DOOMED IN DENVER?
THE SKINNY: Denver have gone from
boasting the worst quarterback
play in the league to, well, the worst
quarterback play in the league. However,
the worst quarterback play in the league
was good enough to win a Super Bowl
last season thanks to their all-time great
defense. Some pieces have been ripped
from that unit, but the majority remain.

uncomfortable choice facing Gary Kubiak.
Any time you face uncertainty at quarterback in pro
football, it’s a huge concern. The issue Denver face is
all of their options come with major question marks.
Mark Sanchez has lots of experience, including in
the playoffs, but he doesn’t seem to galvanise a team
and take them to wins. Trevor Siemian is a guy they
think very highly of, yet has no NFL experience.
And Paxton Lynch is a quarterback for the future
who played in a totally different system during
his time at college. The only positive for Denver is
they can run the ball and have a great defense. So
they should be in games – provided
the quarterback doesn’t screw it
up for them!
GRIDIRON’S TAKE: Denver might have
caught lightning in a bottle during
the playoffs, but we don’t even think
they’ll make it that far this time.
Paxton Lynch is as raw a rookie
quarterback as you’ll find while Mark
Sanchez will provide hope in some
performances and then snatch it
away with a stinker. Plus, a defense
that isn’t quite as good will fail to
rediscover the magic of 2015.
