Saturday, July 20 HOME-VANCOUVER Depart this morning and
arrive in Vancouver. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure before your
welcome dinner and an overnight at the Fairmont Waterfront. (D)
Sunday, July 21
VANCOUVER-VICTORIA
Enjoy a guided
sightseeing tour including Chinatown and Stanley Park, introducing
you to the history and vibrant cultural life of Vancouver, site of the 2010
Winter Olympics. Hop aboard a ferry for a cruise to Victoria, British
Columbia’s capital where you’ll spend two nights at the city’s only
5-star hotel, the Hotel Grand Pacific, in a balconied Grand Harbor
view room overlooking Victoria’s beautiful waterfront. (B,D)
Monday, July 22 VICTORIA Throughout your stay in Victoria, you’ll
discover more than a bit of British influence in its double-decker buses,
horse-drawn carriages and formal gardens, all surrounded by the rustic
beauty of the Pacific coast. You’ll find floral beauty in exceptional form
at The Butchart Gardens, begun over a century ago. During your
visit this morning, explore what has grown to encompass 55 acres of
flowers and show gardens including the Japanese, Italian and Rose
gardens. The balance of the day is free to explore one of the oldest
cities in the Pacific Northwest; downtown restaurants and shops and

Documentation
All U.S. citizens must present a passport valid for
at least six months from your return date.
Luggage
One piece of checked luggage is permitted along
with a small carry-on bag to fit above you or
beneath your seat on the motorcoach.
Train Accommodations
Onboard your overnight stay on The Canadian,
doubles are accommodated in a private room with
two armchairs, which are replaced by upper and
lower beds for sleeping. Amenities include a small
closet, mirror, sink/vanity and private toilet. There
are restrooms and a public shower in each
sleeping car.
Tuesday, July 23 VICTORIA-THE CANADIAN Your morning is at
leisure where you can visit the Royal BC Museum featuring natural
and cultural history. Enjoy a beloved English ritual that has become
one of Victoria’s grandest traditions-Afternoon Tea in the restored
Tea Lobby of the Fairmont Empress. Then return to Vancouver via
floatplane in the late afternoon with spectacular views over the Gulf
Islands. Tonight, board the sleek, newly restored rail cars of VIA
Rails The Canadian, and celebrate the start of your overnight journey
to the Canadian Rockies with a champagne toast. Sleep onboard the
train tonight in your private sleeper accommodations. (B)
Wednesday, July 24 THE CANADIAN-JASPER The vistas are
nothing short of spectacular from the private domed observation car
as your western Canada tour continues across British Columbia
where towering peaks and glaciers highlight the route. Cross the
Continental Divide into Alberta and arrive in Jasper National Park for
a two-night stay at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. (B,L,D)
Thursday, July 25 JASPER The day is yours to spend as you wish
among the carefully protected ecosystems and photographer’s
paradise of Jasper National Park. Optional activities include a
guided nature walk or visiting the town of Jasper. This evening a
presentation by a Parks Canada official precedes dinner. (B,D)
Friday, July 26 JASPER-LAKE LOUISE
Drive the Icefields
Parkway, featuring jaw-dropping views of mountains, waterfalls,
glaciers and snow fields around every turn. Watch for bear, elk,
bighorn sheep and mountain goats. View Athabasca Glacier flowing
from the Columbia Icefield and take a memorable climb across the
glacier’s surface on an Ice Explorer, a specially designed vehicle.
Continue on to your chateau-style hotel on the edge of Lake Louise
overlooking Victoria Glacier for a night in a lake view room at the
Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. (B,L,D)
Saturday, July 27 LAKE LOUISE-BANFF Travel via the Bow River
Valley to Moraine Lake then continue through Kicking Horse Pass
into Yoho National Park. See the Natural Bridge, a rock formation
over the Kicking Horse River, the Spiral Tunnels-a century-old
railway engineering feat, and the Continental Divide before setting off
for The Fairmont Banff Springs Resort, modeled after a Scottish
baronial castle, for a two-night stay inside Banff National Park. Often
referred as “the Castle in the Mountains”, the Fairmont Banff Springs
Resort has been a Rocky Mountain icon since the 1880’s. (B,L,D)
Sunday, July 28 BANFF Embark on a float trip along the Bow River,
then spend the rest of the day at leisure at your hotel, discover the
town of Banff, golf, visit the Whyte Museum of the Canadian
Rockies and Banff Park Museum National Historic Site of
Canada—admittance is paid with your included Heritage Passport.
Enjoy a festive farewell reception followed by dinner. (B,D)
Monday, July 29 BANFF-HOME Travel from Banff to Calgary this
morning, approximately 80 miles, for your flights home. (B)
