This booklet is for parents with a child born between
1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 (inclusive).
It explains how you apply for a place in a nursery class
attached to a primary school in Enfield. If it is possible
to offer your child a place at a nursery, they will start in
September 2013.

Admission to Nursery Classes, 2013
This booklet has been prepared to give parents
and carers information about how to apply for
a community school nursery place in Enfield.
You will also find details about how to apply
for a nursery place at an academy, foundation
or voluntary aided school.
As well as nursery classes attached to schools
in Enfield, there are a number of other
preschools, day nurseries and playgroups in
the area. Informed Families – Enfield’s Family
Information Service has details of the provision
available and you will find further information
about this Service in this booklet.

Nursery classes in Enfield are part time and are open
during term time only. Children in nursery classes
attend either five mornings or five afternoons a week.
A separate leaflet is available from Informed Families
– Enfield’s Family Information Service (telephone
0800 694 1066) that lists other nursery classes, day
nurseries and playgroups run by voluntary and private
organisations.
Children who attend a nursery class attached to a
school are not guaranteed a place in the reception
classes of the same school. All parents have to
re-apply for admission for the following year. This
is to ensure that parents who do not to send their
children to nursery will not be disadvantaged when
applying for a school place.

WHAT KIND OF SCHOOLS ARE THERE?
There are four different types of primary schools that
may have nursery classes.
nCommunity schools. The admission arrangements are
the responsibility of the Local Authority.
n Voluntary Aided schools. The Governors are the
admission authority for these schools.
nAcademies. The Governors are the admission authority
for these schools.
The following foundation and voluntary aided schools
have nursery classes. Parents who would like to apply for
these schools need to approach them directly.

Latymer All Saints CE, Oasis Academy Hadley Primary,
St. Andrew’s CE Primary, Enfield, St. John’s CE, St. John
& St. James CE Primary, St. Mary’s Catholic Primary, St. Michael’s CE Primary, Wolfson Hillel, Woodpecker
Hall Primary Academy.
A list of all the schools with nurseries can be found in
Appendix 1.
APPLYING FOR A PLACE IN A NURSERY
CLASS AT A COMMUNITY SCHOOL
If you have a child born between 1 September 2009
and 31 August 2010 you can apply for a nursery class
for September 2013. This will be the September before
their 4th birthday. Children who are offered a place,
either mornings or afternoons, usually attend the
nursery class for a year before starting in a reception
class at a primary school. The place will be part time.
You can apply online at www.enfield.gov.uk/admissions
for a place in a community school nursery class and
further details about this are given on the next page.
Application forms will also be available from 1 October
but no earlier than this date. It is not possible to make
an application any earlier. Application forms can be
obtained from any of the community schools, which
have a nursery class attached or from the Enfield
Schools Admission Service. All applications are treated
in the same way in accordance with the procedure listed
on page 5. Applications are not dealt with on a first

From 1 October 2012 until 15 January 2013 you will
also be able to apply for your community nursery class
online. The online applications will be managed through
a secure London-wide portal hosted by the London Grid
for Learning website. The website address is
www.enfield.gov.uk/admissions
There are benefits to applying online:

Completing
the application form
COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FORM
If you decide not to apply online a paper application
form will need to be completed in full and returned to
the school with the nursery class that you would like
your child to attend. You will need to take evidence of
your child’s home address and date of birth to show the
school when you apply.
For evidence of your address you should provide two of
the following.
n a mortgage or rental agreement
n most recent Council Tax statement
n most recent child benefit letter
n a utility bill less than 3 months old
To confirm your child’s date of birth you may provide his/
her medical card or personal child health record (red book).
When you sign the application form, you are asked to
confirm you have received, read and understood this
booklet. You are also signing to confirm the information
you have given is accurate and complete and that
you understand that if there is false information, the
authority has the right to withhold or withdraw the offer
of a place.
WHAT IF I MAKE MORE THAN ONE
APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY SCHOOLS
IN ENFIELD
Parents should complete only one application form.
You may nominate up to two community schools as
preferences. If you complete more than one application
form, the Authority will take the form with the latest
date as the valid application and will withdraw any
earlier applications. If two or more applications are
completed on the same day, the Authority reserves the
right to decide which application to accept and which
to disqualify.
HOW YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE
DEALT WITH
Schools will forward your application to the Enfield
Schools Admission Service. Your child will be considered
for the school/schools nominated as a preference. If
more applications are received than the number of
places available, places will be allocated according to the
criteria (rules) listed on page 7.
When deciding applications, admission authorities are
under a legal duty to follow the arrangements described
in the published information. Because of this, we can
only consider information relevant to the published
criteria. These are listed in priority order.
If your child can be offered a nursery place you will be
sent a letter advising you of this on 4 May 2013. You
will be asked to respond to this letter within 10 days.
If you do not reply by the date given, the place will be
withdrawn and offered to another child.
If it is not possible to offer your child a place, you will
receive a letter advising you of this from the Enfield
Schools Admission Service. This letter will give you
information about any nurseries with vacancies and
invite you to consider whether you would like to apply
for one of these vacancies. This is likely to be only a
limited number of schools.

