Then this program is for you! We provide children an energetic alternative to daycare for a period of 1.5 hours in the mornings. This program includes a swimming lesson, play time in the water followed by eating your packaged snack, and wind down dry activity. This is a great opportunity for parents to maximize use of other areas in the facility while your child stays active under the care of our swim instructors. Enjoy our indoor play land filled with plenty of opportunities to develop gross motor and social skills. Each week we’ll inflate the gigantic bouncy Tree house and lead seasonal games and activities. Drop by the program for a calendar of seasonal activities. Parent or caregiver should be within arms reach of children at all times. Bring a healthy snack and water bottle. A small sided hockey game will be set-up on one side of the ice rink. Skate aids are available to encourage beginner skill development for young skaters. Family activity area available at center ice. Outdoor play time will be included at Gyro Park if weather permits. At each program location kids will have at least two activities to choose from so you have plenty of fun options all day long no matter what your interest. Instructors assess all students on the first day of lessons to ensure that they have been placed correctly. In the event that a child has not been placed correctly, s(he) may be permitted to transfer to an alternate level, based on program availability, at the discretion of the aquatic staff. If no spots are available in an appropriate level, the child may be withdrawn from the program for safety reasons. Not sure which level to register in? If you’re unsure what level your child should be registered in or it has been over a year since their last session, drop by for a FREE evaluation. One of our qualified instructors will assess your child and recommend the appropriate Red Cross level for enrollment. Cancelled Classes: Level 4 Level 5 Level 6 Level 7 Rookie Patrol Level 8 Ranger Patrol Level 9 Star Patrol Level 10 A minimum of 48 hours before a class starts, lessons may be cancelled where there is insufficient registration. We will attempt to find space in the next available class or issue a full refund. Classes may be cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions and a credit or make up lesson for missed classes will be applied. Waitlists: If the class you want is full, get on the waitlist! Classes with waitlists may replace any classes that have been cancelled. Combined classes: Combined classes are being offered in an effort to offer a greater variety of class time options to families. In order to avoid cancelling a class, we may be required to move your child to another time in order to combine 2 classes with low enrollment. She is a passionate fitness educator with thirtyfive years of experience teaching and training individuals and groups. She has a BPE in Human Kinetics, and is a CFES Certified Educator, an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Certified STOTT Pilates Instructor for Mat, Reformer and Injuries and Special Populations. Heather has created and presented numerous health and fitness programs, workshops and courses for instructors Dr. Heather Strong received her Ph.D. from McMaster University specializing in Health and Exercise Psychology. and the general public. Broadly, Heather’s research interests focus on understanding the determinants, processes and outcomes of health behaviour change in order to promote healthy life-style choices and psychological well-being. Specifically, her research has focused on understanding the psychobiological factors that influence physical activity initiation and examining the effectiveness of physical activity interventions for improving mental health. Professionally, Heather has worked in various capacities with those struggling with mental health concerns.
