On the “Anne Fest” day of July 29, I was surprised to be presented with a Jim Gallucci sculpture of the Rotary Wheel with the Greensboro city scape rising from it; a beautiful matching ring and necklace set; and a new computer with a bit of technical expertise added in. And to top it all off, a serenade sprang forth from the midst of the audience, with David Holley and Daniel Crupi singing the most beautiful rendition of a Camelot song, an “Anne Version” if you will of “If Ever She Would Leave Us,” rendered beautifully. My heart was pounding. But that was not all. Doug Copeland asked for all of the past presidents in the room to line up behind me, and as I looked at them happily, I was told that each had contributed to the retirement gifts, adding that part of the gift would be going to the Nicholas Fragola Art Scholarship at the Community Foundation. What a richly rewarding day that was for me. I am deeply and forever grateful for that special day, but more importantly, for the many rewarding days I spent being associated with my dear friends in the best Rotary Club in the world, Greensboro Rotary. With deep and enduring affection, Anne Our thanks to Walter Faison for these photos. Louis DeJoy (continued from page 1) Board of Trustees for Moses Cone Health System in North Carolina. He lives in Greensboro with his wife Dr. Aldona Wos and their children, Ania and Andrew DeJoy. Dr. Wos recently served as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. From 2004-2006 she served as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia. PROJECT REBUILD! WE NEED YOU! Especially on Saturdays! A Greensboro Rotary Service Opportunity. Bob Sawyer High School Football Player of the Week – Week Three The Rotary Club of Greensboro has selected the third winner of the 2015 Bob Sawyer Guilford County Football Player of the Week. This week’s winner is Zachary Pressley of Dudley High School. Zachary, who plays defensive lineman and defensive end, was nominated for his outstanding game against Ragsdale on August 28 which Dudley won, 48 -7. In that game, he had eight tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble and recovery which as returned 30 yards for a touchdown. Zachary is also involved as a leader outside of the football field. Zachary’s coach, Stephen Davis, wrote, “Zachary volunteers with his youth group at church and at his community library. He is not an outspoken person but leads by example. He will do anything you tell him without hesitation.” Bob Sawyer High School Football Player of the Week – Week Four Zachary Tyler of Northwest High School is the fourth winner of the The Rotary Club of Greensboro’s 2015 Bob Sawyer Guilford County Football Player of the Week. Inside Linebacker Zachary Tyler played an impressive game against Southeast Guilford on Friday, September 11th with 14 tackles and two sacks, helping secure a win against one of the strongest offenses in the county. In the words of Coach Jared Rolfe, “Zach is an outstanding young man of character, leadership, and on the field play. Zach is a junior and was chosen without question to be a captain of the Northwest Football Team for 2015. He is motivated, hard-working, and an example for our younger players. His academic pursuits are no different, as he is respected by his teachers, administrators, and coaches for his efforts in the classroom. He takes several high level courses and balances his schoolwork with his athletic schedules. I remember at the end of a loss this year, Zach stood in front of the team and encouraged the entire group to keep their heads up because one game does not define us. He is deserving of this award.” Call for Nominations for Board of Directors Know someone who would be a great board member or a future club president?
