Each week we will feature a different big truck to tour and an activity to go along with the truck! Resident: $35, Non-Resident: $70 Skate with the Pros Wednesdays 1:00 – 1:45 pm Session I: Jan.6 - Feb. 3 Session II: Feb.10 - March9 Ages 3 – 12 McMorran Main Arena We are now opening our skates up to 6 – 12 years old. It’s a great opportunity for home schoolers to get out and learn a fun new skill. This program is designed to introduce skating and hockey in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! Your child will learn from some of our local professionals from the Port Huron Prowlers hockey team! Thanks to PHMHA we are able to offer the use of skates and helmets on a first come first serve basis. Fee includes a Prowler’s keepsake. Resident: $30, Non-Resident: $50 Modern Fencing Mondays 7:30 – 8:30 pm Jan. 11, 18, 25, Feb. 8, 15, 22, 29, Mar 7 Ages 12 & up Trinity Lutheran Church In conjunction with Blue Water Fencing Club, classes will be offered to learn weapon handling and main fencing positions; fencing movements; advance, retreat, lunge, straight hits and hits with disengagements; attacks, counter attacks and feints; parries and ripostes. Course taught with the use of the foil, with an explanation of epee and saber. Program will provide masks, gloves and practice foils. Students must provide athletic shoes, loose fitting long pants (i.e. warmup or track pants) and a heavy sweatshirt. Sign up for one or all three to perfect your skills. Instructed Port Huron Northern coaches and varsity players. Hitting – Feb. 4 Instruction in hitting fundamentals, drills and the philosophy of Port Huron Northern Softball. Fielding – Feb. 11 Instruction in the fundamentals of fielding and throwing as well as position specific drills. Pitching and Catching – Feb. 18 Instruction in proper pitching techniques such as the wrist snap, leg drive and finish and catchers will learn the fundamentals of the stance, framing the ball and blocking. We will work on reading skills using live horses in a fun and non-threatening environment. The introductory session will focus on mini sessions in decoding, phonics and vocabulary. Led by two certified teachers and does not involve riding horses. Join us for Snowman Saturday as part of Port Huron Winter Classic event at Memorial Stadium at 24th Street to build your own snowman. Each snowman built will be entered in a drawing to win a prize. Every participant will be put on teams and get "war" face paint if desired. There will be obstacles, bunkers and barricades to shield your opponents and teams will be able to build their own forts. Gaining Youth Perspective for Michigan’s Tourism Industry Thursday, February 4 5:00 – 7:30 pm Ages 13 – 18 Palmer Park Participants should attend if they have an interest in global/local travel, natural resources, business ideas, innovation, and/or tourism. Participants will be given an opportunity to share ideas of how to make Michigan and St. Clair County an even more exciting place than it already is. Ideas shared will be in a team format and opportunity to build a business. Participants will then be walked through the stages of launching their business idea as it relates to Michigan tourism. Participants will also learn of the ways tourism can impact your education and career path. Pizza will be included. Preregistration required.
