Yoga & Spirit: Journey into the Sacred
A Yoga Retreat of Self Discovery in Sayulita, Mexico
February 20 - February 28, 2016
Beat the winter blues with 7 nights of pure bliss, fun and adventure as you relax and rejuvenate with this
Yoga immersion in a gorgeous beach setting on the Riviera Nayarit. This year’s focus is Journey into the
Sacred where we will explore the tapestry and tradition of Yoga through the insightful and transformational
practices of asana, breath work, meditation and more.
We will stay at the beautiful Hotelito Los Sueños in Sayulita. Every morning we will begin with pranayama
followed by a strong solar flow focusing on energizing pranayama (breath work), flowing standing
sequences, and core strengthening. Afternoons can be spent as you choose: relaxing at the beach or pool,
surfing, snorkelling, sea kayaking, whale watching, exploring the surrounding jungle, enjoying a fabulous
massage or taking a siesta. Late afternoon classes will be based on a lunar Yin inspired flow focusing on hipopening, forward bending, restorative postures, and guided meditation.
Sayulita is a vibrant small Mexican town, with shopping, dancing, surfing, amazing food and warm,
generous people. One of Carla’s most popular retreats and guaranteed to be an experience of a lifetime! All
levels welcome.

Travel Details
Arrivals
Medical
You should plan to arrive in Puerto Vallarta Mexico
by early evening on February 20th. I will have two
shuttles leaving at designated times from the PVR
Airport to Hotelito Los Sueños in Sayulita. If you are
unable to make one of these shuttles, you can take a
taxi to Sayulita for about 800 pesos. I will provide
you with the information you need if this is the
case.
You may wish to purchase emergency travel
medical insurance before your trip. There are many
companies, including BCAA that provide good rates
for tourists. Please read the policy carefully, certain
activities like paragliding may not be covered.
Medical services in Mexico are very good and also
very reasonable should you need/prefer to pay in
country.
Departures
Food & Water
For departures, please plan to leave Puerto Vallarta
no earlier than mid-day on Saturday if possible,
February 28th. Again I will have shuttles leaving at
designated times - but if your flight is outside of
these departure times, you may wish to take a taxi. I
will help you coordinate this.
A daily brunch and 2 dinners are included in your
retreat package. All foods will be fresh and healthy
and we do our best to accommodate dietary
restrictions. Please ensure you advise me of any
dietary restrictions or needs when you register. On
most nights we will be sampling the fare at local
restaurants that have excellent cleanliness and
food preparation standards. Only bottled water
should consumed and will be provided at Los
Sueños. Ice served in drinks is made from bottled
water.
Money
The national currency in Mexico is the Peso. You can
order Mexican Pesos at any Canadian financial
institution in advance of your trip. There are also
ATM machines in Puerto Vallarta the airport and in
Sayulita. Make sure you have an international PIN
(4 digits) on your bank card. If you prefer to bring
money with you, I usually recommend about $300$400 CDN in Pesos, and perhaps more if you think
you will be purchasing many souvenirs. US Dollars
are also widely accepted, although I always prefer to
pay in Pesos.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is available in certain parts of Hotelito Los
Sueños. It might not be as good as your Wi-Fi at
home but it is available. It is better not to bring
lots of technical equipment to track during your
week. Think of it as a wonderful opportunity to
“disconnect” from your usual life and enter
another vibration.
Passport/Visa
Additions
A passport is required to enter Mexico. Please
ensure it is valid for at least 6 months before your
departure date. A visa is not required for visitors
from most countries (please refer to this list: http://
www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/Paises_No_Visa)
and you will be given a tourist card upon your entry
by a Mexican Custom’s Official. Do not lose this
card! You require your tourist card to leave the
country.
Wednesday is a free day, giving you time to take
an additional excursion in the area if you wish.
There are opportunities to surf, SUP, whale watch
or just hang out in Sayulita to shop and relax. The
cost of these activities is in addition to your retreat
fee. Please plan for a gratuity for the Los Sueños
staff as well Daniel Murillo who will be leading a
cooking class for us one evening.

superb job in mastering the logistics! Her
attention to detail was fantastic and I felt

Meet Carla
I started practicing yoga in 1996, the original motivation — to
touch my toes! I had no idea the journey I was beginning to
undertake would be so profound and transformational. Seventeen
years later, I can touch my toes, and along the way I discovered
that my talent and my passion has become helping others nourish
their unique journey toward self-discovery.
While most of my retreats and offerings are open to all, I am
particularly passionate about helping women explore the divine
feminine and embrace their indwelling power, the Shakti nature
within. This work entails going deep, uncovering blocks, becoming
embodied, balanced and strong on all levels, ultimately, becoming comfortable with feminine creativity,
sexuality and personal power. As I continue the personal practice of embracing Shakti, I experience my
evolution forward into myself. An increasingly empowering and liberating experience, I can’t help but feel
compelled to help others (primarily women) experience this for themselves.
Philosophy and Style
Yoga is the union of the body, mind, emotions and intellect. Yoga is an ancient and timeless art,
science, and philosophy that emphasizes awareness, integrity, and compassion. The practice of yoga
helps anyone to gain good health, mental peace, emotional equanimity and intellectual clarity
I love Flow practices for the movement and freedom, Hatha classes for the precision and experience
of deepening and YIN for the stillness and expansion. My love of music, movement, dance, breath,
food, culture and holistic lifestyle influence and are expressed through my offerings.
Much of my work explores opening and connecting to the mayakoshas (sheaths) or layers of being
as a means to merge with the Essential Self. Each sheath is an integral part of who we are: the
physical, energetic/emotional, mental, and intuitive and bliss body. As we search for equilibrium
both within and in between these layers, we begin to truly understand ourselves and the outside
world around us.
