CHAMP
TYPE: Lake Monster
LOCATION: Lake Champlain – New York – Vermont
DESCRIPTION: Plesiosaur-like creature with a large body, a slender neck and small, reptilian
head.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTING: July 5, 1977 – Sandra Mansi and her family saw the beast and
managed to photograph it. The resulting image is arguably the second most famous Lake
Monster photo in history next to the Loch Ness “Surgeon’s Photo.”
RECENT SIGHTINGS: August 04, 2004 – Maryland vacationer Bob Gload, and four of his
grandchildren, witnessed a black, snake-like creature devour a seagull while fishing on Lake
Champlain. Gload, a one time skeptic, now claims he believes in the creature. "I was born in
Champlain. I never believed in Champ or the Loch Ness monster. I believe now."
August 24, 2003 – A team of scientists, utilizing underwater microphones, picked up a series
of high-pitched ticking and chirping noises, similar to what a dolphin or Beluga whale would
make. "It took us totally by surprise," claimed research team leader, Elizabeth von
Muggenthaler. "For an instant we just stood there looking at each other with our mouths
open… What we can say is that there is a creature in the lake that produces bio-sonar. We
have no idea what it is."

SKUNK APE
TYPE: Hairy Hominid
LOCATION: Florida – Everglades
DESCRIPTION: Large, orangutan-like primate, which bears a horrific stench.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTING: December 22, 2000 – An anonymous letter was mailed to the
Sarasota Sheriff's Department from a Florida woman who claimed to have taken a series of
photos of what is now known as the “Myakka Skunk Ape". These images have astounded both
primate experts and crypto-investigators.
RECENT SIGHTINGS: November 15, 2004 – Jennifer Ward reported seeing an 8-foot tall,
ape-like creature standing in a drainage ditch by the side of Moore Road in northern Polk
County just days after Hurricane Charley. Ward claims she didn't stop because her two
daughters were sleeping in the back seat and she feared the animal might attack her Toyota
4Runner. "I didn't really think it existed,” Ward said. “But I'm convinced now."

CHUPACABRA
TYPE: Unclassified
LOCATION: Texas – Puerto Rico – South America
DESCRIPTION: Reptilian epidermis, kangaroo-like legs and a spiny back. Some descriptions
include a proboscis shaped tongue used to suck the blood from its victims.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTING: August 05, 2004 – Elmendorf, Texas rancher, Devin McAnally,
shot and killed a bizarre, scaly, canine-like animal after it slaughtered over 30 chickens in a
daylight raid. Eyewitnesses claim that this unidentified beast’s features fit many of the
classic descriptions of the Chupacabra. Results of the DNA tests performed on the corpse are
still pending.
RECENT SIGHTINGS: October 14, 2004 – Zoo and veterinary worker Stacy Womak took
photos of a strange creature that was shot by her brother in Angelina County, Texas. The
creature bore more than a passing resemblance to the “Elmendorf” Chupacabra. “It's not a
dog," claimed Womak. "It had no hair, a severe overbite and its claws were entirely too long
for a dog."

LOVELAND FROGMEN
TYPE: Aquatic Enigma
LOCATION: Loveland, Ohio – Miami River – Ohio River
DESCRIPTION: 3-foot tall, bipedal, green skin, web fingered, amphibious “frogmen.”
MOST FAMOUS ENCOUNTER: August 21, 1955 – Mrs. Darwin Johnson, while taking a
swim with a friend, was yanked beneath the surface of the Ohio River by an unknown aquatic
predator. Johnson managed to kick her leg free from its webbed grip, but was instantly seized
again. In desperation, Johnson lunged toward an inner tube and finally escaped the
creature’s clutches.
RECENT SIGHTINGS: March 3, 1972 – An anonymous police officer almost struck one of
the creatures with his patrol car on an icy road near the Miami River. Two weeks later
another officer known only as “Mathews” claimed to have encountered and shot a virtually
identical monster in the same area. Both creatures managed to escape over the guard rail and
into the river.

