National Propane Gas Foundation Scholarship Fund 2004 Winners Thirty-three scholarships were awarded this year, as announced at NPGA’s Pinnacle meeting in Naples, Florida. Furthering their education this fall as NPG Foundation Scholars are: AmeriGas Propane Scholarship Katrina Aragon (Tome, NM) AmeriGas Propane Scholarship Brad Wood (Elkins, AR) Bob & Linda Mayer Scholarship Kristin Fincham (Gordonsville, VA) Katrina is attending The College of Nursing at the University of New Mexico, to attain a degree in nursing. After graduating, Katrina plans to work as a pediatric or labor and delivery nurse. Katrina’s father, Henry Aragon, is a Service Technician Manager with AmeriGas Propane. Brad is attending the University of Arkansas, majoring in finance and real estate. After graduating, Brad plans to attain his MIA in appraising, and to eventually own his own business. Brad’s father, Jim Wood, is a Driver for AmeriGas Propane. Kristin is attending Virginia Commonwealth University, to attain a degree in business. After graduating, Kristin plans to explore many different fields of careers. Kristin’s father, Jeffrey Fincham, is a Service Technician for Blossman Gas. Felicia is attending Mississippi State University, majoring in architecture. Edward Woodrow Blossman Scholarship After graduating, Felicia plans to become an architect. Felicia’s mother, Josie Terry, is a Branch Administrator for Blossman Gas. Felicia Terry (Utica, MS) Bertelsmeyer Scholarship Joseph Miller (Rockwell, NC) Heritage Propane Scholarship Brittany Leslie (Las Cruces, NM) Joseph is attending King’s College, to attain a degree in graphic design. After graduating, Joseph plans to apply his graphic skills in a business. Joseph’s father, Michael Miller, is a Service Technician for Carolane Propane Gas Inc./Heritage Propane. Brittany is attending New Mexico State University, majoring in hotel, restaurant, and tourism management. After graduating, Brittany plans on working in hotel management. Brittany’s father, Wayne Leslie, is a Safety Officer for Heritage Propane. Jenkins Gas of North Carolina Scholarship Krystin Rice (Lumberton, NC) Romaine G. Holt/NCPGA Scholarship Krystin is attending The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, majoring in criminal justice. After graduating, Krystin plans on attending law school. Krystin’s father, Timothy Rice, is a Propane Manager for Quality Oil and Gas. Kelly is attending North Carolina State University, majoring in social work. After graduating, Kelly plans to attend graduate school for social work and pursue a career in school or hospital work. Kelly’s father, Daniel Thomas, is a Propane Technician for Green Fuel/Heritage Propane. Kelly Thomas (Siler City, NC) Suburban Propane Scholarship Sarah Salko (Tamaqua, PA) Mollie Reifschneider/Elaine Ruhl/Manchester Tank & Equipment Scholarship Sarah is attending Rosemont College, with a double major in mathematics and English. After graduating, Sarah plans to continue working on the National Assessment of Adult Literacy for the National Center for Education Statistics and the Educational Statistics Service Institutes, where she worked over the summer. Sarah’s father, John Salko, is a Service Manager for Suburban Propane. Jennifer is attending Texas Tech University, to attain a degree in restaurant, hotel, and institutional management. After graduating, Jennifer plans to pursue a management career. Jennifer’s mother, Arlene Sumner, is an Engineering Manager for Manchester Tank & Equipment. Jennifer Sumner (Lubbock, TX) NJPGA/Alvin E. Clayton Scholarship Katherine Cronin (Chatham, NJ) NJPGA/Alvin E. Clayton Scholarship Stephanie Hodul (Hightstown, NJ) Dynegy, in memory of Elaine Ruhl Scholarship Katherine is attending Columbia University, to attain a degree in political science. After graduating, Katherine plans to join the Peace Corps, followed by a career in either the Foreign Service or some form of humanitarian service. Katherine’s mother, Tammy Cronin, is Manager, Technical Training & Compliance for Suburban Propane, LP. Stephanie is attending The College of New Jersey, majoring in statistics. After graduating, Stephanie’s plans include exploring the fields of pharmaceuticals or actuary science. Stephanie’s mother, Linda Hodul, is a Secretary for H&H Gas Company. Robert is attending The University of New Hampshire, majoring in mechanical engineering. After graduating, Robert plans to attend a trade school college for engineering. Robert’s father, Carl Bisson, is a Safety and Compliance Manager for Star Gas. Robert Bisson (Hollis, ME) Dynegy, in memory of Elaine Ruhl Scholarship Jessica Robinson (Gurley, AL) Jessica is attending Freed-Hardeman University, majoring in English and history with a minor in political science. After graduating, Jessica plans on attending law school to become a judge or college professor. Jessica’s father, George Robinson, is a Route Salesman for Country Gas of Madison County, Inc. James & Elizabeth Bass Scholarship Genevieve Knauf (Lindsay, TX) Ancient Gassers, Inc., Scholarship Christa Gorman (Logansport, IN) Ancient Gassers Inc./Butane Propane