What’s New in the Knowledge Centre! Available for your reference R EP OR T S Climate Change and the Agri-Food Trade: Perceptions of Exporters in Peru and Uganda International Trade Centre (ITC), June 2015 The report presents the findings of research on the perceptions of agri-food exporters of climate change. It provides direct insight into the perceived needs of business and exporters in responding to climate change impacts in Uganda and Peru, to inform ITC, its clients and other Aid for Trade practitioners on strategies to mainstream climate resilience among exporters and to improve the effectiveness of support for adaptation. Part 1 on Uganda shares the perceptions of agri-food exporters in key export sectors including coffee, tea, cocoa, cotton, fruits and spices. Part 2, on Peru, shares the perceptions of agri-food exporters in the coffee and cocoa sectors The report gives recommendations from stakeholders on how to improve the delivery of climate assistance to exporters; includes bibliographical references. The Trade in Wildlife - A framework to improve biodiversity and livelihood outcomes International Trade Centre (ITC) , May 2015 This paper provides an analytical framework for assessing the impact of international trade in wildlife and wildlife products on conservation and local livelihoods. It also explores the role of factors related to particular species and their habitat, governance settings, the supply-chain structure, and the nature of the end market. The framework is relevant for importers and exporters, regulators, policymakers, non-governmental organizations, community representatives and researchers seeking to improve the sustainability of international wildlife supply chains. HSBC & Economist Intelligence Unit, June 2015 The European macroeconomic recovery is far from bulletproof. Although all 28 EU member states are expected to grow in 2015, businesses will continue to have to grapple with a multi-speed European economy as countries such as Poland rush on ahead, while others, such as Italy and France, struggle to make any great strides. It will also take time before domestic demand and private investment bounce back completely, while the increasingly real threat of deflation in the euro zone will send shivers down politicians’ spines. Business Risks and Opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe TMF Group & Economist Intelligence Unit, March 2015 The report published by The Economist Intelligence Unit finds that the business environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is strengthening in several countries in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), particularly in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. However, businesses still face challenges in the administrative, regulatory and tax environments. The report provides insightful information on business risks and opportunities in Central and Eastern Europe. The five CEE countries analyzed are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. These 5 countries have much in common as an attractive destination for business.
