The First Coast Sports Injury Symposium 2013 Lower Extremity & Concussion Update 2013 Saturday June 1, 2013 8:00 am – 3:00 pm Adam W. Herbert University Center at the University of North Florida 12000 Alumni Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32224-2678 Description of Event: Full day of CME/CEU courses on lower extremities and sports related concussion featuring local experts and prominent national guests. Join special guest, Jeffrey Guy, MD, Team Orthopedist for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, as he shares his expertise and experience with evaluation and treatment of lower extremity injuries. As USC Team Physician, he initiated immediate and follow-up care for an elite running back, who suffered a traumatic knee dislocation last fall. Objectives for Lower Extremities & Concussion Update Symposium • • • Develop increased skills and knowledge in the Anatomy, hands-on evaluations, pathology, surgical considerations, & rehabilitation of the lower extremity Learn additional skills in the on-field management of trauma to the lower extremities Discuss the latest concussion information, Florida Concussion Law and it’s impact this past year The Jacksonville Sports Medicine program is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education to certified athletic trainers.