News Scholarship Genevieve is attending The University of Texas at Austin, to attain a degree in business and accounting. After graduating, Genevieve plans to become an actuary and taking the CPA exam. Genevieve’s father, James Knauf, is Shop Foreman/Head Mechanic for Enderby Gas Inc./Bishop Energy. Christa is attending Indiana University-Kokomo, to attain a degree in nutrition/dietetics. After graduating, Christa plans to work in a children’s hospital. Christa’s father, Darrell Gorman, is a Truck Driver for TenBrooke Sales. Amanda is attending The University of Iowa, majoring in pre-med. After graduating, Amanda plans to become an anesthesiologist. Amanda’s father, Kirby Summers, is a Propane Specialist for Rolling Hills Farm Service/Growmark. Amanda Summers (Ankeny, IA) Jim Bertelsmeyer Scholarship Michelle is attending Westfield State College, to attain a degree in teaching. After graduating, Michelle plans to become a music teacher. Michelle’s father, Robert Caffrey, is a Warehouse Clerk for Ray Murray, Inc. After graduating, Lanae plans on taking the CPA exam, and to eventually own her own business. Lanae’s parents, James and Marie Tech, are the Owners and Employees of Watonga Butane, Inc. Tiffany is attending The University of Phoenix, to attain a degree in business administration. After graduating, Tiffany plans to take courses to receive fitness and personal trainer certifications, and open a fitness center. Tiffany’s father, John Pearston, is a Safety Coordinator for Eastern Propane. Suzanne is attending The University of Kentucky-Lexington Community College, to attain a degree in communications. After graduating, Suzanne plans to become a singer and entertainer. Suzanne’s mother, Teresa Dorroh, is in LPG Sales for Trinity Industries. Alison is attending Oklahoma State University, to attain a degree in nursing or radiology. After graduating, Alison plans to pursue a career in a health related field. Alison’s father, Lindeen Evans, is Owner and Operator of Yoder Gas Company. Trinity Industries Scholarship Alainna Pardon (Imlay City, MI) Williams Energy Scholarship Alainna is attending Central Michigan University, to attain a degree in business management. After graduating, Alainna plans to pursue a career in managing a corporate business. Alainna’s mother, Dawn Pardon, is a Secretary for Al Parsch Oil & Propane Co. Jennifer is attending Kutztown University, majoring in elementary education. After graduating, Jennifer plans to become a teacher. Jennifer’s father, Ron Lyman, is a Truck Driver for Ace-Robbins, Inc. Jennifer Lyman (Tunkhannock, PA) Daniel N. Myers Scholarship Photo Not Available Jonathon Honnoll (Steens, MS) Jonathon is attending Mississippi State University, with a double major in management and banking/finance. After graduating, Jonathon plans to return to work for Dowdle Butane Gas Co., Inc., where he has worked for the past two years. Jonathon’s father, Dannie Honnoll, is a Fleet Manager/Routing Coordinator for Dowdle Butane Gas Co., Inc. Angela is attending The University of Iowa, majoring in biochemistry with a Jack Capps Scholarship (At-Large) minor in chemistry. After graduating, Angela plans to attend pharmacy school. Angela’s father, William Kajewski, is a Regional Salesman for Dealers LP Equipment. After graduating, Logan plans to become an educator. Logan’s father, Michael Stahler, is Director of Marketing for Bradford Pratt Petroleum Co./Bradford Oil. Logan Stahler (Lyndonville, VT) Adam is attending Nebraska Wesleyan University, majoring in psychology Young Gassers Scholarship (At-Large) with a minor in both philosophy and art. After graduating, Adam plans to become a child psychologist or a school guidance counselor. Adam’s mother, Debra Emerton, is a Business Manager for Great Western Gas/Great Plains Adam Emerton Service. Andrew is attending Macalester College, to attain a degree in economics. After graduating, Andrew plans to become an economist. Andrew’s mother, Jane Korsberg, is Office Manager for Skelgas of Park Rapids. At-Large Scholarship Katrina Twing (Lee, MA) At-Large Scholarship Tiffany Varilek (Pequot Lakes, MN) At-Large Scholarship Allison Wichmann (Madison, WI) Katrina is attending Clark University, majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. After graduating, Katrina plans on entering the field of marine biology. Katrina’s mother, Lori Twing, is a Customer Service Representative for Ray Murray, Inc. Tiffany is attending the University of Minnesota-Duluth, majoring in international business, with both foreign language and marketing minors. After graduating, Tiffany plans to work, communicate, and travel on an international basis, and also make significant contributions to the business communities in the United States. Tiffany’s father, Roger Varilek, is Plant Manager for Lakes Gas. Allison is attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double majoring in genetics and biology. After graduating, Allison plans on attending medical school, specializing in pediatrics. Allison’s father, Michael Wichmann, is a Marketing Manager for Badger Energy Services LLC.
