Editor’s Note
We didn't have a newsletter in early June as there was little to report.
The year has slipped away and we are now almost into the new year. This
means a new committee. So if you are interested in being on the committee,
have a chat to any of the present committee members, or contact the
secretary.
After many years as junior coach, Kim has handed over the reigns to Jacque McKenzie,
who will commence soon. Jacque is a triathlete herself and very interested in developing
the junior program. She will be assisted by her father, Peter McKenzie who is a triathlon
coach. Jacque will be contacting all the present juniors. Jacque and Peter will both be
present at the club duathlon this Sunday so come down and meet them.
Kim has done a great job and the club needs to thank her for her dedication and
commitment.
Don’t forget to let me know if you have participated in an event or have
achieved something which is significant to you. If there has been an event and
your name hasn’t been mentioned, then you haven’t told me!

Champs & or some of TRE-X calendar events for 2015/6 –TQ calendar has them as

Australia has won the bid to host 2016 World Cross Triathlon Championships, so a great

Port Macquarie Ironman
How about our Jess Fleming? What a great result. Second in the elites in a time of 9hrs
42 mins. And Julie Drysdale well done, third in 12hrs 8 mins. A terrific effort from both
girls.
Jess, almost there!
Wayne, Jess and Julie
Gold Coast Luke Harrop Triathlon and Billeting
This is an extract from an email from Rachel and Sam Ladd who billeted one of the elites
who were looking for accommodation.
"We happened to be down at the Goldy this weekend to watch a friend race in the Sat ITU
Elite Women’s race & stayed on to watch the Sun events & spotted a few Noosa Tri Club
Members competing.
Anyhow, the Elite athlete we watched yesterday was our South African Billet “Carlyn
Fischer” from the Mooloolaba Tri week & whilst she was unwell & didn’t have a great day
out on the course it was still wonderful to support her & watch the other amazing Elite
athletes go by.
Our Billet experience was so wonderful that we wanted to Thank the Club for having tee’d
it up and we look forward to following Carlyn’s upcoming races & have all our fingers &
toes crossed for her to make the 2016 Sth African Olympic team, all in all a truly brilliant
experience and along with the friendly nature of the Noosa Tri Club this summer has been
a fantastic introduction to the sport for our kids."
Cairns Ironman and 70.3 June 6th
What a great day for Noosa Triathletes up at Cairns in the 70.3 and Ironman. Everyone got
across the finish line which of course is the first box to tick. Some of the results to hand are
70.3 - Basil Macreadie 5.32, Tony Black 5.34 and Ken Rae 5.36 and the Ironman - Sean
Clancy 10.44, Chloe Kay (complete with broken elbow from an accident 2 weeks ago)
12.38 and massive PB and Tim Rook 12.50. Nathan Glarvey competed in his first IM and
finished 13:12:57. David Chick gained a Kona spot.
Awesome guys!
Hervey Bay Triathlon May 16th 2015
10 Noosa Tri Club members, made it to Fraser Coast Tri today. Good results. 55-59 Louise
McNulty, Kerrie Crisp, Alison Caiafa, 1st 2nd 3rd. Ken Rae and Penny Hearn both 1st.
Cathy Milgate 2nd, Sue Hancock 3rd, Bonnie Allen 4th, Ryan Rae, Nathan Glarvey pbs.
Water choppy, bike course honest with a few hills. Not the same course as Hervey Bay Tri
previously. Well done everyone.
Not sure what happened to the Sunshine Coast Clubs challenge but we would have done
well if it had happened!
