The first series of pocket watches
earns the title of “The watch of railroad accuracy”. During that period accidents are all too common due to the
fact that various railroads work with
over 50 different “times” - so Hamilton
sets out to deliver accurate watches to
the railroad community.
Hamilton gains the prestigious rank of
supplier to the US Armed Forces.
The introduction of the Piping Rock
and Yankee watch confirms the Hamilton leadership in American style.
During World War II, Hamilton stops
production of watches for consumers to concentrate on the huge task of
providing the forces.
The company’s efforts are rewarded in
1943 with a US Army-Navy “E” Award,
presented for its excellence in production of military equipment.

COMMUNICATION FOCUS
Aviation
Hamilton has been airborne since 1919. From timekeeping those pioneer pilots, to copiloting world aerobatic champions in gravity
defiance, Hamilton is the trusted partner of those who share the belief that the sky is the only limit.
The Khaki watches are the direct descendants of this eventful part of Hamilton history.
communication COMMUNICATION FOCUS
CINEMA
The list of credits for Hamilton movie appearances takes an age to roll. Since the 1950s Hamilton timepieces have featured in over
400 movies. On-screen success has co-starred with intensive involvement behind the scenes.
The American Classic collection is inspired from the brand’s strong relationship to cinema.
13
Aviation
The SKy is the only limit
Hamilton has a long aviation heritage dating back to 1919 when the pioneering
pilots of the era put their trust in the precision of its watches and navigation
instruments. In addition to keeping the first American airmail service on track,
Hamilton became the official watch of more commercial airlines. Adventure
joined accuracy as the brand’s instruments demonstrated their unrivalled expertise co-piloting challenging expeditions to the South Pole.
This spirit certainly lives on. Today the Hamilton collection includes a line of pilot watches integrating specific aviation functions like the Khaki Flight Timer,
created together with the prestigious rescue and transport company Air Zermatt or the Khaki X-Patrol. The brand is also timekeeper to a variety of international aviation events like EAA Air Venture Oshkosh (USA), regarded as the
world’s greatest aviation celebration, as well as the Free Flight Masters in France
and Tannkosh in Germany.
Since 2005, Hamilton is joining leading French aerobatic pilot, Nicolas Ivanoff, in
the cockpit–at least in a partnership sense. The brand’s ambassador is taking part
to the European and World Aerobatics championships in a Hamilton-branded
Edge 540. The creativity involved in taking skill and technology to their limits
is highly appreciated . Various squadrons in South Africa, Canada, Spain, South
Korea and Russia and more Swiss aerobatic pilots put their trust in a Hamilton
watch.
And if they are happy to put their trust in a Hamilton watch at forces up to 12 g,
the sky really is the only limit…

Partnerships with various squadrons in Spain, South Korea, South Africa, Canada and in Russia also contribute to securing Hamilton’s status as the favorite

Inspirational elements for modern watch design
For over six decades Hamilton’s distinctive watches have caught the attention
of the world’s leading screen stylists. Their eye-catching shapes, materials and
unique designs earn them roles in over 400 movies, ranging from action pictures such as DIE HARD, OCEAN’S ELEVEN, PREDATORS, ABDUCTION, science fiction movies like MEN IN BLACK, INDEPENDENCE DAY, 2001:THE SPACE ODYSSEY,
to comedy classics like KILLERS, YOU’VE GOT MAIL, BLUE HAWAII and dramas
such as A BEAUTIFUL MIND, or THE GOOD GERMAN.
The brand is constantly working with film directors, prop masters and costume
designers to design models that are the perfect fit for the actors and the script.
Hamilton takes inspiration from cinema to create timepieces with out-of-thisworld design and functionality. It also develops watches with specific functions
according to the needs of a movie.
International Career
As the movie brand, Hamilton extended its cinematographic career to roles not
only in major American productions but also in European, Russian and Chinese
movies. In addition to appearances in French movies like in HELLO GOOD BYE
or in LES HERBES FOLLES, the distinctive Hamilton models were also featured in
the Chinese version of WHAT WOMEN WANT and Russian movie PATIENT LOVE.
The tradition is set to continue with many new appearances currently in production.

Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards
Since Hamilton has been collaborating closely with filmmakers, it has come to understand that from the props to the set design and from
costumes to the screenwriting, all of the hard work done off-screen plays a critical role in creating successful movies. In grateful appreciation of the immense work done behind the scenes, the brand created the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards to acknowledge these key
talents. The ceremony takes place every year in Los Angeles and newly in China.
