The Beach Nite Band
The Beach Nite Band
The Main Stage music will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3rd
with the return of a few familiar faces. Formally known as the
Collegians, the Beach Nite Band combines a summer feel to popular
R&B, soul, disco blues, classic pop and boogie music guaranteed
to appeal to all ages. The Beach Nite Band, well known for their
“Carolina Beach Music,” offers a wide variety of music styles,
along with comedic showmanship from members Donnie Hagy, Ron
McCall, Deaton Jones and Steve Mattox.

Friday, July 4th at 7 p.m., the Main Stage welcomes the
Limestone based Americana style Heppy Kats. Heppy
Kats are a three-piece band that draws on the influences of
Buddy Holly, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Hank Williams Sr.
and Vince Guaraldi, to craft their original songs. The band
consists of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Mike Hilliard,
lead guitarist Mike Brobeck and lap steel guitarist Melanie
Hilliard.
Trey Hensely
Friday, July 4th at 8 p.m., the Main Stage welcomes local
favorite and country recording artist Trey Hensley. Keeping
true to the roots of country music is necessity for Hensley.
After picking up a guitar at the age of 10, he quickly and
took the bluegrass world by storm—even performing on
the headlining dates in theaters and outdoor venues as well
as opening for artists like Steve Wariner, former Alabama
front-man Randy Owen, Sara Evans, Marty Stuart and even
Peter Frampton.
Spirit of Soul Dance Band
The Main Stage will feature the Spirit of Soul Dance
band at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 5th. The Spirit of
Soul Dance Band is comprised of professionals and
accomplished musicians who perform a variety of
your favorite music from the 60s, 70s, 80s, along
with soulful sophistication and utmost versatility.
Based in Johnson City, The Spirit of Soul Dance
Band atmosphere for enjoying live entertainment and
the best in dance music.

Bring the kids down to the First Tennessee Children’s Area for free games,
inflatables, cotton candy and much more! Let the kids cool off in the misting tent
while you relax under a shade tree. Also located in this area is a festival favorite
for the kids - a huge 5 ton sand pile with all of the buckets and shovels to provide
hours of fun!

Stories Honoring Doc McConnell with Guerry McConnell The sound of a choo choo train is a familiar one in Jonesborough, but this one provides
free rides through downtown for children of all ages! Rides are provided free of charge.
You can board the train at the Festival Entrance on the corner of Main Street and Fox
Street, in front of the Christian Church.
Other Happenings
Kick Off Dinner
Join us on Thursday, July 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. for the annual kick off dinner sponsored by Food City
at the International Storytelling Center. This year’s menu includes a Low Country Shrimp Boil with
music by the Jonesborough Novelty Band. Tickets are $12 with proceeds going towards funding of
the Festival.
Parade
Everyone's favorite patriotic event during the Festival is taking place on Friday at 10 a.m. Enjoy
decorated floats, music and much more. Bring the whole family and camp out along Boone and Main
Streets to get the best view of the parade.

Contra Dancing
Join the Historic Jonesborough Dance Society in the Visitors Center on Saturday from 3 to 9:45
p.m.
Contests
Pancake Eating Contest - Brought to you by the Olde Towne Pancake House, the contest will begin
directly after the parade on Friday on the Courthouse steps. Contest is free to enter, winners receive
free pancakes for one year at Olde Towne Pancake House. Call 913-8111 to register.
Fireworks
Chili Pepper Eating Contest - We’re keeping it hot this Fourth of July - let’s see how hot you can stand
it! Brought to you by Chapo’s Chili Patch and Parson’s Son BBQ. The event begins on Saturday at 5
p.m. in front of the Courthouse. Register before 5 p.m. on Friday at the Visitors Center, cost is $2.
Movies on Main
Watermelon Eating Contest- It’s not the Fourth without some juicy watermelon! Jonesborough Area
Merchants and Service Association is keeping it cool on the Courthouse Steps on Saturday at 1 p.m.
There is no charge to participate and winners will receive gift certificates to local merchants.
Come downtown for the best view of the fireworks this year. Grab a funnel cake and a corn dog and
get ready for a big show. We’ll be setting them off at 10 p.m. on Saturday from Main Street.
Don’t miss a free showing of Goodbye Miss Fourth of July (filmed in downtown Jonesborough) on
Main Street in front of The Lollipop Shop on July 3 and Back to the Future II on July 4. Candy Bingo
begins at 8 followed by the movie at 8:45 p.m. both evenings. Candy Bingo will also take place on
July 4 at 2 p.m. and July 5 at 2 and 8 p.m. inside The Lollipop Shop.
Beer Garden
Come have a seat and enjoy a cold beer on Storytelling Plaza Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6 to
10 p.m. featuring Jonesborough’s own Depot Street Brewery. You must be 21 years old to enter the
Garden. Beer must be consumed within designated area.
Art Walk
Jonesborough is hosting the second annual Art Walk as part of this year’s Festival. Artwork is being
displayed in shops throughout downtown, June 26 to July 5. Winners will be determined by people’s
choice. Come down and vote for your top three pieces of artwork - voting ends on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Winners will be announced on the Main Stage on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
Train Display
A model railroad display will be set up inside the Visitors Center during the Festival. Brought to you
by Mountain Empire Model Railroader Club.
Tractor Exhibit
The Tri-State Antique Power Association will have a variety of tractors on display at the Visitors
Center during the Festival.
Jonesborough Repertory Theatre presents
1940s USO Show
Come out to celebrate with family and friends as the WJRT radio station takes you back to the
1940s with a patriotic theatre production featuring music, radio skits, commercials and dance.
You’ll hear classic 40s hits and so much more.

Chester Inn Museum
The Chester Inn Museum, a state owned historic site operated by the Heritage Alliance, will be open
to the public with free admission on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from
10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Inquire inside about free historic tours on Saturday, pending on availability.
Oak Hill School
Oak Hill School will be open on to the public with free admission on Thursday through Friday from
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors can stop by and meet Schoolmarm Miller and get a glimpse at what rural
life was like in the late 1800s. Mother Goose and her friend Canada the goose will share stories at
the school on Thursday at 11 a.m. and Friday at 2 p.m.
