Celebrations
NOVEMBER: Discuss human migration,
Native American Language, and
traditional family roles of long ago in this
program all about the Choctaw, Cherokee,
Creek, and Chickasaw tribes. Stare up at
the stars as you hear the Native American
mythology of the constellations. Even
examine artifacts from Moundville,
Alabama, and play authentic Southeastern

Reservation Checklist
We will need the following information for ALL GROUPS
requesting to book field trips:
Date and Time:
K-5th: Monday-Thursday, 9:15-10:30, 10:45-noon, or 12:30-1:45
Pre-K: Friday, 9:15-10:15, or 10:45-11:45.
Basic Field Trip, Focused Field Trip, or Dynamic Demonstration
Number of Students: Notify CHOM immediately if you have any changes.
Groups arriving with fewer students than confirmed will be charged for
their original reservations. Groups arriving with more students than
originally confirmed will be charged for those admissions upon entrance.
Be aware that extra space in programs is not guaranteed.
Number of Chaperones (required number plus extra, paying chaperones)
Plan for one chaperone for every ten children. Make chaperones aware of
museum rules before arriving. Chaperones must stay with their group at all
times. If chaperones/teachers fail to handle disruptive students, these

Bus Driver Information: Provide your bus driver with pick up and drop off
times and parking instructions. Buses may not stay in the loading zone after
dropping off groups.
Before you arrive: Collect your group’s money. Divide your students into
appropriate groups, and notify students and chaperones of their group:
Basic Field Trip: 10-12 students per group
Focused Field Trip: 10-25 students=2 groups; 26+ students= 3 groups

After contacting a CHOM staff person, you will receive a confirmation reservation
agreement. Your reservation will not be finalized until your agreement is signed by all
parties and received by CHOM by the date specified

Discounted rates apply to groups of 10 students or more. Reservations must be
made in advance to qualify for group rates. Rates apply to children and adult
chaperones.

*One adult chaperone per every 10 children is REQUIRED and will be admitted FREE of

CHOM accepts reservations from individual teachers for his/her class. If you
book for multiple classes, individual teacher names will be required, and each teacher
will be asked to sign & return reservation agreements accepting responsibility for trip
arrangements, including payment responsibilities. A deposit of $3 per person is due
30 DAYS PRIOR to your visit. The remaining balance is due no later than the day of
your visit.
Providing the best field trip means guaranteeing the materials for your group, as well as
enough museum staff to deliver your program. All field trips require set up time,
special materials purchased in advance, and extra personnel to deliver your program.
Therefore, a nonrefundable deposit is required 30 DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR VISIT. *
IF YOUR DEPOSIT IS NOT PAID ON TIME, YOUR FIELD TRIP WILL BE CANCELLED.
*All cancellations must be made at least 30 days in advance of the trip. Groups
who cancel less than 30 days in advance forfeit their deposit. If we are able to
reschedule, the deposit may be applied to a new date. If you do not arrive for your
scheduled visit, you will be invoiced for the remaining BALANCE DUE.
REMEMBER:
» NO OUTSIDE FOOD or DRINK is allowed in the museum.
» Guests with large bags will be asked to open them upon admission, and
may be directed to leave bags in lockers at the front. If you do not wish to
open your bag, you will be asked to leave it in your car or bus.
» Cell phones must be set to OFF or VIBRATE.
» SIBLINGS CANNOT BE PART OF YOUR GROUP IF NOT PART OF THE CLASS.
» We value our museum members, however, museum membership does not

Review this information carefully. Copy and distribute museum rules to each
chaperone before entering the museum.

PARKING:
Personal vehicles may park in any legal
parking spaces (2 hour limit by City). Free
parking for personal vehicles is available
in the City Parking Deck located on 7th
Street.
BUSES should load and unload in the bus
lane directly in front of the museum, then
move to the parking area on 4th Street and
22nd Avenue, across from Wilhagan’s or
any other parking available nearby. Buses
may not remain in the loading zone after
dropping off groups.
