From the
By Molly Fine
Another year is beginning for IDCTA! We have a number of
new board members and lots of energy and talent. We are
all looking forward to a great year of learning, improving
our riding and just having plain old-fashioned fun!
January has been a whirlwind of events. On January 3rd-5th
we hosted Lilo Fore at Sunflower Farms, and as usual, she
was wonderful. Her eye for exactly what needs to be done
for both horse and rider is unparalleled, and her insights
are invaluable. Despite the awful weather, the spirits of the
riders and auditors were high. It seems that we haven’t had
good luck with the weather for our Lilo Fore clinics, but are
going to try again. She has agreed to find us another date
this year, so stay tuned!
January 17th-18th, Sunflower Farms hosted the “Ride in
Balance, Move in Balance, Live in Balance” clinic organized
by Lydia Gray DMV, which featured Jennifer Kotylo, Brian
Springmeyer and Beth Sabor. The clinic covered a combination of Eastern and Western disciplines: Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates
and Balimo. The clinic began with mat work, followed by
mounted work. The mat classes focused on basic
concepts of the various disciplines; helping the rider
find balance and harmony on the ground. During the
mounted session we put our newly learned concepts
into action in the saddle. What an amazing experience! Each rider worked on their particular issues,
guided by the practitioner. The auditors “rode” right
along with us as they saw the changes in the riders
and related it to their own experiences. I could go
on and on about the breakthroughs that happened during
the weekend, but I need to move on to other subjects. We
are hoping to schedule another clinic later this year so many
more can experience this type of work.
In the next few weeks you will be receiving a survey asking
what kinds of equine activities you are interested in. Please
respond to the survey with your thoughts when it arrives,
and thanks in advance for your help.
Finally, as most of you know, we have been having problems
with our website. The hosting company was hacked, which
has played havoc with the IDCTA website. The membership data was not compromised, but the operational side
of the website has been greatly affected. We are working
with the vendor to completely restore the operations. The
renewal process on the website is working and is available
for use. There is also a membership application on page
5 in this issue of the Scribe for your convenience. Hopefully everything will be back in operation shortly. Please be
patient. You will be receiving updates as we receive them.
With your help and support we are looking forward to an
action packed, fun-filled riding year. Happy riding to all!