How applications are decided
HOW APPLICATIONS ARE DECIDED
LATE APPLICATIONS
For admissions to Enfield’s community nursery classes,
Enfield will always try to meet your request by allocating
a place for your child at the nursery class you named as
your highest preference. However, many nursery classes
are likely to be oversubscribed. In these cases, places will be
given to children who meet the criteria in the order shown.
Please note nursery places are only part time.
It is important to apply during the application period
as late applications will be considered only after places
have been allocated to the children whose parents
applied before the closing date. Nursery class places
are in considerable demand and it would be unusual to
have vacancies once all ‘on time’ applications have been
processed. It is, therefore, very important to apply at the
correct time.
The process of allocating places will begin after 15 January
2013, once the completed applications have been returned.
The Admissions Service will prioritise all the applications
that have been received for each school in accordance with
the published admissions criteria. This briefly includes:
n Considering the medical applications that have
been made.
n Verifying that children are siblings, living at the same
address and that the older child is expected to still be at
the school nominated in September 2013.
n Measuring the distance from the home to the school for
other applications.
Once all the applications have been considered under the
right criterion, a proposed admission list is drawn up for
each of the schools. The Enfield Schools Admission Service
will then begin to co-ordinate the offer of places. Your child
will be offered a place at whichever nursery class is the
highest preference for which they have qualified under the
admissions criteria. Lower preferences are withdrawn at this
stage.

If you apply after 15 January 2013 for admission in
September 2013, you will need to go to the Enfield
Schools Admission Service, Civic Centre, Silver Street,
Enfield, EN1 3XQ to complete your application form.
You will need to bring with you documentation to
confirm your child’s name, date of birth and address. No
schools will accept a direct application after this date.
The Authority reserves the right to accept late
applications, where it considers there are exceptional
reasons for the application not being received on time.
NURSERY CLASSES IN ANOTHER
LOCAL AUTHORITY (LA)
Children living in Enfield can apply to go to nursery
classes in another local authority (LA). Parents should
contact the relevant LA for information about the
arrangements for admissions to nursery classes in their
area. Parents must not nominate out borough schools
on the Enfield form.
Children who live outside Enfield may apply to a
school within this borough. Parents should contact the
relevant school for an appropriate form. It is important
that parents also apply for schools in their own local
authority.
Admissions criteria for nursery
classes at community schools
ADMISSIONS CRITERIA FOR NURSERY
CLASSES AT COMMUNITY SCHOOLS
e) Children genuinely resident within the school’s
designated priority zone;
The following criteria are used to decide which children
should be offered places when there are more children
wanting to go to the school than there are places
available. When this is the case, applications from
parents who nominated the school as their preference
will be considered before other applicants. The criteria
are in order of priority.
f) Children living nearest to the school measured as the
crow flies, that is, in a straight line from the child’s
home to the main entrance of the school. (Travel
by private car or public transport is not taken into
account).
a) Children in public care (looked after children) and
children who were adopted (or subject to residence
orders or special guardianship orders) immediately
following having been looked after;
b) Children for whom a particular school is appropriate
on exceptional medical grounds. Such applications
will be considered under this criterion only if they are
supported by an attached written statement from a
doctor. This must demonstrate that there is a very
specific connection between the child’s medical need
and the school requested;
c) Children with a brother or sister who will be attending
the school or linked junior school at the time of
proposed admission. The children concerned must be
living at the same address;
d) Children whose parent is a member of staff who has
been employed at the school concerned for two or
more years at the time of application and/or children
of a member of staff who has been recruited to fill
a vacancy for which there is a demonstrable skill
shortage.
All distances will be calculated by our admissions
IT system using ADDRESS-POINT®. This provides a
national grid co-ordinate and a unique reference for
each postal address in Great Britain. The grid reference
is provided to a resolution of 0.1 metres (10 cm). The
accuracy of each ADDRESS-POINT® is such that each
point will fall within the addressed building. In the case
of a multi-occupancy buildings such as flats where there
may only be one address point, priority will be given
to the applicants whose door number is the lowest
numerically/or alphabetically
When it is not possible to admit all applicants to a
particular school within any criterion, priority for the
places available will be measured as the crow flies.
Unfortunately, there have been some cases where
parents have been tempted to supply false or
inappropriate information to try and get a place at a
particular school, for example, by giving the address
of a relative instead of the home address. Information
supplied by parents is checked. If it is found that false
information has been provided and a place has been
obtained because of this, the place is likely to be
withdrawn. A place can also be withdrawn once a child
has started.

