Clootwijck Nurseries participates as shareholder in Rasadnik
IVA d.o.o., an ornamental and avenue tree nursery located in
Cakovec, Croatia, near the borders with Hungary and Slovenia
in the area of the Mura and Drava rivers. Rasadnik IVA is
centrally located for export to West and South Europe.
Rasadnik IVA uses about 20 ha of various kinds of light river
clay soils. Over 180.000 different kinds of plant material are
planted on 18 ha, and the container field of 2 ha is filled with
320.000 container trees and pot plants. On the field, mostly
wide avenue deciduous trees are grown with a spherical ball
shaped crown. On its site, IVA opened a regional-scale garden
centre. In addition, IVA specializes in growing young trees
for export, so called “spills”, which are transplanted to Dutch
nurseries, allowing them to offer ‘3x transplanted’ trees.
Clootwijck Nurseries assisted Rasadnik IVA with business
development, defining company policies and procedures with
transfer of know-how for modern marketing.
Key impacts
Nursery Development
Establishment of a Nursery Service Center with modern equipment and
first demo plantings of 7 ha Introducing Dutch seedlings, equipment
and cultivation knowhow including 5.000 m2 of mother stock plantings.
Introduction of special equipment as well as planting, trimming and
occulation materials.
Second demo plantings of 7 ha and complete in nursery service center
as well as first contracted nurseries of 5 ha. in total. Introduction of
environment friendly and low cost efficient technology.
Business Development
Modern know-how, internationalization and sales in lawn and
ornamental trees as well as financial assistance and business
development is provided (marketing).
