Potential Business and Environmental Collaboration to Offer/Request:
Sustainable Biomass Certification to ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification)
Scheme by GUTCert/ Germany (Accredited Certification Body)
Renewable Energies are becoming increasingly important around the world. Climate change and
resource scarcity are the only two arguments to promote the generation of energy from renewable.
The European Union (EU) has published a directive on renewable energies (2009/28/EC) in 2009 and
thereby sets a worldwide trend. With this directive the EU intends to promote the generation of energy
from Biomass, among others by targeting a proportion of 20% biomass use for total energy production in
2020 and a 10% share of biofuels in the transport sector for the same year.
In that respect biomass has become an important resource for renewable energy production worldwide,
especially within the EU. Its market relevance will continue to grow strongly in the future. It provides an
environmentally-friendly alternative to fossil energy resources, contributing to the reduction of carbon
emissions and protecting the climate.
The trend for sustainable biomass generation has been set within the energy and biofuel sector. Also in
other areas (such as cosmetics and the food industry) this topic increasingly gains importance.
Furthermore, the air traffic might demand large amounts of biofuel in near future as the aviation sector will
be included in the emissions trading system of the EU in 2013.
4
The demand for sustainably produced biomass will intensively increase within the next years which will be
reflected in the pricing. First studies on price development of biomass show that prices for sustainable
palm oil are already 25-30€ higher than the conventional palm oil, whereas the certification costs are
being expected to stay below 3-10% of this price, depending on the overall amount to be certified. Thus, it
is highly attractive to get sustainable grown biomass certified and sell it as that on the international,
especially the EU market.
Target sectors:
1. The whole Supply chain of Biomass and biofuel [Farm/Plantation owner (oil palm, corn, Jetropha,
sugarcane, etc) – Oil Mill – warehouse – Conversion Unit – Refinery/Biodiesel plant - transporter]
2. Other Biomass and Biofuel players like Importer, Exporter, Trader.
Organisation's Achievements:
1. APAVE Malaysia working with AFNOR/France (One of the Top Certification Body), has certified
and issued several hundred ISO certificates (ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO/TS16949, ISO13485,
OHSAS18001, ISO27001, ISO15001) to diversify sector of customers.
2. Since 2010 till 2011, GUTCert has issued total of 185 certificates and statement of Conformities
to Farms, First gathering point, Oil Mill/Refinery/Conversion unit, Biogas plant, Supplier and
Trader for Biomass.
3. APAVE/GUTCert jointly provides Biomass Certification (ISCC Scheme) in Malaysia, Indonesia,
Singapore and other surrounding countries. We have certified 1 warehouse and in the process to
certify 14 plantations, 9000 smallholders, 6 oil mills, 3 operating offices and 1 warehouse.

A Good Feeling With CT Wood
CT Wood does not only look like wood – it also feels like it. In order to achieve the typical “tropical wood
feeling” a special procedure is applied. CT Wood surface stays free from cracks and splinters in the long
term. Injuries caused by wooden splinters are therefore a thing of the past. Even after years, the CT
Wood material ensures an agreeable feeling.
Technique&Characteristics
CT Wood. Like natural model it can be sawn, drilled, painted or sanded. However, there is one decisive
advantage: CT wood does neither crack nor splinter and its cutting wastes are 100% recyclable.
We also provide customized designs/profiles/colors molding and components upon our most valuable
customers' demand. OEM services available too
Potential Business and Environmental Collaboration to Offer/Request:
Saving the tropical rain forests is easier said than done, because the demand for tropical woods is still
increasing. With CT Wood, everyone can contribute to the protection of the rain forests, since it is
absolutely wood free.
CT WOOD products are more in building material such as decking, ceiling, wall panel, furniture lining,
pillar, railing, hand rail, roof shingle and etc.
We need the architect or the council to recognise our product and with the recognition among the expert
or council our product can be accepted by the market as the platform to the market and government
agency.
Timber deck, building material distributors and traders can be our potential customers who can use our
product to supercede their existing product.
Besides that, we also provide OEM service which customer can offer their own design or profile, colour
and using our material to produce it. We can make all things feel like wood because our in material,
special finishing is applied.

DALAC MARINE ENGINEERING & SERVICES SDN BHD
Focus Area: Eco-product
Organisation Profile:
This company is a core business of Holding Company being design & fabrication of customized light-tomedium – size surveillance, patrol and interception speed boats, as well as maintenance and repair of
such vessels for the Enforcement Authorities in Malaysia.
The Company ventured into biomass & waste resource conversion technologies in Year 2007, having
technical collaboration with, amongst others, Hangzhou Project & Research Institute of Electro –
Mechanic in Light Industry of the P.R. China to promote pulp & paper manufacturing technology using
palm-EFBs as feedstock .
The Technology Provider as mentioned above is a reputable paper technology research & project EPCC
institute, having set up numerous medium to large scale paper production Plants which use various
biomass feedstock such as sugarcane bagasse, bamboo, paddy/wheat straws, etc. and is an accredited
Test Center for pulp & paper products in P.R. China. Total assets (@ Year 2010) are some RMB 94
million, with turnover of RMB 100 million.
Potential Business and Environmental Collaboration to Offer/Request:
We welcome investors, esp. stakeholders of palm–EFB biomass, to set up pulp & paper manufacturing
plants using our technology which is proven in the very first palm-EFB derived paper products
manufacturing factory commissioned in Year 2008, located in the Johor State, West Malaysia.
Our paper manufacturing technology enables feasible & lucrative small–scale plant set-up, using
available waste products from the palm-oil milling industry; unlike the case of timber–based paper
production ventures which require relatively large-scale investment of hardware, energy and water
demand, and huge area of land bank ( for cultivation of specific trees ) in order to be economically
feasible .
Product buy-back can be arranged by the Technology Provider, if desired.
Project financing can also be arranged by an associated Company of the Technology Provider, if
conditions are met.
Organisation's Achievements:
The Biomass Resource Development division of the Company has conducted several promotional public
talks on the said palm-EFB derived paper production technology, over the past few years, besides
actively involved in project feasibility study for some potential investors who are stakeholders of palm
biomass.
Though there has not been any successful project implementation till now, possibly owing to scarce
funding for such biomass resource conversion projects, amongst others, we are of the view that with our
recent offer of financial aid & product buy-back initiatives by our Principal, there will be renewed interests
for such green / eco-friendly ventures.

