Harvesting During harvest,
Setton’s facilities operate 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week and are
capable of processing over 350
loads of pistachios per day. Our
central California locations and
private fleet of trailers ensures the
fastest turnaround times possible.
With over 425 trailers, and further
expansion planned each year,
Setton Pistachio ensures first-rate
service for our growers now and in
the future.

Processing All pistachios are not the same. When placed in one of
Setton’s trailers, pistachios are tracked through GPS and RFID
monitoring so we know where they are at all times. Once at the plant
they are sampled, hulled and dried through a continuous monitoring
process to our silos. Our quality measures are maintained from our
ranches and our grower’s ranches to the final consumer. Our
company’s proprietary drying process insures they will become
America’s Best Tasting Pistachios™.

State-of-the-Art Facility Controls
Setton Pistachio’s food safety
program is perhaps one of the
most sophisticated in the entire
nut industry. Setton Pistachio
is ISO FSSC 22000 certified
which is fully recognized by
the Global Food Safety Initiative and widely considered the
latest and most complete safety certification standard for food
manufacturers around the globe.
Setton Pistachio utilizes stateof-the-art X-ray machines to
remove foreign material and
operates dozens of high-speed,
automated visible-light, infrared,
and laser sorters to detect
product defects and imperfections. Pistachios are then hand
sorted for a final level of inspection.

Focus on Sustainable Energy
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
At Setton Pistachio sustainability is
more than just a buzz word. We are
harnessing the power of the sun to
make pistachios even greener than
before with our 1.7 megawatt solar
power system. Setton’s solar power
system produces enough energy to
process 100% of our post harvest
pistachios.
We reduce, reuse and recycle all of the waste
and bio-mass generated at our processing facility
each year, ensuring none of it goes to waste.
Waste water is filtered and channeled back onto
our orchards as agricultural irrigation saving our
precious resource. Hulls removed during harvest
serve as cattle feed while shells are burned to
generate electricity.
