The Nerve- racking Coaster The Sheikra.... it`s one of the world`s
The Nerve- racking Coaster The Sheikra.... it's one of the world's most extreme roller coasters. One ride on it will make your adrenaline rush and your heart pound out of your chest. With a 200-foot drop at a 90-degree angle, there's no way to resist the Sheikra. As I walked into Busch Gardens Theme Park, the one thing I couldn't get off of my mind was the Sheikra. It was the most monstrous roller coaster I'd ever seen or heard about. With its impressive 200-foot drop and sharp turns, it surpasses all of the other rides in the park. "So are you actually going to ride it this time?", said my sister Leah. "I'm not going to be a chicken like last time Leah, so you can stop picking on me", I said. "Ok, whatever you say..." she said in that sarcastic tone of voice. I know that I told my sister that I would go on the coaster, but I was still a bit nervous and shaky. You see, last time we went to Busch Gardens back in 2009,1 chickened out of riding the Sheikra when I saw its deep plunges and sharp turns. However, 2010 was my year, my year to do what I've been waiting for. I remember the first time I went on the Sheikra as if it was yesterday. It was probably the most exciting experience of my life. A lot went on, however, before li actually conquered that beast. I remember the fact that it was around Halloween when we were at Busch Gardens that year. There was a special Halloween event going on that takes place annually. It was called "Howl- 0 -Scream". There would be terrifying haunted houses at night and people would just randomly jump out at you, then you'd feel like you were about to wet your pants. That was a really exciting feeling though. When we were at Busch Gardens, my little stepbrother, Harrison was being his normal, cheery self. I never really knew if he was scared to go on the Sheikra, since he was always hyper and peppy. My older stepbrother Brian was quiet and kind as usual. He had been on the Sheikra at least two times already in the past four years. My stepfather and mom were fun and awesome as usual. Then there was my older sister Leah who bothered me a lot. I also bothered her back, but we still loved each other. Our family had booked a two- night stay at a nice house only about twenty miles from the theme park. It was our second day when I was going to ride the Sheikra and I couldn't get it off my mind. We were in the park, walking to the Sheikra when Harrison said," Hannah can you sit next to me on the Sheikra?" "Sure." Then all of a sudden..."ROAR!" "Ahhh!!!" I screamed as I started running in circles. Then I realized it was some guy dressed up in a werewolf costume. "Whew, what a relief", I said. "HAHA! You were scared out of your skin!" screamed my sister Leah. "Watch, next time someone will jump out at you, and I'll be the one laughing!" As time passed, the night fell, and haunted houses were being set up. My anticipation for the Sheikra was growing. I had no idea how I would react to the ride. The scary part was that they just recently made the ride floorless, so your feet would just dangle there and what not. There was a drop (not the 200- foot one) where the ride descended into a foggy tunnel. "What an action-packed coaster!" I thought to myself. It was around 7 p.m. when we were nearing the Sheikra. Bright red was a perfect color for the coaster because it stood out and it was easy to find. Red wasn't the only way it stood out though. There was also a point of the coaster at the 200- foot drop that towered above the whole park. The line wasn't too long or short after we finally got in after all of the walking. It was fair and not as long as I expected. There were many steps we had to climb to get to the place where they load you onto the ride. There were only four rows in a car, but eight people could fit into one. We got into the first row! "Yes! I can't believe we actually got into the first row!" I said as we were taking our seats on the ride." Are you ready for this everybody?" said my mom. There were "yeses" and "yeahs" as we replied to her. The coaster was ascending, preparing for the big drop. That made butterflies grow in my stomach even more. I vividly remember the part after you go up the ascending hill in the beginning, that they hold you at the 200- foot drop for about six seconds. The just dangle you there, and all you can do is look down but all you will see is your feet because the drop is at a 90- degree vertical angle. I couldn't look, I couldn't watch! My feet were just dangling above empty space! The finally I opened my eyes at the last second when all I saw was my feet high in the air and nothing more. I screamed as we plummeted towards the ground at a 90-degree angle. "Ahhhhh!" screamed my sister. All I could do was laugh in my head. Whoosh! The Sheikra took sharp turn then went straight down into the foggy tunnel. "Woohoo!" I screamed as the butterflies went away and an adrenaline rush was coming on. Then, the coaster splashed in a small lake below, which was the water part of the ride where your feet get a little wet. Then before I knew it, the Sheikra was over, just like that. I loved it, but at the same time I wished there was more to it. All I could think to myself at the time was, "I can't believe I did it!" The two funniest parts when we were on the ride was when my sister screamed her head off and Harrison's hair was sticking up at he end. All we were talking about on the car ride back to the rental house was the Sheikra and all of our different reactions. Leah stopped picking on me because she knew she screamed so loud that Alaska could hear her, and that I rode it without being a chicken. All in all, the Sheikra in Busch Gardens was probably the most exciting and thrilling experience of my life. I'm so happy that I actually rode it. I can't wait until they build another coaster.
