The two drifting categories have combined their strengths in each country to produce the first ever Trans-Tasman Championship Title, where eight of Australia‟s best drivers will do battle against eight of the best New Zealanders across four rounds of inter-category seeded competition. The driving force behind the Trans-Tasman Championship is to offer a high-profile competitive stepping stone for international drifting in the South Pacific – an opportunity for the top drivers and champions of Australian & New Zealand Drifting to further their motorsport careers, while competing for a new internationally recognized title. Locally, Red Bull run a bi-annual international alternative-drifting event in the heart of Auckland City. Red Bull Drift Shifters, as it is known, is a pin-ball inspired drift course where drivers aim to collect points via automated electronic scoring systems. Fanga Dan and FDC Motorsport placed 3rd in the inaugural event, the highest placed Kiwi in a field of 12 internationally renowned drivers. In 2014 FDC Motorsport finished 3rd again in the second ever Drift Shifters event, this time held in Auckland City‟s Quay Street with a field of 16 international drivers. Fanga Dan has become the most consistent Drift Shifters competitor and has his sights now set firmly on representing New Zealand once again in 2016. Tow Vehicle & Race-Trailer opportunities available D1NZ Legend & Fan Favorite Name: Daniel Woolhouse Nickname: Fanga Dan DOB: 31 March 1983 Country: New Zealand Hometown: Whangarei Daniel grew up in Hastings around his father‟s car yard which sparked an automotive lifestyle at an early age. Spending time on the yard washing and prepping cars for sale, Dan was surrounded by iconic Japanese vehicles synonymous with early drift culture - Nissan Skylines, Cefiros, Toyota Supras and Mazda RX7s to name a few. At 10 years of age Dan would move north to Whangarei, and with a passion for rear wheel drive cars his teenage years saw plenty of vehicles in his ownership, repairing and selling a range of JDM vehicles for income. By the early 2000's drifting was rising from the underground into a professional motorsport and after following the culture and competitions in Japan, Dan and 7 others would go on to form New Zealand's first drift team; Driftcorp. Daniel began drifting competitively in 2003, entering his first full season in 2005 driving an RB26 powered Nissan Laurel C33 in the D1NZ National Drifting Championship, finishing 3rd overall in his rookie year. With a wild and aggressive lock-to-lock driving style Dan would earn the nickname "Fanga". In 2006 he moved to a purpose built Nissan S15 Silvia, which went on to win the D1NZ Championship that year in just his second competitive season. In 2008 Woolhouse built and drove one of the first Holden VZ Commodores in competitive drifting, powered again by a 2.6 liter Nissan RB engine. In 2010 „Fanga Dan‟ made his international debut competing in Malaysia, Thailand & Singapore as part of the Goodyear International Drift Series, taking a round win in the process. After retiring his championship winning Nissan S15 in 2010, Woolhouse went on to compete a rebuilt LS2 V8 powered Holden VZ Commodore in the 2013 D1NZ Championship Series for his naming rights sponsor Castrol Edge, in which he became the 2013 New Zealand Drift Champion. Respected brand loyalty. With drifting growing ever further to the pinnacle of New Zealand motorsport, there is no other name more synonymous with the Holden brand that engages the youth and dedicated Holden fans around the country. Fanga Dan & the FDC Motorsport brand represent real hard-working motoring enthusiasts with a passion for Holdens. Daniel has personally owned and modified countless examples of Holden vehicles, from VY‟s & VZ‟s to the classic VK Commodore. Daniel‟s passion for the Holden brand has followed through from his childhood dreams to his multiple championship-winning drift career. While FDC Motorsport have campaigned a number of drift-chassis in the D1NZ National Drifting Championship it was Daniel‟s love for Holden Commodores that saw him build and drive the first competitive VZ Commodore in international drifting. After big success competing in Asia, Daniel and the FDC team continued development in-house to rebuild the iconic VZ Commodore with an LS2 V8, pushing 500+ horsepower. While already the 2006 champion, Daniel still had his heart set on winning the prestigious D1NZ title behind the wheel of a V8-Supercar inspired drift-car. Teaming up with Checkered Flag Automotive the FDC team pursued a grueling and testing D1NZ campaign during the 2012/13 series – eventually winning the 2013 New Zealand Drifting Championship with 4/6 podiums and 3 round wins. Daniel became the first driver to win the title in two different vehicles, while also becoming the first ever V8 driver to win the series. The FDC Holden remains the only vehicle brand other than Nissan to have won the D1NZ title. Since then, FDC has progressed further to develop the unique internationalspec 800hp LS2 V8 powered Century Batteries VE Holden Commodore, which is now the flagship chassis and most competitive car of the FDC team. Fanga Dan & the Century Batteries Commodore is currently competing in the 2015/16 Demon Energy D1NZ National Drifting Championship Series.
