I thought it was a perfect performance against Clitheroe if Im honest, from start to finish we looked sharp and we have always got quality in the team but the workrate off the ball from the lads who are quality on the ball on the day was tremendous. Take nothing away from Clitheroe when they got the ball they looked a tidy outfit but we really made them work for it on Saturday and it could have been more so Im delighted with the performance. There were five different scorers in the game and I’m pleased for Liam Henderson who has worked his socks off again and I keep saying if you work hard you will get your reward and he did just that. I’m pleased for everyone; James Risbrough did well down the left hand side, Nathan Fisher and Shane Henry also. From one to fourteen everyone worked hard and it was a perfect result for us really. Danny Frost got some time on the pitch and there is real competition for places, Jordan Robinson came on as Chris Mason was struggling with a groin strain but you have got to earn your shirt and play well to keep that shirt here and sometimes it’s unfortunate if there are injuries then it leaves a space for someone to come in and make a difference and those who got a game on Saturday made a real difference it’s been an excellent week for us overall. As for tonight’s game – well you have to win your home games; it’s as simple as that. It helps when you keep the backdoor closed and Joe Tait has started the season fantastically well as has Chris Mason and Dan Lowson and we have looked really strong. So as I say as long as we are strong at the back and keep clean sheets we will be scoring goals at the other end as we have goals in our side from all over the park as we showed on Saturday. Spennymoor Castles U12’s - Hemlington Tournament winners On Saturday Spennymoor Town Castles kept up their excellent record in tournaments this season. After winning at Coxhoe and finishing runners up in both the Hummersknott and Trimdon tournaments, it was more silverware for the boys this time lifting the winners trophy at Hemlington. The boys kicked off the day with a 2-0 victory over New Marske from the TJFA second division thanks to goals from Harry Dinsdale and a superb second from Ethan Gray. We faced the hosts Hemlington Juniors in the second game and ran out 4-0 winners with the goals coming from Robson Clarey, Kane Hopwood and two from Tom Todd. In the third game the Castles faced Spennymoor Knights and ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Kai Dobson and a free kick from Robson Clarey. The next game was a tighter game with Marton Blues winners of the TJFA 4th division last season, ending 0-0. In the final group game the Castles faced WhinneyBanks in what looked a very difficult game. After Banks had beat Spennymoor Knights 4-1 earlier in the group we expected a tough game. Banks from the TJFA first division looked strong, but were beaten 3-0 with Harry Dinsdale, Kane Hopwood and Robson Clarey all scoring. In the semi final we faced New Marske winning 5-0 thanks to goals from Tom Todd, Eathan Gray, Robson Clarey and two from Kai Dobson. The final was between the two Spennymoor teams and was much tighter than the group game. The Castles winning the game thanks to a goal from Ethan Gray. A great end to the summer tournaments for the boys, after playing some great football today and not conceding a single goal all day thanks to our two keepers Leo Strange and Flynn Dawson and great defending from Lucas Easter, Harrison Collingwood, Harvey Pickering and Joseph Birchall. Great advert for Spennymoor Town Youth seeing both U12s team fighting it out in the final of a tournament, and it was good to see both sets of kids and parents cheering as Castles captain Charlie Jackson lifted the cup. Sunderland West End FC 3 – 2 Spennymoor Town FC Reserves had denied a clear goal scoring opportunity. Saturday 29th August 2015 At the death Spennymoor suffered the ignominy of having a penalty awarded against them after a Sunderland player kicked a ball from a yard away which hit a Spennymoor players hand low down. It was always a case of ball to hand and not hand to ball. The kick was duly converted and West End took three points when a draw looked on the cards and would have been a very good result. A game dominated by Sunderland West End in the first period which saw Spennymoor go in 2-1 down at the break and Gavin Brown sent off for his second bookable offence ( dissent) West End took the lead on 12 minutes from a corner which was poorly defended at the near post and a flicked effort went in. Connor Dunlavey then equalised for Spennymoor with a rasping shot that was always going to be difficult for any keeper to stop. West End regained the lead following a defensive error. Gav Brown then let the red mist descend following a foul he committed and walked for dissent just before the break. Frustration was a probable cause as Moors had a strong penalty appeal waved away following a solid push in the back on Ross Morrow when into the box. West End got away with it and they knew they had! Spennymoor reorganised after the break and dominated the majority of the second half, and like the first half had a good penalty appeal turned away and a one awarded which Morrow converted from the spot to equlaise. It was difficult to understand why the offending West End player did not receive his marching orders because he Seaham Red Star Reserves FC 1 – 1 Spennymoor Town FC Reserves Wednesday 26th