yet affordable art to as many people as possible.

Bernhard Vogel lives in Salzburg and is one
of Europe’s most important, inspirational and
collectable artists.
His original watercolours are in many important
collections and hang in the Austrian National
Gallery. His etchings have a unique and
distinctive style and we are the only gallery in
the UK to permanently display over twenty of his
works.

Devin Miles has been christened the ‘Keeper
of Tradition’ of Pop Art and with his redefinitions
of technique and design, he is undoubtedly
one of the most successful trailblazers of
modern Pop Art.
We are privileged to have been selected as the
UK gallery in which to show his incredible work.
With his portraits, he salutes the icons of the 50s
and 60s without getting lost in the superficial
glamour of the stars of yesteryear. The complex
montages of motifs, writing fragments, emblems
and typical accessories of the era conceal a
subversive and sometimes ironic deeper
meaning.
His collages, a symbiosis of silk-screen printing,
painting, airbrushing and graphics on brushed
aluminium, illustrate a power and dynamism
and show why Devin Miles is held in such great
esteem by collectors worldwide.

Allan Morgan has been a gallery favourite
for twenty years. His professional career has
focused mainly on landscape painting although
he has also enjoyed considerable success as an
illustrator.
Allan’s inspiration comes from the light, colour
and atmosphere of landscape, influenced by
the Pre-Raphaelites, Fauvists and Impressionists.
His bold and striking work constantly remains
fresh and having spent many years living near
the coast, Allan regularly returns to this subject
matter.

Kerry Darlington is influenced by art and
design of the late 19th century, yet using
modern materials to create her unique style for
which she has become so well-known.
She was heavily inspired by magical fairy tale
picture books and stories during her childhood,
and had a particular love for Arthur Rackham's
intricate pen and ink work.
Kerry’s work is becoming increasingly desirable
and demand for her work continues to rise, with
her recent editions selling out rapidly and was
the winner of the Fine Art Trade Guild’s ‘Best
Artist’ award in 2012.
The Watergate Street Gallery was the first
gallery to exhibit Kerry‘s wonderful art over
fifteen years ago. We still choose the very
best of her paintings and always have up to
twenty on display.

rare and collectable modern and contemporary art
The Watergate Street Gallery has a wide
selection of rare paintings by the greatest
names in British Contemporary Art.
We are also delighted to have been chosen to
display work by artists from the prestigious Royal
Academy, including Sir Peter Blake, Donald

Sue Howells is one of our favourite artists. If
you have watched Little Britain, Eastenders or
Vicar of Dibley then there would have been a
Sue Howells painting on show.
Rozanne Bell was born in Zimbabwe, where
she lived for forty years. She exhibited her work
all over southern Africa and, through tourism, an
American market for her work evolved.
It all started in 1983, when she took her
young daughter to a crèche at the local
Adult Education centre. There was so much
noise that she left and went to the farthest
part of the centre and joined the art group.
In 2002, the political climate in Zimbabwe
necessitated Roz’s move to England. The ability
to adapt to a new environment, coupled with
her determination to succeed has created a
strong demand for her work here in the UK.
A talent who was recently voted best female
artist in the UK by The Fine Art Trade Guild, Sue
Howells’ work has become very collectable.
Roz has developed in her work a style and
technique which makes each and every
painting unique. Over the years she has cultivated her art through a natural flair and talent
which is now so evident in all her artistic styles.

Ian Fennelly’s unique and distinctive style
makes his work highly sought after and he is
featured in many international collections.
Ian says: “My watercolours aim to achieve a
balance between form and content. In other
words, allowing the paint and water to drip,
splash and dance across the paper in a natural
intuitive journey, but at the same time allowing
the images to come through.”

Mary Shaw’s stunning floral landscapes are a
welcome new addition to the gallery.

Leigh Lambert’s paintings are inspired by his
father’s childhood memories of growing up in
the North - special moments that stay with you
for the rest of your life.
She has been producing exquisite art from
the age of 13, when she received her first
commission and is never far from a paintbrush.
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1979, he began
to draw and paint almost as soon as he could
hold a pencil or brush. As Leigh progressed
through school, his attention to detail became
very apparent in his drawings and paintings and
this is one of the characteristics that define his
work today.
If not producing her own work she’ll be passing
on her talent to others during her classes and
private tuition.
Leigh’s paintings contrast the dominating nature
of bleak adult landscapes with the glorious
colours of childhood innocence.

Willi Kissmer has been living and working in
Germany since 1989, in a tower called
‘Homberger Hebeturm’
He paints on the top floor as the glass roof offers
him the best light. The engraving of the copper
plates, the etching and the printing take place
on the lower floors so you can imagine the stairs
keep him fit!
Etching is a traditional yet dying art form and
therefore extremely collectable. Willi Kissmer is
reputedly the world’s finest living etcher – who
could doubt it?

Talantbek Chekirov studied at the State
College of Art in his native Kyrgyzstan from 1986
to 1990 where he acquired detailed knowledge
in the fields of anatomy, graphics and composition.
He completed his education in creative arts with
majors in theatrical painting and constructive
art, after which his path led him towards the
world famous Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where
he took over the artistic staging of the scenery.
During his travels through Europe, Chekirov
studied the most important works and artists
that had been kept obscured from him during
his studies at college.
He currently lives in Westphalia and Baden,
working to capture his ideal notion of beauty on
canvas.

wilde
David WIlde is Manchester’s hidden artist, a
missing piece of art history and our most exciting
story at the gallery.
Born in Manchester in 1918 as Norman
Shacklock, he disliked his name and adopted the
pseudonym David Wilde, ‘David’ from his close
friend David White and ‘Wilde’ because that best
described his inner nature.
He studied at Manchester College of Art and
exhibited in Paris alongside Picasso and Dali in the
60s. While working in Salford, he became
acquainted with Lowry and Peter Blake.
After a short illness, he died in 1978 leaving behind
an incredible body of work covering the industrial
North, North Wales and beyond.