DOVER DEMON
TYPE: Out of This World
LOCATION: Dover, Massachusetts
DESCRIPTIONS: Small torso with spindly limbs, luminescent eyes and a gigantic, melon
shaped head.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTINGS: April 21, 1977 – Billy Bartlett and two friends saw the creature
while driving: "It looked like a baby's body with long arms and legs. It had a big head about
the same size as the body, it was sort of melon shaped. The color of it was... the color of
people in the Sunday comics."
Just two hours later, John Baxter spotted a “child-like figure” while walking in the same
area. When the figure spied Baxter it fled into the woods. Baxter, assuming it was a lost child,
took pursuit. He finally got a good look at the beast when it paused to rest on the other side
of a gully. From Baxter’s account:
"As I was looking really close there I could see the eyes… it was looking at me… I just stared
at it for another few minutes… and then I just got all these thoughts that maybe it was
something really strange. 'Cause, you know, nothing ever happened to me like this before, so I
didn’t know what to think. So I finally got the thought that maybe it wasn’t as safe as it
looked, 'cause the way it was staring at me it just seemed like it was- I don’t know. I got all
these feelings that it was thinking to itself, or waiting to spring or whatever, you know, and
so I backed up the bank kind of fast and my heart started beating really fast…"
RECENT SIGHTINGS: April 22, 1977 – The third, and final, encounter occurred the
following evening. Abby Brabham and Will Taintor claimed that the creature was sitting on
“all-fours” by the side of the road. Brabham compared the beast to a large headed, hairless
primate:
"As I looked at it, it kind of looked a minute like an ape. And then I looked at the head and the
head was very big and it was a very weird head. It had bright green eyes and the eyes just
glowed like, they were just looking exactly at me."
Although there have been no sightings of this creature since 1977, this event was so well
documented by authorities, and the eyewitness’s descriptions were so vivid, that it has
become one of the most celebrated crypto-encounters in history and it seems as if this might
be one of our best bets for an “Out of This World” episode.

LIZARD MAN
TYPE: Lovers Lane
LOCATION: Bishopville, South Carolina
DESCRIPTION: 7-foot tall, green scaled, bipedal, with three, elongated talons.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTING: June 29, 1988 – while changing a flat tire on a desolate road
near Scape Ore Swamp, 17 year-old, Christopher Davis was attacked by a bipedal, reptilian
creature, which came toward him at an incredible rate of speed. From Davis’s own account:
“I looked back and saw something running across the field towards me. It was about 25 yards
away and I saw red eyes glowing. I ran into the car and as I locked it, the thing grabbed the
door handle. I could see him from the neck down – the three big fingers, long black nails and
green rough skin. It was strong and angry. I looked in my mirror and saw a blur of green
running. I could see his toes and then he jumped on the roof of my car. I thought I heard a
grunt and then I could see his fingers through the front windshield, where they curled
around on the roof. I sped up and swerved to shake the creature off.”
RECENT SIGHTINGS: Since then numerous eyewitnesses have come forth with their own
tales of terror regarding this aggressive beast. Police officers have also allegedly found three
toed tracks and yet another Bishopville resident claims to have had the creature chase is car
at speeds up to 40 mph.

BEAST OF BRAY ROAD
TYPE: Hybrid Beast
LOCATION: Elkhorn, Wisconsin
DESCRIPTION: 5 to 6-foot tall, hair covered, long claws, large teeth, pointed ears, and a wolflike head.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTINGS: December 29, 1991 – A woman named “Barbara” was driving
home when she saw the creature: “I saw this thing on the side of the road. It was kneeling on
the ground. Its elbows were up, and its claws were facing out so I knew it had claws… and as
I drove by it looked right at me and didn't run... And it had glowing eyes... and he had big
teeth and fangs.”
RECENT SIGHTINGS: October 31, 2000 – Doristine Gipson was driving along Bray Road
when she felt her right front tire jump off the ground as if she had hit something. Concerned,
she stopped the car and got out to see what it was:
“There was nothing on the road, no blood or anything. I didn't see any body... I walked to the
end of the car, and here comes this thing, and it's just running up at me! You could see the
chest of this thing because it was big, and it was hairy… I get in the car, and by the time I got
inside the car the thing had grabbed hold of the car. I just put my foot on the gas pedal and I
started going. By the way it was running, you could suggest that it was on two legs because
you could see the chest so well and it was pulsating as it was coming toward me. It was
hitting the ground hard. I've never seen a human run as fast as that.”

