Approximately 900 people work in the heavy industrial plants located
near Belle Plaine with as many as half living in Moose Jaw. Numbers
are expected to grow over the next year as the K+S Mine potash mine
becomes operational, providing new job opportunities in trades and
technologies, administration, management, and general labourers. The
two local potash mines, along with their supply chains, will need workers
trained in Engineering Technologies, Building Trades and Business
Administration. Training and industrial work experience will be required.

Mosaic® Place
YaraCentre
Mosaic® Place is a world-class hospitality environment
for sporting, entertainment and cultural events. This
210,000 square foot facility seats 4,500 hockey
spectators and showcases eight sheets of curling ice.
YaraCentre field house showcases four indoor soccer
pitches, walking/running track, and fully equipped
fitness centre.
Mosaic Place is home of the WHL Moose Jaw Warriors
and the AAA Generals. Since it opened in 2011 it
has hosted many concerts and televised sporting
events. Mosaic® Place continues to attract top
performing artists, like Billy Talent, Terri Clark,
Mötley Crüe, Back Street Boys, Three Days Grace,
Carrie Underwood, Wiz Khalifa, John Fogerty and
many more. No wonder this facility now attracts over
650,000 turns annually! In 2015 Moose Jaw hosted
the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

A state-of-the-art bicycle skills park will be constructed
soon as one of the finest in the country designed for all
kinds of bikes including BMX and mountain bikes.
The Moose Jaw Cultural Centre
and Mae Wilson Theatre
RuBarb Productions Inc. presents live theatre in the
historic Mae Wilson Theatre. The 420-seat theatre
features many professional shows including musicals,
plays, concerts and ballets.
Local school groups to internationally recognized stage
shows have performed at the Mae Wilson Theatre, a
fovourite place to perform because of its excellent
sound quality.

Andy has his own business downtown. He moved
here with his wife, she is a doctor and they have
three young children:
"When my wife and I are lucky enough to have the
same day off, as it rare due to our very busy lives,
we start with breakfast with the kids at home.
By 10:00am we are off for a swim at the
Kinsmen Sportsplex or turf time at YaraCentre.
YaraCentre is great because we can each get a
run in around the track while we trade off looking
after the kids.
Crystal and Kirby moved back to Moose Jaw
after following their careers to BC. Kirby
has his own business and Crystal works in
communications:
"On our summer weekends we love to do our
shopping at the downtown Farmers Market.
We usually browse through all the booths before
grabbing lattes at our favourite downtown café.
We often stroll through Crescent Park and take
a relaxing tour of the Art Museum and Gallery.
It's also fun to go for lunch in one of our favourite
restaurants within close walking distance of the
Farmers Market. We love the downtown's array
of unique boutiques and specialty shops but we

"We love the home we have built - it is in such a
beautiful area of town. Our day off starts with
coffee on the deck overlooking the gardens then
a trip to the off-leash dog park for a brisk walk.
The Wakamow Park Ecological Zone is a place we
like to sit on a bench and watch for deer, birds
and other wildlife who inhabit that area.
For fun we I collect our granddaughter (we like to
give our daughter a break too!) ...and she loves the
waterpark in Crescent Park and the playground

In the summer we love to go to Phyllis Dewar Outdoor
Pool or the water park right next door.
Often we get together with our friends and their
kids and have a picnic next to the playground in
Connor Park, with a great covered picnic area located
in the river valley.
There are so many great annual family events. We
love the Santa Claus Parade, the Hometown Fair, and
Sidewalk Days in July. We never miss the Motif Festival
with the wonderful selection of different foods and
entertainment from all over the world.

Every summer we look forward to the many festivals
and events. One of our favourites is the multicultural
Motif. And then there's Festival of Words – a three-day
event that showcases famous writers.
When our friends from British Columbia visit we take
them on one of our two underground Moose Jaw Tunnel
tours. We love meeting Al Capone and hearing the story
of Chicago gangsters who used to frequent our city.
But I think my favourite tunnel tour is the Passage to
Fortune - the story of the Chinese immigrants who lived
here and helped build Canada's national railway.

too often we go for ice cream!
We enjoy our season ticket to the Mae Wilson Theatre
with RuBarb Productions – performing arts company –
producing some fantastic live theatre performances all
year round. Summertime means live entertainment in
Crescent Park.
We also love to go shopping downtown and often stop
at one of the downtown restaurants to relax with
friends over a glass of wine.
We spend a lot of time on one of the three local golf
courses. But in the winter, while my husband heads

A lot of our summertime is filled with biking the Trans
Canada trails around the city and challenging the
nationally acclaimed mountain biking trails at Buffalo
Pound Park. We also enjoy canoeing the Moose Jaw
river. Winters are lots of fun too – we love cross-country
skiing along the river or skating on the outdoor Oval in
River Park.
Evenings we like to go out to our favourite local pub
for trivia or to see live entertainment at Mae Wilson
Theatre. And of course we try to attend most of the
live concerts held at Mosaic® Place. We love Moose Jaw
because there is always something fun to do all year
long!"

library. One of our most relaxing activities is taking
a rejuvenating dip in the hot mineral waters at the
spa. The 'best' is sitting in the hot outdoor pool with
snowflakes falling on our heads!
We both volunteer with our service clubs throughout
the year and that's a lot of fun. Most recently we helped
raise money for medical equipment for our new hospital.
The community is so giving and it makes us proud to do
what we can to help. Moose Jaw has been a great place
to raise our family, and now our daughter is raising her
daughter here. Moose Jaw really is such a great place to
retire… and it's a very affordable place to live too!"

per cubic meter consumed. Sewer service connections

Moose Jaw Transit operates from 7:15 am until 6:45 pm on Monday and
Tuesday. Late night service is available Wednesday to Friday with service
ending at 7:45 pm. Buses depart from the downtown core every half hour.
On Saturdays, service operates from 7:15 am to 6:45 pm with hourly service
from the downtown core for the Sunningdale and Westmount routes, whereas
the Athabasca E and Athabasca West/Thatcher routes operate every half hour.
A Family Pass discount of $10.00 per pass is available for each pass
purchased for a family group. Forms must be completed, signed by an
adult family member and submitted at the time of pass purchases.

PARKS Wakamow Valley provides several popular familyoriented parks along the Moose Jaw River and Thunder Creek,
with picnic shelters, playgrounds, water parks, walking and
bicycle trails, RV campground, and outdoor speedskating
Oval. The historic Crescent Park is considered a hidden gem
in downtown. Buffalo Pound Lake, a short drive north of the
city, offers families both beach and boating fun, with ice fishing

Hamilton Flats near YaraCentre.
SPORTS AND RECREATION Overall, Moose Javians enjoy a
variety of well-organized sports programs, including hockey,
