundant thinking by appreciating what
they already had and not noticing a lack
anywhere in their lives. Letting go, with
the help of yoga and meditation, was part
of the process to get to the outcome that
they desired. Our thinking is the vibration
of our present moment. If you embrace
fear and worry, then you are creating that
reality for yourself. Remember that those
challenging moments in life are all par for
the course and just a temporary state of
being that is supporting the evolution and
growth of who you are.
My life has been an incredible journey
filled with ups, downs, and surprises
beyond belief, and I continue to work at it
every single day. I never want to forget to
be grateful, to smile, or to cherish every
sacred day that I am lucky to experience
on this beautiful planet. Focusing on
this gratitude has been one of the most
life-changing things I have ever done
and something that I strongly encourage
others to embrace. With a little effort,
we can control our thoughts and become
really good at managing our lives from
a place of love and joy rather than stress
and fear.

Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC)
Panel by the International Cesarean Awareness Network
12-1:30 pm, 5:30-7 pm
Special Nutritional Concerns in the
Geriatric Population by Martha Pascucci, RD, CSG
Have you given birth by Cesarean Section? Do you know
somebody who has? Are you a healthcare worker or birth worker
who works with pregnant women? Join ICAN of Syracuse for a
VBAC discussion panel with local OBs and midwives in Natur-Tyme’s
community room.
The geriatric population presents very specific nutritional challenges
which can be effectively overcome with a clear understanding of
what these challenges are and the tools to effectively maximize the
nutrition and hydration status of our elders as a means of maximizing
their Quality of Life.
April is Cesarean Awareness month and our goal in hosting this
professional panel discussion is to help promote
awareness of options for women pursuing VBAC in
our community. We believe this will give women
and families an opportunity to become familiar with
the names and faces of providers, as well as a chance
to ask questions. We also hope that it will serve to inform other local
childbirth professionals about the VBAC practices and options here
in Central New York.

Having a baby is a life-changing experience, whether it’s your first or
your fourth. Doulas help ease the transition for families by educating,
empowering, advocating, and serving the families they work with.
Doulas are educated about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and baby
care. The mission of the CNY Doula Connection is to raise awareness
about the value of doula support during pregnancy, birth, and
postpartum. Learn how a doula can help support you or someone you
know.
The CNY Doula Connection serves families in and around Central New
York to help ease their transitions after having a child. Their hope is
that families would be well-educated about the birth process and that
both moms and dads would be satisfied with the birth experience. CNY
Doulas have attended births at Crouse Hospital, St. Joseph’s, Community
General, Rome Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, Strong Memorial,
Thompson Hospital, St. Luke’s, St Mary’s Hospital, Cortland Regional
