This is a 25,000 sq. ft., two-storey, state-of-the-art, environmentally sustainable office building
containing energy and lighting sources that meet Manitoba Hydro Power Smart principals and
incorporate the latest LEED (leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building
Rating System requirements. Geo-thermal heating and cooling, which passes ground water
through a heat exchanger, reduces hydro consumption and eliminates the need for a natural
gas connection. Having daylight through floor-to-ceiling windows limits the amount of “wattage
per square foot,” and lights go on and off when people enter and exit the rooms. The earthy
colours on the walls are created with environmentally friendly paint. Millwork and cabinets are
composed of mad-in-Manitoba strawboard, counters are concrete or granite and individual
work stations have ergonomic and efficiency features.
