The mission of the Scholastic 3D Archery program is to foster, educate, and guide youth in the area of 3-D archery. OVERVIEW • December 18th 2012, Articles of Incorporation officially filed • Board of Directors with over 260 years of archery experience • As of December 2014 • Received our 501-c3 in June of 2014 • Partners: ASA, USCA with pending partners being announced at the ATA Show • Title Sponsor Bear Archery Products • Sponsors: Pape’s, Brownell’s, Tru-Ball Archery, Extreme, Morrell, Gold Tip • S3DA training for KY Regional Coordinators Jan 2-4, 2013 • Multi-State training adding Indiana, North Carolina, colleges in Kentucky and KY High Schools in March of 2013 • Indiana held first state tournament in April of 2013 with 8 Schools represented, 2014 - 54 schools • • 2013 Kentucky held the first official S3DA tournament with students from 31 schools in 2014 278 students from 51 schools Added State Coordinators in AL, OH, MO, and IA that will work with the ASA Directors and Rep’s • Many ASA State Directors have been Certified to work in their respective states to help archery shops get on board, provide trainings, assist with tournaments/events States: Alabama, Indiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois, • Kids in 2014 national shoot 203 from 4 states and 49 schools, AL, IN, IL and KY • PARTNERSHIPS Professional Archery Collegiate Archery State Parks Local Archery Shops & Clubs BEAR ARCHERY PRODUCTS TITLE SPONSOR SUPPORT FROM ASA has offered……… Support from State Directors Set up and use of target ranges For ALL S3DA events! PURPOSE AND MISSION The S3DA program fosters, educates and guides youth (along with their parents) that are interested in the Next-Step from the basic introduction of archery using real equipment that provides a life time of opportunities in archery. PROGRAM DESIGN S3DA was designed to use a standardized set of rules that will follow the archer from the 3rd grade to adulthood. S3DA rules are standardized with USCA and ASA rules. S3DA equipment requirements are all inclusive. There are no special targets or equipment limitations that exclude manufacturers. HOW DO SCHOOLS/CLUBS BECOME INVOLVED? To become a fully certified S3DA Club please follow these steps: Complete the following registration forms and submit them to S3DA at the address below: “Scholastic 3D Archery Club Registration and Remittance” “Scholastic 3D Archery Club Individual Membership Registration” Send at least one adult through the S3DA Basic 3-D Instructor Certification Course Contact S3DA to apply for available grants After your S3DA Club has received its certification your Club can order archery equipment from the S3DA equipment at substantial discounts http://www.s3da.org/3darchery-membership/starting-a-club EQUIPMENT FOR S3DA Pins: Any type of bow (except crossbows) using fixed pin sights (no limit to the number of sight pins), peep sight apertures, no magnification in the peep or the sight, one front stabilizer (not to exceed 12”), one set of back bar stabilizer(s) (not to extend more than 6” to the rear of the riser) and any type of release, including fingers. Traditional: Any recurve, long bow, or Genesis, Mini Genesis, or Genesis Pro without sights, where the string is released from the fingers. A front stabilizer measuring 12” or less may be used, but no back bars or counter balances may be used. Any type of arrow rest may be used but clickers and/or draw checks are not allowed. Competitors may elect to aim by using a consistent anchor point on their face or neck and “walking” the string, or they may elect to touch the nock of the arrow with their index finger and “walk” their face to aim, but they may not do both simultaneously. S3DA RULES Follow ASA Rules of Competition unless exceptions are made in the Scholastic 3D Archery Rules of Competition. (Rules can be obtained at http://www.asaarchery.com/IP/index.php/tournament-info/rules) · Designed to provide a challenging and rewarding competitive atmosphere for scholastic competitors of all ages Classes are also divided by age group and arrow speed specify compound and traditional bow. Grade Compound Traditional Arrow Speed Elementary (grades 3-5) 20yds 15yds 220fps Middle (grades 6-8) 30yds 20yds 240fps High (grades 9-12) 30yds 20yds 260fps · Team Classification Teams are comprised of the best five shooter scores from the school/club that the student attends. It does not matter what gender the student is. There is no limit to how many students can be registered on a team. They must all attend the same school/club. · Scoring -Overall Scores are determined from the accumulation of points from 20 known distance targets.
