Year 4s Learn About Spanish Culture
We had an amazing time on
our Spanish Day. We enjoyed
finding out about how
castanets are made and
making our own; learning
some Spanish language;
tasting Spanish foods and
learning how to Flamenco
dance. Some of us even got
to use our newly made
castanets while we were
dancing. Viva Espana!
‘My favourite part of Spanish
day was . . . the Flamenco
dancing because we made
up our own routines and
showed them to the class.’
‘My favourite part of Spanish
day was . . . making
castanets because I enjoyed
drawing and colouring my
design.’
EVA ELLIS 4DS
‘My favourite part of Spanish
day was . . tasting the
delicious food because it
was really scrumptious!’

Nature Walk
Here are some quotes from
4AW about our nature walk
in RE where we were
learning about creation and
'wow factors' of creation:
'We went outside for a nature
walk and found things like
apples,sticks, leaves and
other types of nature things
to show how nice they are
and how lucky we are to live
in such a beautiful place
thanks to God.'
Jennipher Hewitt 4AW
'My favourite thing that I
picked up was the flower
because it made me think
about how God created the
beautiful petals and why he
chose them to be certain
colours.'
WILLIAM BLACKMORE 4AW
‘My favourite part of Spanish
Day was . . . learning
Spanish words because
I think learning different
languages is interesting.’

Science Show Exploring Winter’s Child
We recently had an
interactive touring theatre
group called The World
Inside Me come in and perform a show. They performed
short sketches about a boy
called Zack before he took
a test. We travelled into his
brain, discovering the way in
which we receive information
and how it is stored.
Their website is
www.worldinsideme.co.uk
and on there are short films
about how the brain works.
In English we have been
exploring the book 'Winter's
Child', a story all about a
child who loves the winter
Emergency Contact Details
and has the ability to prolong
the winter . . . but this puts
Grandad in trouble as they
run out of wood for their fire!
Through exploring the story,
we carried out role play
activities to help us learn the
blueprint of the story, before
creating our own stories
which had a 'weather theme'
to them. Ask your child what
their story was called and
what happened in their own
personal version of the story!
'We went on a nature walk
and collected lots of lovely
things. I saw an apple tree
and that made me think
'wow, how did God create
all of the wonderful things
in the world.'
