EWETOPIA FIBER SHOP
So Many New Yarns!
Ewetopia has been
a frequent stop for the
shipping companies lately.
We have new yarns galore
for fall garments and accessories. We have
brought in Lang yarns
with a gorgeous subtle
striping light weight, machine washable dk/
worsted weight yarn
called Tosca Light. With
yardage of about 430 yds
this yarn is a bargin at
$15.50/ball! I have plans
of knitting up a Elizabeth
Zimmerman’s Baby Surprise Jacket, and it should
only take one ball! We
also have Tosca Sock yarn
a beautiful striping single
ply sock yarn that is as
strong as it is soft! Another new yarn is the soft
and machine washable/
dryable 100% recycled
Berroco Remix. It has a
patented milling process
that uses all second hand
clothing to make up its
fiber content and has a
tweedy look to it.
Although we can’t
ever seem to keep this
yarn on the shelf long, we
just received a shipment of
Jojoland Melody yarn in a
bunch of new colors, plus
the gorgeous Swirl Shawl
pattern that is knit from
Melody.
Although it’s the
dead of summer and quite
a hot one at that, knitting
hasn’t stopped! Our knitting groups (Monday
nights from 4-7pm, Tuesday afternoons from 13pm and Friday mornings
from 10-12pm) are still
going strong, and we invite anyone interested in
good laughs, friends and
of course coffee and occasional treats to stop by!
Our Friday morning
group has been knitting
little bears for kids who
find themselves at the Viroqua ER, read more
about this and how to get
involved on page 3!
We have some fun
classes coming up at the
end of this month and into
August. Lap Weaving
with Roving for example is a
fantastic way to use beautiful
wool rovings or clouds and
learn simple weaving as well!
Learn to Spin with a wheel is
also always a favorite and is
coming up in mid August, call
to reserve your wheel now!
We have 2 new EwetoKnitted bears for the

Charity Knitting: Bears for
the ER
Kids are terrified at the ER, lets face it, when you go to the ER its never for a
good time! When one of our Friday morning group members started working in the
Vernon Memorial ER department she saw that there was a tremendous need for
something to help calm the kids down. Mary Lake, another Friday morning group
member has been knitting bears for the Mother Bear project that sends knitted bears
to African children in need. She simplified the pattern to make them a bit smaller (see
page 3 for the pattern), and the group took it on full heartedly! It’s a great use of odds
and ends balls!
If you are interested in helping out with this project please stop by on Friday
mornings between 10-12pm and join us! We have needles to use, lots of scrap yarn
and of course humor! Make your bear unique by knitting simple clothes for it if desired! All colors and fibers excepted! If you are unable to come on Friday mornings,
but would like to contribute just bring them into Ewetopia anytime that works for
you!
This may turn out to be an on-going event, but for now we are meeting every
Friday through the end of August.
