Colorado Quilting: From Mountains to Plains
By Mary Ann Schmidt & the Colorado Quilting Council
This book is the culmination of more than 125 years of tradition and countless “Documentation Days,” during which quilting council members record the block technique, age, batting, backing, and color of each quilt their fellow quilters trust them to preserve.
Thirteen chapters explore important historical quilting moments, traditional and modern quilting themes, and the beginnings of the
Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum and the Quilter’s Newsletter magazine. Different council members researched, photographed, and
recorded the most significant events, memories, quilters, and quilts that have influenced the progress of quilting in Colorado. Early
Coloradans picked their own cotton, saved every scrap of used fabric, and made quilts from scratch to support their families and for
therapy as they recovered from serious injuries and illnesses. Many of these sacred stitches are still works in progress and continue
to illustrate what’s important to these dedicated craftspeople.

Antique Motorcycle Club of America
The Antique Motorcycle Club of America was founded in 1954 by a group of
antique-bike fans in the New England area (pictured from left are T.A. Hodgdon,
Emmett Moore, Henry Wing Sr., and Henry Wing Jr.). AMCA FoundersIn the
decades since, the AMCA has grown to become one of the largest organizations of
antique-motorcycle enthusiasts in the world, with 11,000 members in the United
States and more than a dozen other countries.
Owner with three-wheeled motorcycleFrom the beginning, the purpose of the club
has been the “preservation, restoration and operation of old-time motorcycles.”
Members of the AMCA own, restore, preserve, study or just admire motorcycles that
fall into the antique category, meaning they are at least 35 years old. Although the
Club is based in the United States, fans of motorcycles from all countries are welcome, and ownership of an antique motorcycle is not required to become a member.
JudgingAll National Meets also feature the AMCA’s National Judging Program, in
which members’ motorcycles can win awards in three categories: Restored, Original
Condition or Period Modified. Instead of competing against each other, bikes entered
in the AMCA Judging Program are evaluated on a 100-point scale against the standard of the same motorcycle as it would have appeared when it originally left the factory.
National Road Runs provide an opportunity to use these classic machines for their
intended purpose—riding on back roads in some of the most scenic parts of the country.
In addition to those events, AMCA members also get access to a number of benefits,
including a high-quality magazine six times per year, online forums where they can
seek advice from experts, and the AMCA Virtual Motorcycle Library, featuring
downloadable copies of hundreds of old and rare sales brochures, parts lists and

Most Important Fundraiser Of The Year
Article by Sally Enloe (Green Bay De Pere Antiquarian Society)
The premiere area historical preservation society's most important fundraiser of the year will be on
Friday, November 20th, 2015 at 10am-7pm and
Saturday, November 21st, 2015 at 10am-4pm. Located
at Rock Garden Banquet and Conference Center at 1951
Bond Street in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Quality dealers from across the country featuring furniture, jewelry, collectibles, china, glassware, art,
vintage clothing, and more. To allow the Society to

non-profits so they, in turn, can preserve items that are
pertinent to the history of Northeastern Wisconsin.
Over the show's 59 year history it has donated
approximately $600,000 to like-minded community
organizations including: The
Brown County Historical Society & Hazelwood
Historic House Museum, the Green Bay Catholic
Diocesan Museum, the De Pere Historical Society &
White Pillars Museum, the Old City Stadium project at
East High School, Heritage Hill State Historical Park,
the National Railroad Museum, the Neville Public
Museum of Brown County, St. Norbert Abbey and
Woodlawn Cemetery.
The Society is making an effort to reach out to
communities beyond Green Bay and De Pere. It is
working with groups in Pulaski, Ashwaubenon,
Howard-Suamico, and Wrightstown. All proceeds go to
the Antiquarian Society's efforts to preserve historical
artifacts significant to our area's history.

Northstar Collective Announces
The 14th Annual Antique
Sporting & Advertising Show
Northstar Collective announces the 14th annual show to be held at
the Beautiful Sunnyview Expo Center located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Oshkosh is located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Fox River Valley and
is an easy drive from Milwaukee, Chicago, Madison and Green
Bay. Quality dealers and collectors together have created the
show's success year after year. This event will be held this coming year Friday, February 5th, 10 am - 6 pm & Saturday,
February 6th, 9 am - 5 pm.
Each year there is more merchandise suitable for the
novice collector up to investment grade pieces for the advanced
collector. There are many exciting items that the general public
brings in to have valued or sell. An amazing number of antique
items that will be bought and
sold at this event include decoys, fishing and hunting items, traps, Indian
artifacts, wildlife mounts, early advertising, sports memorabilia, military
items, wildlife art, sports equipment, outdoor books and literature, knives and more!
It is with great excitement
and anticipation that Northstar
Collective Promotions has
decided to diversify the show by also emphasizing vintage advertising of all
kinds in order to broaden the buyer and dealer base. Early Americana and
advertising is a leading area of collecting and should be a great compliment to the existing Antique Sporting Show.
We appreciate the commitment and enthusiasm from all the past and
present dealers who have supported Dennis Gauger and his endeavors. We look forward to some of the best dealers in the
country displaying and selling their inventory at this
show! So don't miss out on being a vendor or attending this fun event to find that one of a kind treasure.
Due to some dealers having large displays, dealer
set up is Thursday, February 4th,
10am - 7pm. The show will
open to the Public Friday morning
at 10 am sharp.

TLCI Members Celebrate Tea Leaf
in Grand Rapids
Tea Leaf Club International's 36th annual convention is now history. In midSeptember an enthusiastic group of collectors met in Grand Rapids, MI, to share
friendship, latest finds, ideas, and their mutual love of the Tea Leaf decorated ironstone china.
Members had several options before the formal opening of the convention. On the
pre-opening evening, some early arrivals enjoyed dinner at the ball park, watching
the West Michigan White Caps win over the Des Moines Kernels. The next morning, many members toured the Grand Rapids historic district and lunched at a family-owned fruit farm, cider mill, bakery, and lunchroom featuring local produce.
Following an afternoon welcoming reception for new members, there was an opportunity to purchase Tea Leaf items during table sales. Educational programs included thoughtful presentations which challenged members to identify pieces by body
style and potter, and a quiz about the history of several better-known early potters.
The educational highlight of this year's convention was the preview of an exciting
on-line publication being produced by the club. The new handbook will enhance the
enjoyment of Tea Leaf collectors as it presents a comprehensive look at the many
facets of this popular ironstone. From the extensive list of potters who produced Tea
Leaf and various other motifs in copper lustre, to photos and descriptions of many
individual pieces, to historical information about the potters, the new handbook will
be the go-to reference for both new and experienced collectors. Still under development, the handbook will be available within a few months. And, it will be accessible by public viewers as well as TLCI club members.
The convention closed with a spirited auction featuring numerous lots and individual pieces of Tea Leaf ironstone and related variants. Friendly rivalry sparked the
bidding as members sought to take home a new piece or two of treasured Tea Leaf.
The Tea Leaf Club is dedicated to the study and collection of Tea Leaf Ironstone
China and its Variants, produced in England and America from the mid-19th century through the early 1900s. The club boasts hundreds of members from almost
every state in the union, as well as members from Canada. TLCI is made up of people who collect, study, love, and appreciate the simple beauty and endurance of Tea
Leaf Ironstone China.
One of the goals of TLCI is to expand knowledge of the history and popularity of
Tea Leaf ironstone throughout the years. The club welcomes new members and
enthusiastically shares their appreciation for the sturdy, attractive pottery. Visit
