Amidst the hustle and bustle of NAB 2006, “the world’s largest electronic
media show,” Sony Media Software gained worldwide attention when we
announced the launch of our new Cinescore software. A breakthrough
concept in music creation, Cinescore automatically generates complete

It’s been several months since the announcement of

Use new project nesting to add a Vegas project (.veg) to the timeline and edit

The DVD+R DL format allows users of drives such as
the Sony DRU-700A to burn DVD discs containing
up to 8.5 GB of data. Most DVD players will be able

A/V Synchronization Detect and Repair
When audio and video events are not aligned, Vegas software will highlight the
events in the timeline so you can see synchronization problems at a glance. The
software determines whether source events are synchronized by comparing
grouped and overlapping media.
System-Wide Media Management

Project References in Rendered Files
When your Vegas project uses media that was rendered with an embedded
project path reference, you can easily open the source project in the associated
application if you need to edit the media later. For example, imagine that you
have an audio file on the Vegas timeline that was rendered from an ACID project.
In previewing your Vegas project, you discover that you accidentally rendered
your ACID project with a critical track muted. You can simply right-click the
event on the Vegas timeline and choose Edit Source Project from the shortcut
menu to reopen your ACID project, unmute the track, and then rerender it.
Multiangle Video Selection
Add video tracks to allow multiple
viewing angles. During playback, press
the Angle button on the remote control
to change angles. You can add up to eight video tracks for each title.
Theme Export
Automate the process of creating custom themes. The characteristics of a menu
(backgrounds, button placement, images, etc.) can be saved and added to the

Boris Software
Boris FX 8 is the industry standard for integrated effects
creation. FX is a great value with realistic lighting, advanced
keying and color correction, compositing, DVE, vector paint
and support for third-party After Effects filters. The Library
Browser provides hundreds of customizable presets for easy
application in Sony Vegas software and 20 other NLEs. More
than 90 filters include motion tracking and image stabilization, as well as selfanimating natural effects that easily interact with timeline video. Vegas users
can buy Boris FX 7 for $199 or buy both Boris FX and Graffiti for $299.
Boris Red 3GL dramatically expands the compositing and
effects capabilities of Vegas software. Red is an integrated
solution for editors who require broadcast-quality features
for titling, effects, compositing and 3D directly inside their
nonlinear editing systems. Red combines all the features of FX
and Graffiti, including OpenGL accelerated playback. Red then
adds functionality including standalone rendering, true Z-space intersection,
a 3D Particle system, additional filters and Adobe Illustrator animation and
extrusion. Vegas users can buy Boris Red for $999.
Boris Graffiti 4 is a vector-based titling plug-in. Animate
2D and 3D titles over your timeline video without importing
and exporting. Easily create sophisticated extruded text and
shapes with bump maps, reflections and textures as well as
animatable 2D and 3D charts. Advanced options include jitter,
randomization, text on a path, and type-on animation. An
expansive Style Palette and Library Browser streamline title creation. Graffiti
puts the most innovative, user-friendly titling tools in the industry at your
fingertips.
Animator’s Toolbar puts valuable time saving tools at the fingertips of any
Mirage animator. Things like toon shadows can be applied to characters over
time with a single button push. White substrate of scanned images can easily
be removed, and further cleaned up automatically to remove light perspective
lines and other unwanted strokes. Timing modifications are easy with the
Animators Toolbar. This enormous time saver was developed in conjunction
with professional Hollywood animators.
