Welcome to the
Delligeenagh River Café
at Kells Bay House
Our Café is named after the river which tumbles
spectacularly through the grounds. The name had
fallen from use locally, until a recent visitor to the
gardens recovered it from 19th Century maps in
the County Library.
‘Dealg’ being a thorn in Irish this gives us a loose
translation as the ‘The Little Thorny River’.
Penn and I are delighted to be able to revive this
beautiful name.
