ABOUT THE NOOHRA FOUNDATION
The Noohra Foundation is a non profit, non sectarian, spiritual-educational organization. This unique teaching center was founded
September 2, 1970 in San Antonio, Texas by Dr. Rocco A. Errico. It currently maintains its facilities in Smyrna, Georgia The Foundation
is dedicated to helping people of all faiths understand the Bible from a Near Eastern Aramaic perspective. It was established to show
an alternate route one may take in biblical studies. The name Noohra is an Aramaic word meaning Light and enlightenment.
The Noohra Foundation presents direct modern English translations of ancient Aramaic biblical texts with their rich, sociological
Semitic customs and traditions. This research work clarifies obscure and misunderstood scriptural passages. It further strengthens
an affirmative image of God, humanity, the world and the universe. This teaching is not restricted to any particular denominational
biblical interpretation. It provides a broader understanding of Scripture and a practical application for modern living. The Aramaic
approach is direct and uncomplicated.
PURPOSES
To teach the historical Near Eastern setting of the Bible.

To make available biblical translations from ancient Aramaic texts with a special study of customs and language of the times.
2.
To teach and therefore preserve the Aramaic language for posterity.
3.
To continue research of biblical Aramaic texts.
4.
To enrich our lives through studying the teachings of the Hebrew patriarchs, prophets and Jesus.
5.
To apply the wisdom of Scripture to fulfill the needs of modern living.
6.
To increase public awareness of the value of the Aramaic work through modern media, lectures, classes, retreats, audio and video
cassettes.
7.
To publish books and the Noohra-Light periodical (for Noohra Members) that expand the Aramaic work and religious
understanding.

ROCCO A. ERRICO, Ph.D., Th.D.
Dr. Rocco A. Errico is founder and president of the Noohra Foundation of Smyrna, Georgia. The Noohra Foundation is
a nonprofit, nonsectarian, spiritual educational organization of Aramaic biblical studies, research and publications. Dr. Errico
is an ordained minister, lecturer, author, Bible authority, translator, Aramaic instructor, educator and spiritual counselor. He
is also Dean of Biblical Studies at the Rev. Dr. Barbara L. King’s School of Ministry in Atlanta, Georgia.
For ten years Dr. Errico studied intensively with the late Dr. George M. Lamsa, world-renowned Assyrian biblical scholar
and translator of the Holy Bible from the Ancient Eastern Text. He is proficient in Aramaic and Hebrew exegesis—Old and
New Testaments—and in the customs, idioms, psychology, symbolism and philosophy of Semitic peoples. Dr. Errico has
translated the Gospel of Matthew from Aramaic into English. He is also fluent in the Spanish language and has translated his
book The Ancient Aramaic Prayer of Jesus into Spanish.
Dr. Errico holds a doctorate in Letters from the College of Seminarians, The Apostolic Succession of Antioch and the
Church of the East—American See, a doctorate in Philosophy from the School of Christianity, Los Angeles, a doctorate in
Divinity from St. Ephrem’s Institute, Sweden, and a doctorate in Sacred Theology from the School of Christianity, Los
Angeles. He also hold a special title of Teacher, Prime Exegete, Malpana d’miltha dalaha, among the Federation of St.
Thomas Christians of the order of Antioch.
Dr. Errico has served as a professor and dean of Biblical Studies in schools of ministry for many denominations and is
a regular feature writer for Science of Mind Magazine, Los Angeles, California. He formerly served as an editor and writer
for Light for All, a religious magazine, and has held advisory positions with many boards of ecumenical religious
organizations. He lectures extensively throughout the country, as well as in Canada, Mexico and Europe, for colleges, civic
groups, and churches of various denominations and is widely known for his numerous radio and television appearances.

GEORGE M. LAMSA, Th.D.
George M. Lamsa, Th.D., a renowned native Assyrian scholar of the Holy Bible, translator, lecturer, ethnologist and
author, was born August 5, 1892, in a civilization with customs, manners and language almost identical to those in the time
of Jesus. His native tongue was full of similar idioms and parables, untouched by the outside world in 1900 years. Until World
War 1, his people living in that part of the ancient biblical lands that today is known as Kurdistan, in the basin of the rivers
Tigris and Euphrates, retained the simple nomadic life as in the days of the Hebrew patriarchs. Only at the beginning of the
20th century did the isolated segment of the once great Assyrian Empire learn of the discovery of America and the Reformation
in Germany.
Lamsa’s formal education and studies began under the priests and deacons of the ancient Church of the East. Later he
graduated with the highest honors ever bestowed from the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Colleges in Iran and in Turkey, with
a Bachelor of Arts degree. He spoke eight languages, and his lowest grade in any subject as 99. Lamsa never married but
dedicated his life to “God’s calling.”
After arriving in the United States in his early 20s, Lamsa worked by day as a printer, and by night he went to school.
He later studied at the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia, and at Dropsie College in Philadelphia. It
was through his struggles, during these years, with the English idioms that Lamsa gradually launched into his “life’s work”
of translating the Holy Bible from Aramaic into English. Yet many years were to pass before the world received his
translations.
First as a lecturer in churches and seminaries, in halls and auditoriums, before statesmen, theologians, groups of artists,
actors and others, Lamsa received recognition as a poet-philosopher and as an authority on all phases of Near Eastern
civilization. It was his own inner compulsion, and the urging of hundreds who heard him, that drove him forward and brought
about—after 30 years of labor, research and study—his translation of the Holy Bible from a branch of the ancient Aramaic
language that the earliest Christians used.
It was Lamsa’s firm belief that his translation from Aramaic would bring people closer to the Word of God and would
facilitate understanding between the East and the West. For forty years, he produced commentaries and many other works
based on the Aramaic language. The last ten years of his life, Dr. Lamsa tutored and prepared Dr. Rocco A. Errico to continue
with the Aramaic approach to Scripture. He left this earthly life on September 22, 1975, in Turlock, California.
