The Broome-Tioga Race Report Davis and Grenewicz Top Podiums at Broome-Tioga Round 3: 2012 Western New York Off-Road Association H (WYNOA) Hare Scramble Series urd Motorsports, promoters of the Broome-Tioga Sports Center, hosted round 3 of the Western New York Off-Road Association’s (WNYOA) Hare Scramble Series on Sunday, May 26, in Binghamton, New York. Bouwens was relegated to second. Murphy, Schultes and Fortner rounded out the top five. By the start of the third lap, the top five were all spread out. Davis remained in lead for the rest of the scramble and took the checkered flag with a 30 second lead. Bouwens, Fortner, Trevor Walter and Murphy completed the top five. Race day started out chilly and breezy in the morning with temp’s in the lower 50’s. The forcast was for lower 60’s and it took most of the day to get there! Track conditions on the motocross track were excellent at the start of the race program but some of the woods sections were quite wet and mudday from the rain that fell prior to the event that made identifying riders a challange! Rider turnout was spectacular and set a new record for the series! The pit area was filled to capacity and even extended to the back National Hill area, making it look like a Motocross National was underway. Track conditions for the day: Dry and dusty. The WNYOA race series uses a transponder system for scoring. Mechanics and spectators can monitor their riders lap times and position in real time on several large screen monitors near the scoring/transponder section. When the green flag flew signaling the start of the AA class, Kevin Kilmer led the pack into the first turn and was trailed by Anthony Howe, Timothy Murphy II, Alex Dzikiewicz and Nathan Page. When the leaders decended the back hill and re-entered the motocross track, Dallas Mica had the lead and was followed by Davis, Murphy, Benjamin Bouwens and Tyler Shultes. Nick Davis ( 87) won the AA division WNYOA Hare Scramble at Broome-Tioga. When the flag dropped for the start of the Vet AA division, Scott Rich led the pack out of the switch-back first turn and was trailed by Joel Grover, Mike Williams and Steve Ackley. Rich was still in the point position when the leaders exited the scoring area at the start of lap two. Wayne Grenewicz was now second, Joseph Potter third, Gary Bush fourth and Grover fifth. Mike Williams diced his way through the pack and took the lead on lap three. Grenewicz, Bush, Potter and Rich rounded out the top five. Kevin Kilmer (26), Anthony Howe (25), Tim Murphy (37), Alex Dzikiewicz (38) and Nathan Page (21) lead the pack out of the first turn in the WNYOA AA Hare Scramble at Broome-Tioga. After the leaders came through the scoring/transponder section and started lap two, Bouwens was now leading and was Scott Rich (121), Joel Grover (123), Mike Williams (187) and Steve Ackley (105) lead the start of the VET AA Hare Scramble. The Broome-Tioga Race Report Rich came back and re-took the lead on lap three. Bush moved up to second and relegated Grenewicz to third. Pottre and grover rounded out the top five. Rich held the lead for the next lap but was re-passed by Grenewicz on the final lap. Rich was relegated to second. Grenewicz held on to take the win. Rich, Potter, Bush and Grover closed out the top five. Rider turnout for round 3 of the WNYOA Hare Scramble Series at Broome-Tioga set a record for rider attendance which caused the race program to be delayed because riders were still in line registering when the promoted time for racing was to begin. Wayne Grenewicz (122) topped the podium of the VET AA division at round 3 of the WNYOA Hare Scramble Series at Broome-Tioga. Bradely Aman (5) and Jeff Pickens (86) lead the start of the Quad AA division Hare Scramble at Broome-Tioga on May 26th.
