Left: As the 2010-2011 school year comes to an enc, BHS says goodbye
to Superintendent, Don Wilburn. Mr. Wilburn will be continuing his career
at South Harrison County R-II as the superintendent. WIth his departure
the school distirict promotes former Elementary Principal, Shelly Shipman to
the superintendency. The student Faculty and staff would like to wish both
Mrs. Shipman and Mr. Wilburn, continued success in their new positions.
The 2010-2011 school year also marks Mrs. Olsen’s last year at Brashear
High School. Mrs. Olsen was the elementary special education teacher for
thirteen years. After retirement, Mrs. Olsen plans to spend time with her
new grandchild and travel with her husband in their RB. Mrs. Olsen will be
missed by everyone.
With the end of the 2011 school year comes the end of Mr. Haupts service at BHS.
Jeremy Haupt has taught band and music at Brashear for four years, after coming here
from Chicago. Mr. Haupt led our brand in winning many awards, includin first place at
the Mizzou Homecoming Parade, first place at the Mizzou Homecoming Parade, first
Place at the Worlds of Fun and Six Flags Musical festivals, best drum major two years
in a row, and best drum line. Mr. Haupt plans to continue his career in the Omaha area.
He will be greatly missed by all students and faculty at Brashear. We would like to wish
Mr. Haupt well with all of his future endeavors.

HOMECOMING
The 2011 “Can’t Be Tamed” Homecoming started off
without a hitch. After being rescheduled twice because
of a area wide blizzard, and then another snow storm,
the Tigers were finally able to get on with the
Homecoming dance and basketball games. The
basketball games went well with both teams coming
out victorious over Macon County, with the scores being

Varsity Softball
The 2010 Lady Tigers team finished the season with a strong record of 14 wins and 4 loses. The Lady Tigers
were led by MVP all-conference pitcher, Cierra Hines Who also finished the seasion with the highest batting
average and the most RBIs. Shelby Salter and Meredith Thomas ,who both received 1st team all-conference,
made an outstanding contribution to the Lady Tiger team. Also, Kristen Love Received honorable mention.
overall, Cierra Hines And shelby Salter Helped the Lady Tigers by leading the team in both RBIs and batting
avarges while Meredith Thomas led the team in runs. It was a great season in witch the Lady Tigers earned
co-confrence champions, as well as taking 3rd place in the Atlanta Tournament.

Varsity Baseball
The 2011 spring baseball season came to an end with a season record of
11 wins and 4 losses. The Tigers had a great season in witch Haydon Coin
received the MVP award for both his pitching,with 103 strikeouts, and his
fielding. The highest batting average was set by Cody Snelling at.541 and
Hayden Housman had the most RBIs with 36. This spring Haydon Coin,
Hayden Housman, and Cody Snelling were named all district players.
Although the team will be loing this year’s seniors squad that was essential
in the play at state in 2010, there will be new players moving up next year.
The future seems bright for Tiger Baseball.

season. Early in the season, the
team walked away from the Green
City Tournament with a third place
trophy. Later, the Jouior High
Lady Tigers beat Bevier 29 to 22
and Novinger 18 to 11. The top
scorer of the season was Allison
Thompson, followed closely by
Ashley Moncrief and Alexa Acton.

The 2010 Junior High boys team fought very hard, although they didn’t
win many of their games. As quoted by Coach Kevin Terry, “The
Brashear Boys’ Junior High School team showed stedy improvement
throughout the season. Although this did not result in many victories on
the scoreboard, the experience gained with help our players in the future.
This year the team will lose several ninth graders who will move up to
varsity include Gus Mihalevich, Luke Morrow, Marcus Jefferson, Sam
Smith, Tristin Smith, and Dakota Williams.

Track
The 2011 track season produced many
state qualifiers. Joseph Woods, Gus
Mihalevich, Hayden Houseman, and
Daniel Anderson took 15th in state in
the 4 x 100 relay. Daniel Anderson
also took second at state in the 100M
dash. He also broke the 100M school
record with a time of 11. 31 at the
LaPlata Quad meet.

The Varsity Lady Tigers finished a very dramatic season with 11 wins and 13 losses. the Lady
Tigers earned a Co-Conference Championship with LaPlata. They also took 4th place in the
Novinger Tournament and Brashear Tournaments ,and a 7th place finish in the North Shelby
Tournament. The Lady Tigers will lose three seniors next year including 2nd Team TCC
Stephanie Elsea, Abby Mckim, and Sidney Slavin. However, the Lady Tigers will return with
a strong team in the 2011-2012 year with 1st team TCC members. Sophomore Shelby Salter,
and Freshman Meredith Thomas.

The varsity boys basketball team ended the
seas with a record of 9-16. The team
worked hard after getting a new Coach,
Jayd Frazier. They took 8th place at the
North Shelby Tournament a Consolation
Championship at the Novinger Tournament
and a 3rd place finish at the Brashear Tournament. Both Hayden Housman and Adam
Songer recieved 2nd Team TCC Honors
for the Tigers. The varsity boys will lose
four gruaduating seniors: Zach Reeves, Jay
Scudder, Cody Snelling and Adam Songer.
The team will return next year with a
great deal of expierence ready to win

During the 2011 Academic Bowl season
the varsity team won the conference
tournament before losing to North
Shelby in sectionals. Jay Scudder, Sam
Smith, and Alli Garrett were selected to
the all-conference teams. Additionally
Brashear swept the conference’s highest
awards, with Jay Scudder and Sam
Smith winning conference MVP for
varsity and junior high, respectively.
During the post-season, Nick Thomas
and Jay Scudder attained all-district
honors. Great work Tigers and try for
seven in a row next year.
