Notes to Audience and Participants
Tempo Festival of the Arts
We thank you for your cooperation.
All entrants in music classes must hand an original of their piece to the secretary of the session
in which they are playing before the session begins.
No practicing in the festival hall in the thirty minutes prior to the session.
Performers must provide their own accompanist. A chord may be given on the piano at the
beginning of an unaccompanied selection. Only dance classes may use taped music.
The executive has the right to alter the order of the program in order to accommodate
unforeseen circumstances.
In the event of a withdrawal, there will be no refund of the entry fee. If unable to perform, the
entrant is asked to contact the emcee or secretary as soon as possible. Please contact Brenda
for any questions of cancellation.
We would request that performers arrive at least 15 minutes before the session begins and that
they remain in the festival hall until their class is over.
Audience Etiquette
We respectfully request that audience members maintain a quiet atmosphere.
Enter or leave the festival venue only between performances or after the adjudicator has
completed comments.
There is a pause in proceedings while the adjudicator is writing and a shorter space of time
immediately after adjudication. At those times it would be appropriate to come and go.
NO PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO OR AUDIO RECORDING WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THE
ADJUDICATOR’S COMMENTS.
It is never appropriate to discuss grievances with the adjudicator. Please feel free to contact a
festival committee member. Your comments are valuable and will be taken with great respect.
All decisions of the adjudicator shall be final.
Any complaints or protests should be made in writing and given to the secretary by May 1st,
2015
Under no circumstances should a complaint or protest be made directly to the adjudicator.
Participants , parents and teachers are discouraged from discussing festival results with the
adjudicator
Thank you for your understanding.

received her Bachelor of Arts (English Literature) and Diploma

Theatre. She has worked with the Canadian Opera Company, the Canadian Opera

Anniversary Award at the regional finals in Minneapolis. Margot has been a soloist

year teaching voice at the Canadian Mennonite University and she is the Minister
of Music at Grace Bible Church. Her church choir has been an award winner in the
CBC Radio National Choral Competition.
Margot is a member of the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association and
Canadian Actors’ Equity Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the
Winnipeg Music Festival. She has a reputation as an energetic encourager of
musicians of all ages and levels of ability. In her spare time, Margot tries to keep
one step ahead of her three daughters.
Our Adjudicators are a vital part of the Tempo Festival. They are amongst the best that
Manitoba can offer in their area of expertise. Finding and hiring an adjudicator begins in June of
the previous year due to the demands of teaching and festival work.
Tempo is non–competitive and offers a relaxed and constructive atmosphere for both entrant and
professional. We appreciate the extra time adjudicators may have in the course of the day to
offer suggestions to the presenters. We are grateful our adjudicators can share their love of the
arts with our community. In turn, we are happy to be able to share our local talent with them.
