the main stage. Seth S.and Gabby H. were selected as
Broadway Jr. Slam performers and also performed a

School Board Appreciation Week
January 24 through 30 is School Board
Appreciation Week. Murfreesboro City
Schools benefits tremendously from the
hard work and dedication of our school
board members who work to better our
school system and community. As
advocates for students, these elected
officials devote their time, resources and
expertise to strengthen our educational
system. They make decisions affecting
policy, budgeting and district goals.
Bradley, Roy Waldron and University School of Nashville
were selected to work together to open the festival with
a showcase of Peter Pan JR. They performed under the
collective name of TNT, Tennessee Thespians and
practiced one Saturday a month beginning in August to
prepare for the show.
The festival is the world's largest youth musical theater
festival and features 115 groups representing 28 states,
the District of Columbia, South Korea and Australia.
Bradley is one of eight elementary schools participating in
the festival which has over 5000 participants.
"The Lion King" can be seen April 7-8, 14-15 and 22 at
The Center for the Arts in Murfreesboro. Tickets are $7.
Please join us by saying thank you to our
school board members during Tennessee's
School Board Appreciation Week.

National School Counseling Week
Thank You MTSU
MCS would like to thank MTSU for their continued partnership
with our district. Our students were recently treated to in-house
tennis lessons by the men's and women's MTSU Tennis teams
and coach Jimmy Borendame. Students from K-6 were treated
to lessons during PE classes last week.
Dr. Stephen Smith and the MTSU student performers brought
Little Red Riding Hood, the opera, to life for MCS students.
The opera performance, designed for K- 4th grades, was held
in school gymnasiums as well as performed at the Wright Music
Hall. The opera plot follows the children's story by the same
name, Little Red Riding Hood.
MCS also received a large donation of winter coats for all sizes
from the MTSU athlectic department. Coats that were collected
in bins at MTSU athletic games were delivered to central office.
If there is a student in need of a coat, teachers should contact
the Outreach Department. We are so thankful for donations that
provide warmth and relief to students during the frigid winter
months.

National School Counseling Week 2016,
"School Counseling: The Recipe for Success,"
will be celebrated from Feb. 1-5. The week
aims to bring public attention to the unique
contribution of professional school counselors.
Counselors work with teachers, parents, social
workers, and many others to address the
academic, personal and social development
needs of all students. They refer students and
families to community agencies that can help
them meet their food, housing, and legal needs,
as well as address other challenges they may
be facing. Counselors help remove barriers to
learning and help students succeed. Remember
to thank a school counselor during National
School Counseling Week.
