Production Staff Biographies
Duilio Mariola, Producer/Director
A producer and director with Western Reserve Public Media since
1999, Duilio Mariola has over 30 years of professional experience
in public, instructional, cable, corporate and broadcast television in
direction, videography, lighting and post-production. He has served as
producer of the station’s flagship local production, NewsNight Akron,
since 1999.
His projects of note include the regional 2000 Emmy Award-winning
Act of Duty, released nationally on PBS, and Main Street America and
Read It, both of which are in national distribution to PBS stations through
American Public Television. His last five educational programs produced
for the organization have been released nationwide by the Agency for
Instructional Television (AIT), one of the nation’s largest distributors of
instructional television. Mariola is a Kent State University graduate with
a bachelor of arts in telecommunications. He is currently pursuing a
master’s degree in journalism.
Adam White, Videographer
Adam White graduated from Wright State University in 1995 with a
degree in motion picture production. He has won regional Emmy awards
for his films The Restorers and Red Tail Reborn.
With 15 years of experience, White has worked on most every type of
media in many different roles. He now concentrates his time as a director/
cinematographer.
White is owner of Hemlock Films in Cleveland. The company
specializes in commercial film, aviation video production and Steadicam.

Mike Olszewski has worked in radio since 1977, with stints at WERE,
WRMR and WLTF. He joined WMMS and WHK for six years, where he won
top honors from United Press International, Associated Press, Women in
Communications, the Radio Television Council of Greater Cleveland and
the Press Club/Sigma Delta Chi awards.
In 1994, he joined WUAB and WOIO-TV. There he produced and
co-anchored the station’s coverage of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
opening. He then returned to radio at WMMS, WZJM, WKNR and WNCX.
Olszewski has written or helped author several books, including Radio
Daze: Stories From the Front in Cleveland’s FM Air Wars. He is an inductee
in the Radio/Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Ohio Broadcasters
Hall of Fame and Bedford High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of
Fame. In 2009, he won an Emmy award for his documentary Radio Daze:
Cleveland’s FM Air Wars.
Olszewski is currently working on several television programs for
national distribution and teaches media courses at Kent State University,
where he is also pursuing a graduate degree.

Jody Miller, Researcher and Interviewer
For 16 years, Jody Miller has worked in print and television media in the greater Akron area. Her experience
includes writing and editorial responsibilities for 12 years with Leader Publications; editor and publisher of
Bath Country Journal for nearly four years; freelance writer for northeast Ohio print media; and owner of
JMKMedia, specializing in media, writing and public relations projects.
Miller has been a regular panelist on Western Reserve Public Media’s NewsNight Akron since its premiere
year and has served as host for the station’s NewsMaker Akron productions. She has also hosted numerous
Western Reserve Public Media locally produced television shows, including panel discussions on Gov. Ted
Strickland’s Conversation on Education in Akron and Youngstown; Clyde Singer: American Artist; and an
ongoing series of programs spotlighting exhibitions at the Akron Art Museum. Her 2002 Western Reserve PBS
documentary Main Street America is still being viewed in national PBS broadcast markets.
Off camera, Miller has written the vignettes for Kindergarten Readiness, a collaboration among Western
Reserve Public Media and Summit County governmental and community groups, as well as the scripts for the
broadcast productions of Akron Symphony Orchestra’s Gospel Meets Symphony.
Miller has been part of the Generations project for the past year, doing research, conducting oral histories
and interviewing principal participants for the production.
Larry Chance, Scriptwriter
Larry Chance began his television career as a news photographer at his hometown station, WKBN in
Youngstown, Ohio. From there, he moved to Cincinnati’s WLWT. Looking for challenges beyond TV news, he
moved to Battle Creek, Mich., to work as an editor with Clark Equipment Company’s corporate TV studio,
where he wrote, produced and directed productions.
He later produced local programs with QUBE Interactive Cable TV. Before relocating to North Carolina, he
worked as a staff producer with Image Producers in Canfield, Ohio. From there, he spent 10 years producing,
directing and writing corporate productions for RJR Nabisco in Winston-Salem, N.C. He began Last Chance
Productions in 1993, serving broadcast and corporate clients including NASCAR. He has written numerous
shows for Western Reserve Public Television, including the Emmy Award winning-script for Math and Science
Gumbo and the Emmy-nominated script for Antarctica: 90 Degrees South.
Chance and his wife, Jacqui, visited Cuyahoga Valley National Park and bicycled on the Towpath Trail two
summers ago — they loved the ride!
