What’s up with
healthy living!
Nova Scotia kids
discover it can be fun!
Everyone hears about it in the news: healthy living. There is a lot of information out there about being
active, eating a balanced diet and having fun. Doctors Nova Scotia and Sport Nova Scotia think
healthy living can be made simple and is something every person can do – even elementary school
students. Check out the schoolyard happenings of Taylor and Drew as they explore the importance of
being physically active, eating a balanced diet and finding fun things that get them moving every day.
Being physically active is a key component to leading a healthy life. Doctors Nova Scotia works with
organizations across the province like Sport Nova Scotia to help provide opportunities for more
Nova Scotians to experience the health benefits of being active.
Sport Nova Scotia, Doctors Nova Scotia and The Chronicle Herald’s Newspapers in Education
program are bringing today’s edition of The Chronicle Herald and this special section to more than
12,000 Grade 4 students across Nova Scotia so they can learn about living a healthy life.

Youth Running for Fun
Doctors Nova Scotia’s Youth Running for Fun program is a free, school-based running program designed to teach
youth the fundamentals of running in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. The program is open to any
elementary, junior or high school in Nova Scotia.
The running program coordinator helps each school tailor the program to meet its students’ needs and get the
kids up and running, literally. School visits take place when possible to support the coaches and motivate the
runners. Handbooks for coaches and runners are provided as well as water bottles for all participants at the
conclusion of the program. The program is offered at no cost to the school or students.