Organisation Profile:
SP Multitech Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd is part of the well-established SP Multitech Group of
Companies which has been involved in environmental engineering projects since 1996. The company is
dedicated to the promotion and development of green or renewable energy, specializing in biogas
technology and green electricity generation, and providing ‘waste to energy’ solutions. We design and
build biogas plants, and supply biogas technology equipment, including biogas power generators.
Using German technology for both wet and dry fermentation anaerobic digestion processes, we are able
to convert all kinds of organic wastes into renewable energy in the form of biogas or green electricity.
Potential Business and Environmental Collaboration to Offer/Request:
We would like to offer:
Biogas technology equipment, including biogas power generators (CHP), assembled or fabricated in
Malaysia in order to get a competitive pricing advantage. From our client’s biogas plants, or our own
plants in the future, we also have biofertilisers which we can offer competitively after the specifications
have been sorted out with potential buyers.
We request:
Marketing services for the above products.
For future large projects, we will need the support of financiers or venture capitalists. Such projects
include the ‘zero-waste parks’ for treating and disposal of large quantities of municipal solid wastes, using
the dry fermentation anaerobic digestion (DFAD) technology for the organic portion to produce biogas
and generate electricity.
Organisation's Achievements:
Over the last 16 years, the Group has completed more than 300 sewage treatment plants, pumping
stations and leachate treatment facilities in Malaysia. As an environmentally conscious organization, and
in view of the serious threats posed by the global warming phenomenon, we have set up SP Multitech
Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd to venture into green technology, specializing in ‘waste to energy’ solutions
via biogas technology and biogas power generation. To fast track our technological capability, and
knowing that Germany is the most advanced in this field, we have identified a German technology partner
and signed a Transfer of Technology Agreement with them.
After actively promoting biogas ‘waste to energy’ technology in Malaysia over the past two years, we have
been awarded an EPCC contract to build the first commercial scale biogas plant for a large chicken layer
farm, due for commissioning soon. This is the first in Malaysia, and encouraged by this first project, other
large layer farm operators are now seriously negotiating with us to build biogas plants for them. We
expect to achieve similar successes with our ‘waste to energy’ solutions for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
and palm oil mill effluent (POME) very soon.

3. Private Millers.
We are already in negotiation with some of the above entities to establish a composting plant to produce
biofertilizer and compound fertilizer. Some of them who have Plantations with mill, therefore the end
product can be applied to their plantation under a guaranteed buyback scheme with a set period of
concession. Private millers usually do not have plantation, therefore we plan collaborate with Our plan is
to forerunner in establishing our brand “VATA ASLI” range of fertilizer to be marketed locally and for
exports.
We aim to implement ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) in our composting plant
which is currently under construction and expected to be ready for implementation of EPP in 12-18
months’ time.
Conversion of EFB and POME into compost offers an alternative solution to oil palm industry waste
disposal. Composting system reduces methane gas generation, one of the greenhouse gasses, and
minimizes the risk of river pollution by palm oil mill effluent. Compost improves the soil fertility and profile.
More importantly, the use of compost could reduce the use of inorganic fertilizer and manuring cost. The
current utilization of EFB and POME as compost has yet to be maximized due to the dependency on
inorganic fertilizer as nutrient supplement.
76
The organic fertilizers are safe for use and promotes healthy and improved environment for inhabitants.
The organic fertilizer produced via this project contains insoluble nitrogen and are slow release fertilizers
whereby their effectiveness can be greater than conventional nitrogen fertilizers. It promotes high crop

Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) which is a by-product of Oil Mill factory is widely available of which
about 65% of EFB is either incinerated for bunch ash or recycled back to plantation as mulching or used
as solid fuel in the boilers to generate steam and electricity for the mills. By removing the lignin in the
EFB, we are able to produce Cellulose which is bio-polymer, bio-degradable, tasteless, odourless and
non-toxic which has various application for food and non-food industry. Cellulose from EFB in the form of
its derivatives, Carboxymethylcellulose is also bio-degradable, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic.
By maximizing the utilization of empty fruit bunches to form products of high value which not only comply
with the zero waste strategy, but also contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) to further
mitigate global warming. The Company is planning to implement Environmental Management System
(EMS) ISO 14001 in the company manufacturing operation to ensure that the environmental aspects in
producing Cellulose and CMC are carefully managed.