The Local Authority defines siblings as a brother or
sister living at the same address on the date when the
applicant would be admitted. The term “sibling” means
a full, step, half, adopted or fostered brother or sister,
but not cousins.

Priority zones
WHAT IS A PRIORITY ZONE?
Some primary schools have priority zones. The children living within these zones have priority of admission to a particular school. Priority zones are normally areas in which families who
ask for admission live some distance away from the school concerned, but who cannot reasonably be offered an alternative community primary school.
These zones may vary from year to year.
The priority zones relating to admissions during the 2013/2014 academic year are as follows:

ADDRESS
Admissions Service.
The child’s address used in the application for admission
must be the child’s place of ordinary residence, that is, the
address where there is a settled intention by those with
parental responsibility to live for the foreseeable future.
You must not use a business address, childminders’ or
relatives’ address or any other address other than the
child’s place of ordinary residence. You must provide
proof to support your address and the information will be
checked.
If a place is offered on the basis of false information,
the place will be withdrawn.
The Council do not accept short term accommodation
addresses which appear to have been obtained to achieve
proximity and so priority for admission to a school. In these
cases, the Council may require supplementary evidence to
support the child’s ordinary residence at that address.
If a parent or adult with parental responsibility is found
to have knowingly given false information to improve
their chances of obtaining a place at a particular school.
Any offer made on the basis of false information will
be withdrawn. If a parent to have knowingly given false
information to obtain a school place the actions will be
investigated with a view to civil or criminal proceedings
being taken against them under the Fraud Act 2006 or any
other relevant enactment.
If you move home after completing the form you must
tell the Admissions Service straight away. Changes will
only be accepted for admission purposes if satisfactory
proof is provided that a move to a new address has
taken place. Further information is available from the
When parents live separately, the application must be
based on the address at which the child usually lives
and as given on the child benefit documentation. When
parents live separately but the child lives equally with
both parents at different addresses, the child’s home
address will be taken to be the address of the main
parent/carer eligible to receive Child Benefit and Child Tax
Credit. If there are reasons why your child is not living
with the main parent/carer, you and the other parent/
carer must declare this individually by letter and submit
this with your application form for consideration by a
senior officer in the Admissions Service. If this address is
accepted, it will be used for applications to all schools,
including voluntary aided and foundation schools.
If your child has been allocated a place and you move
before your child’s admission, the application for a place
may be reconsidered. This may result in the offer of a
place being withdrawn if, for example, you move further
away from the school.
MEDICAL
In relation to community nursery classes, a small
number of children are offered places under this
criterion. Medical priority is usually given to children
who have an exceptional illness or disability, which
means that one school is more appropriate than
another.
If you think that your child should be considered under the
medical criterion when making your application you must:
n Indicate which nursery class you are asking for your
child to be considered for on medical grounds.
n Explain how the nursery class concerned can meet
your child’s needs better than any other nursery class.
n Ensure that a suitable professional, for example a
consultant, supports your request. This information
must be provided with your application. Your
request will be considered by a panel of senior local
authority staff. Further advice may be sought at the
discretion of the Director of Schools and Children’s
Services.
PLEASE NOTE:
It is not usually possible to give a child priority on
medical grounds after the allocations have been
completed if medical information was not submitted at
the time of application.
Lots of children may have some medical or special
needs when they start school but the majority will not
need to be given any additional priority of admission.
It is still very important though that you tell the school
of any medical or special needs your child may have
before he or she starts school. For example, you should
let the school know if your child has a nut allergy, is
diabetic or has received support from the speech and
language service.

