Skamania County comes in first, located in southwest Washington state. Its numerous hiking trails and Mt. St. Helens both increase human presence in the wilderness, perhaps increasing sightings. Second ranked Humboldt County is home to Redwood Nat’l Park, attracting hikers much like Skamania County. Number 3 contains the Cascade Mountains and #4 has the Olympics. Tuolumne also has an influx of tourists with Yosemite Nat’l Park. Common denominator? High elevation, steep grades, dense wet forest, or one big hoax? Find a suitable habitat and start 1 squatchin’! #2 Humboldt County Pop. 134.623 Sightings:42 Allegheny National Forest Ridgway, PA #5 Toulumne County Pop. 55,365 Sightings:35 squatchin' (v) : the act of looking for a sasquatch, a creature also known as bigfoot, that may or may not exist 1) This most famous sighting is from a film shot in 1967 by Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin.
