2015 EACF Brochure - Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation
Benefits of Giving
The Community Foundation brings people in the EvelethGilbert area who require assistance together with people
who are in a position to give. By partnering with us, you can
experience giving that is:
• PERMANENT: Gifts to the Eveleth Area Community
Foundation benefit the community forever. Earnings on
permanently endowed funds create charitable capital to
improve the region’s quality of life.
• FLEXIBLE: We work with you one-on-one to fund what
matters to you. Whether it is a particular field of interest,
specific organization, scholarship or supporting the mission
of the Community Foundation with an unrestricted gift—we’ll
work with you to meet your giving goals.
• SIMPLE: One gift with us can address multiple needs in our
region—saving you time and money in investigating requests,
monitoring programs, and keeping records.
How Can I Give?
The Community Foundation accepts and encourages all types
of giving—both in time, through volunteering, and in money.
Some of the most common ways to give include:
• UNRESTRICTED GIFT: A gift to our unrestricted endowment
fund is a permanent investment that will help the Community
Foundation address the community’s ever-changing needs.
• OPERATING FUND: A gift to our Community Foundation
Operating Fund provides the resources necessary to grow
permanently endowed funds through the judicious use of
spendable monies.
• DESIGNATED FUND: Choose to support an organization
such as the Eveleth 4th of July Fund or help out with a
scholarship fund.
• DONOR ADVISED FUND: Allows donors to take an active
role in philanthropy by providing opportunities for the donor
to make grant recommendations to charitable organizations.

The Eveleth Area Community Foundation was created in 2008
to enhance and improve the quality of life in the Eveleth-Gilbert
area, and to encourage others to do the same. Since that time, the
Community Foundation family of funds has grown to over $300,000
in permanently endowed assets.
AS A DONOR, YOU’LL ALSO ENJOY:
• PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT: The Community
Foundation pools multiple gifts for investment purposes,
providing sound investment management of your gift at
minimal cost, while providing the greatest impact in your
community both now and in the future.
• PEACE OF MIND: Each year, we report to the community
through our annual report.
Donations can be given at:

• TAX BENEFITS: As a public charity, donors enjoy the
maximum tax advantages for income, capital gains, gift, and
estate tax purposes.
• ANONYMITY: While allowing us to acknowledge our donors’
generosity often inspires others to give, you can choose to give
anonymously.
What Can I Give?
The Community Foundation accepts a wide array of assets
including:
• Cash, Check, and Credit Card
• Stocks and Bonds
• Charitable Trusts
• Real Estate
• Bequests
• Life Insurance

Barrows Family
Celebrates Son’s Life
Through the creation of the Frank L. Barrows II Memorial
Scholarship, the Barrows family memorializes their son and
supports the education of Eveleth-Gilbert High School students.
The Frank L. Barrows II
Memorial Scholarship Fund
is the newest addition to the
Eveleth Area Community
Foundation family of funds.
The scholarship was created in
2014 by Frank’s parents and is
awarded annually to graduates
of Eveleth-Gilbert High School
who have strong academics
and a relatively high level of
financial need.
Frank grew up as an active
youth with his family on Ely
Lake in Eveleth, participating
in all the regular northern
Minnesota activities like
fishing, canoeing, skating,
and snowmobiling. After
graduating from high school,
he continued his education
at the Minneapolis Technical
Institute where he excelled in
his studies.
The family decided to create
this scholarship with the
Eveleth Area Community
Foundation following Frank’s
untimely death in order to
remember his life and honor

time, they are excited to give
someone a chance to follow
their dreams by assisting with
his/her education.
Selection of scholarship is done