Notification of decisions
NOTIFICATION OF DECISIONS
MORNING/AFTERNOON SESSIONS
Parents/carers will be sent a letter advising them of the
outcome of their application on 3 May 2013. Parents
will be asked to accept or decline the offer of a place
within 10 days in order that unwanted nursery places
can be reallocated. Children usually stay in a nursery
class for the full year. Sometimes, though, a child leaves
and it is possible to allocate that place to another child
on the school’s reserve list.
Individual schools are responsible for deciding whether
the place allocated is a morning or afternoon session.
If it is not possible to offer a place at the nursery of
your preference you may contact the Enfield Schools
Admission Service to see which nursery classes have
vacancies so that you can consider applying for any
of these.
If your child is offered a nursery class place it is on
the understanding that they will attend for either five
morning or five afternoon sessions. If you accept a place
at an Enfield nursery class your child will not be able to
take up another part time place in a voluntary, private
or independent nursery/playgroup unless you meet the
cost of this placement in full.

Waiting lists
WAITING LISTS
APPEALS
Children who are not offered a place at a nursery
class will be placed on a waiting list for their preferred
nursery. Waiting lists are prioritised in accordance with
the admissions criteria.
There is no right of appeal for a nursery place.
Any places that are declined will be offered to other
children on the waiting list. When it is not possible to
offer places to twins or triplets, their names will be kept
on the reserve list in the same way as other children. If
only one place becomes available and the children at the
top of the reserve list are twins/triplets, parents will be
contacted so they can decide whether or not to accept
the one place available. The Authority will not be able to
offer two or three places in these cases if there is only
one vacancy available.

ADMISSION TO PRIMARY SCHOOL
SEPTEMBER 2014
You will need to apply separately for a place in the
reception class of a primary/infant school regardless of
whether your child is offered a place at a nursery class.
There is no automatic right of transfer from the
nursery class to reception class in the same school.
Children eligible for nursery education from September
2013 will usually start primary school in September
2014. The application procedure for admission to a
reception class of a school will be from 1 October 2013 –
15 January 2014. A booklet providing information about
this process will be available from your local primary
school or the Enfield Schools Admission Service from 1
October 2013. The arrangements may be different to
those currently in place.

Support to find free, quality
early learning sessions
WHAT IF THERE ARE NO PLACES AVAILABLE
IN THE NURSERY, PLAYGROUP OR
PRE-SCHOOL OF MY PREFERENCE?
Enfield Council offers 15 hours of free early learning
sessions to all three and four-year olds in the term
following their third birthday, for a maximum of 38
weeks of the year, whether or not the provider is
attached to a school. These free sessions will be made
available flexibly to meet your family’s needs. This is
called the free entitlement. You can find out how the

be downloaded at www.enfield.gov.uk/if/downloads.
Informed Families – Enfield’s Family Information
Service (IF) publish a complete list of day nurseries,
playgroups and pre-schools in Enfield, but please note
that not all providers have signed a contract to deliver
free Early Education sessions (see next section below).
You can call IF for a list of these providers or search
online for these providers at www.enfield.gov.uk/fid.
If you have already used IF’s information but are
unable to find a place, you can contact them again
and ask to be referred to IF Extra – Enfield’s Childcare
Brokerage service, which can provide free and impartial
face-to-face support to help you find the right place
for your child. Eligibility criteria apply: see IF’s Childcare
Brokerage policy for more details.
WHERE CAN I GET THE FREE SESSIONS?
Providers must be part of the LBE Directory of Providers,
which means they have signed a contract to deliver
quality care and learning. This includes most nurseries
and pre-schools or playgroups, as well as some
childminders.

entitlement sessions. Your child can take their sessions
with one or two childcare providers.
If your child receives education in a maintained school
nursery or reception class, they are receiving their free
entitlement sessions, and they will not get more sessions
with another nursery or pre-school on the Directory.
HOW DO I GET THE SESSIONS?
Visit your local nursery, or pre-school and ask if a place
is available. Check with IF that the setting is registered
on the Directory. Read the factsheet from the Choosing

www.enfield.gov.uk/if/downloads.