DEVIL MONKEYS
TYPE: Curious Carcass
LOCATION: Arkansas – Louisiana – Tennessee
DESCRIPTION: 2 to 4-foot tall, vicious, marsupial-like primates.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTING: 1996 – Barbara Mullins – while cruising down a dusty stretch
of Louisiana asphalt known as Derrider Highway 12 – noticed something odd by the side of
the road. Mullins pulled over and proceeded to take a series of snapshots of the road kill.
These photographs appear to show the corpse of a large and unidentified species of primate.
Unfortunately, the carcass was never recovered.
RECENT SIGHTINGS: October 01, 2003 – Police Chief Coy Hendrix confirms that his office
has received no less than three calls from people reporting that they have seen a large apelike creature around the Decatur area in Benton County.
October 03, 2003 – KATV 7 reports that: “Mystery Creature is Making Northwest Arkansas
Residents Nervous.” Chief Hendrix tries to quash speculations regarding this beast’s
association with Bigfoot by stating: “The only description I have is a small brown monkey
about a foot and a half tall. It's not Bigfoot I believe.”
October 20, 2003 – Animal control officers in Campbell County, Tennessee, searched for a
large, aggressive, orangutan-like primate after numerous eyewitnesses reported a 400 lbs.
creature, which has been blamed for over 100 cases of “missing” pets.
Eyewitness, Donna Keathley claimed that when she accidentally startled the animal it threw
a kitten at her. "I didn't really get a good look at his face because he didn't hang around all
that long," said Keathley. “But he's big and he's got a really bad stinkful odor to him."
"We need to capture this thing the best we can," said investigator Chris Dotson. "People need
to stay away from it, allow experts to come in who have some knowledge of large primates
like this and trap this animal."
October 27, 2003 – A team of researchers, including University of Tennessee biologist John
Placyk, collected hair and feces samples from areas where the huge, ape-like beast had been
seen. The results of the tests proved to be inconclusive as the species of the animal in
question could not be identified.

THUNDER BIRDS
TYPE: Avian Anomalies
LOCATION: Lawndale, Illinois – North America
DESCRIPTION: Gigantic, black birds with white bands around their necks, long, curved beaks
and a wingspan of at least 10 feet.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTING: July 25, 1977 – Two colossal birds were reported by multiple
eyewitnesses soaring over Lawndale, Illinois. In the early evening the birds swooped down
and attacked three boys who were playing in the backyard of Ruth and Jake Lowe. The larger
of the birds then grasped the shirt of ten-year-old Marlon Lowe.
The boy’s cries brought Marlon’s mother running outside. She later reported that she had
seen the bird actually lift the boy from the ground and into the air. She shrieked loudly and
the bird released the child. She was sure that if she had not come outside, the bird would
have been capable of carrying the boy away.
RECENT SIGHTINGS: June 13, 2001 – An anonymous resident of Greenville, PA reported
seeing a large bird the size of a small airplane from his living room.
July 6, 2001 – Robin Swope reported a large bird flying out from near a mausoleum as she
cut the grass. As it flew by some high tension wires she estimated that it had a 15 to 17-foot
in wingspan. The color was described as: "Dark grey with little or no neck, and a circle of
black under its head, its beak was very thin and long, about a foot in length..."

JERSEY DEVIL
TYPE: Hybrid Beast
LOCATION: New Jersey – Pine Barrens
DESCRIPTION: Leathery wings, black fur, cloven hooves and a goat-like head.
MOST FAMOUS SIGHTINGS: 1840 – The monster is said to have gone on a vicious rampage,
devouring livestock throughout the Pine Barrens. Just 80-years later citizens of Barnegat are
chased through the streets by a demonic creature resembling a flying horse.
1968-1970 – An anonymous Howell township resident reported that the creature had
repeatedly invaded his property, and he even claimed shot at the beast. That same year, a
Mercer county woman claimed that the Jersey devil had attacked her child, pulling the hair
out of her head.
RECENT SIGHTINGS: December, 1993 – Forest Ranger John Irwin was driving along the
Mullica River in Southern New Jersey when he found the road blocked by a 6-foot tall,
bipedal “monster” with horns and matted black fur. Irwin claims that the creature stared at
him for several minutes before disappearing into the forest.
