More about American plum:
A beautiful shrub with spectacular blooms and a pleasing
smell, American plum grows to 25 feet and produces edible
fruit. It can grow either as a thicket forming shrub or as a
small tree. Many birds and animals eat the fruit, and both
white-tailed deer and mule deer feed on twigs and leaves.

Initially smooth
and gray, the
bark later turns

American plum makes a great alternative to
amur maple (Acer ginnala), an invasive plant
still occasionally planted in landscapes.