DOES FREE REALLY MEAN FREE?
Yes. All sessions must be free to parents at the point of
delivery and there should be no conditions attached
to a free place. Any fees, for such as additional hours or
lunches, must be presented clearly to you and agreed,
prior to your child starting at the setting.
The provider receives funding for delivering the Free
Entitlement sessions your child uses. If your child
takes up more than the Free Entitlement, or accesses
additional services, then you will have to pay any extra
fees. For example, if your child attends a four-hour
session with a provider who offers an Extended Offer
of three hours, you will have to pay the provider for the
additional hour. Don’t forget that if you work, you may
be eligible to claim the childcare element of Working
Tax Credits, or your employer may provide childcare
vouchers to help you with meeting the costs of your
childcare. You will be asked to sign an agreement to say
that you are not already receiving the Free Entitlement
sessions that you are claiming from another provider.

Special educational needs
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Enfield provides a range of specialist facilities and
support services for children who have special
educational needs. The special educational needs of
most children are met in mainstream schools through
arrangements made by the schools themselves.
If you think your child has special educational needs you
should talk to your child’s teacher about your worries.
If you are still concerned, there will be somebody in the
school responsible for special educational needs who
will be happy to talk to you. This person is called the
Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) in primary schools.
The person may be a class teacher, a specialist teacher,
a deputy head or the headteacher, depending on the
arrangements made by the school. Each school also has
a Governor who has responsibility for special needs.
The school may decide, after talking to you, that your
child should have specialist support from within the
school or advice and support from one or more of
Enfield’s special educational needs services.
When this support has been in place for some time
your child’s progress will be reviewed. If you and the
school are still concerned that your child is not making
enough progress a statutory assessment under the
1996 Education Act may be necessary. The statutory
assessment will be co-ordinated by SEN Services at
Enfield Education Services. Further information about

CHILDREN WITH A STATEMENT OF SPECIAL
EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
In some cases, priority of admission to a particular
school may be given to children if the LA has agreed to
name that school on the child’s statement of special
educational needs. In these cases, if your child would not
normally have obtained a place in the school through
the normal admissions process described earlier in this
booklet, priority will only be given to those children who
have an overriding need for the school concerned i.e. it
is adapted or has a resource base that can meet their
particular need. If you ask for a particular school, SEN
Services will send your child’s details to the Governors
of the School. The Governors will consider if naming the
school in your child’s statement will:
n be appropriate for the child’s age, ability, aptitude or
special educational needs;
n be compatible with the provision of efficient
education of other pupils already attending
the school;
n be an efficient use of the LA’s resources.
If they feel that naming their school on your child’s
statement of Special Educational Needs is inappropriate
they will put their reasons in writing. These will then be
considered by the LA’s SEN Panel who will advise the LA
whether or not to name that school.

FAMILY HOLIDAYS DURING TERM TIME
Under normal circumstances it is expected that family
holidays will be arranged during school holiday periods.
Where it is impossible for a child to attend school
because of holiday arrangements, parents should notify
the school in writing, giving as much notice as possible,
unless there are exceptional circumstances. Holidays
taken during term-time which are longer than two
weeks in duration may result in the child’s place at the
school being re-allocated.
Where children are taken out of school without seeking
permission, these absences will be deemed unauthorised.
In such cases schools can refer to the Education Welfare
Service with regard to penalty notices.
RELIGIOUS PREFERENCE
There is no provision in community schools for the
particular needs of any religious group. Parents who,
because of their religious convictions, wish to withdraw
their child from assembly or from Religious Education,
need to discuss this with their Headteacher. The religious
preferences of parents as they may affect the education
of their child, will not be taken into account when
considering applications for non-denominational schools.

Are you looking after
someone else’s child?
If you are caring for a child under the age of 16 (or 18
if disabled) for 28 days or more, and you are not a close
relative, this is called a ‘private fostering’ arrangement. A
close relative is defined as either a grandparent, sibling,
aunt or uncle (whether blood relative or by marriage) or
a stepparent.
All private fostering arrangements have to be registered
with the local authority because local authorities have
a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of all
children in their borough, and to ensure that those in
private fostering arrangements are safe and secure.
What the law says:
n By law, all private fostering arrangements have to be
registered with the local authority where the private
foster carer lives.
n If you intend to look after someone else’s child for
more than 28 days you must inform Enfield Children
and Families Social Care at least 6 weeks before the
child comes to live with you.
n Where an emergency arrangement has been made
you must inform Enfield Children and Families Social
Care within 48 hours of the child’s arrival.
Private fostering is based on parental consent for the
duration of the arrangements, and birth parents retain
parental responsibility all of the time.
Birth parents should inform Enfield Children and Families
Social Care of their intention to have someone else look
after their child.
Private foster carers become responsible for the
day-to-day care of the child they are looking after.
They are responsible for carrying out any duties agreed
with the parents and must allow a social worker to
visit the child being looked after at the carer’s home.
Birth parents should provide the carer with details of
their child’s school and health, information about their
history, language, religion, interests, dietary needs,
hobbies, likes and dislikes etc.
It is a good idea for parents to have a written
agreement with the carer so that everyone is clear
about how the child should be cared for. This should
include consent to medical treatment, educational
issues and financial arrangements. It is important that
birth parents keep in regular contact with their children
and with the carers. If they do not, the child may be
considered to have been abandoned.
n It is an offence not to inform your local authority
about a private fostering arrangement unless there is
a reasonable explanation.

Who do I tell if I am involved in, or aware
of, a private fostering arrangement?
In order to fulfil their duty to safeguard and promote
the welfare of all children in their borough, Enfield
Children and Families Social Care will:

must contact Enfield Children and Families Social Care.
They will be pleased to hear from you. It is not their
intention to disrupt the arrangements you have made,
they just need to know about them and check that the
child is safe and being properly cared for.
n Act on information given by parents, carers and
anyone else about private fostering arrangements and
visit to assess the suitability of the arrangement. This
includes making checks on the carer and their home.
n Speak to the child alone and speak to the carer.
n Make regular visits in line with the law to ensure
the child remains safe and is well cared for. This is
within 1 week of being told about a private fostering
arrangement and not more than every 6 weeks after
that for the first year.
n Offer advice and support to the birth parents or
carers to try to keep the child at home.
If the child is deemed to be at risk of suffering harm or
has suffered harm, the child may be removed from the
carer by Enfield Children and Families Social Care.

Admissions Authority – The admissions authority of a
school determines the admissions policy of the school.
The admissions authority for community primary schools
in Enfield is the London Borough of Enfield and the
admissions authority of a voluntary aided, academy, or
foundation school is the Governing Body of the individual
school.
Community School – This type of school is funded
entirely by the Local Authority. The admissions to the
school are controlled by the Local Authority. If the
school is oversubscribed the Local Authority’s published
criteria for admission will be used.
Criteria – The rules used to decide a child’s priority for
admission to a particular school.
Curriculum – The total programme of planned work and
activities of a school to meet its pupils’ needs.
Foundation School – This is a school funded entirely
by Central Government and is independent of the Local
Authority. Admissions to the school are determined
by the Governors who, if the school is oversubscribed,
operate criteria for admission that have been agreed by
the Secretary of State for Education.
Key Stage – A period of study relating to a particular
age group. Key Stage 1 covers school years reception
and years 1-2, and Key Stage 2 covers school years 3-6.

Mixed Ability Teaching Groups – Children of a wide
range of ability taught together as a class: the work of
such a group is largely based on individual and
group assignments.
Priority Zones – Priority zones are normally areas in
which families who ask for admission live some distance
away from the school concerned, but who cannot
reasonably be offered an alternative community primary
school. These zones may vary from year to year.
Sibling – The Local Authority defines siblings as a
brother or sister living at the same address on the date
when the applicant would be admitted. Sibling priority
will only be given where the older sibling will still be
attending the school in the September that the younger
child joins. The term ‘sibling’ means a full, step, half,
adopted or fostered brother or sister, but not cousins.
Proof of the relationship may be requested.
Voluntary Aided School – This is a school which
although mainly funded by the Local Authority has
admissions decided by the Governing Body. The
Governors will apply the published admissions criteria.
At Voluntary Aided schools the Governing Body will
employ the School’s staff and have primary responsibility
for admission arrangements. The School’s land and
buildings will normally be owned by a charitable
foundation. The Governing Body will contribute towards
the capital costs of running the School.