August 2015 Spennymoor Town reserves left it late to take a point against Seaham Red Star Reserves, with Ross Morrow converting a penalty in the first minute of stoppage time at the end of the game. For seventy of the ninety minutes Spennymoor were on the back foot and the usual fluency with which they play the game was just not there. Seaham pressed the ball and made it very difficult for Spennymoor and created a number of good chances without finding the back of the net. When Seaham did find a way through David Atkinson in the Spennymoor goal kept them at bay with some good saves, but Seaham were also guilty of some poor finishing. Spennymoor rarely made any progress but Ryan Cummings did have a goal ruled out for off side, which looked to be a very tight decision. David Gibson was instrumental in working a great position for himself and found himself one on one with Adamson in the Seaham goal but blasted the ball high over the bar from 12 yards. At the break Seaham who had been much the stronger side could count themselves unfortunate not to be going in ahead. HT 0-0 Seaham started the second period at the same tempo they adopted in the first half pressing high up the field and turning the Spennymoor defence whenever they could. A free kick to Seaham from midway inside the Spennymoor half was headed back into play by Beasley, when with better communication it should have been allowed to go out of play. From the passage of play following Seaham won a corner and it was from that they took the lead after Atkinson seemed to uncharacteristically flap at the ball which ended up in the net to give Seaham the advantage. Chris Foster who took a knock at the end of the first period was unable to shrug it off and was replaced by Reece Brown and it was with his introduction that Spennymoor started to get at the opposition down the left flank and some quality crosses started to be played into the box. Connor Dunlavey then replaced an injured Robert Thompson and his direct and tricky style of play down the right gave more balance with crosses now coming in from both flanks. With Spennymoor increasing the tempo Seaham started to run out of steam with a succession of players going down with injuries and the physio being a regular visitor to the field. Still Spennymoor couldn’t find a way through and Adamson, Seahams keeper became increasingly busy and made some fine saves to keep Spennymoor at bay. With clock running down and stoppage time looming Ross Morrow was played in and as he set himself to shoot he was fouled in the box and the referee awarded a penalty with the offending player Naylor booked. Morrow took the penalty himself and converted it to bring the scores level. With stoppage time still to play Spennymoor continued their assault on the Seaham goal with a succession of corners which were defended and in the end Spennymoor gained a point that looked unlikely. www.spennymoortownfc.co.uk Wearside football league... We have brought in some quality this year with the likes of Lee Moore who you will have seen in pre-season for the first team, he is only 18 years old but has shown in his performances this season already that he is one for the future and I think already he could walk into most Northern league division 1 sides. Ryan Cummings is another local lad 19 years old who has joined us from Blyth Spartans and wants to make an impression as he looks to try and break into Jason’s plans. With these 2 new additions I believe we have a stronger squad than last year and hope to try and improve the players which have stopped with us from last season. It’s going to be a big season the likes of Kai Willis, Mitchell Mckenna, Chris Foster and Reece Greenwood who are still only 17/18 years old as they look to push on after an impressive end to last season. We are currently sitting 10th in the Wearside league after the opening months league fixtures which has seen us pick up 12 points, 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats. What we have found this year is a lot of teams have improved and there are no easy games in this league and sides always seem to raise their game when playing against Spennymoor as we are a scalp for them. We have been a bit inconsistent in our start to the campaign and seem to struggle to put in a 90 minute performance without letting teams into the game by making poor decisions in bad areas and have been punished when doing so. I suppose you will always get that with young lads learning there trade and I would much rather them make the mistake for the reserves and learn from it. Ross Morrow has been a stand out performer in the past few weeks scoring 6 goals in 5 games as he looks to improve on the 30 goals he scored for us last season. With the new players settling in well we will look to have a more consistent September and hopefully climb the table into the top six were we will be looking to be at come the end of the season. Carl Beasley Clitheroe Match report... Unbeaten Spennymoor Town recorded their biggest win of the season after scoring five without reply against high flying Clitheroe at The Brewery Field. Moors named the same team that beat Harrogate Railway on Tuesday night in the F.A.Cup, and they once again got out of the traps on the front foot as in the 2nd minute Nathan Fisher ran onto Anthony Peacock’s clever flick but he took too many touches allowing defender James Walker to get a block on his shot, before Liam Henderson went close with a drive from 18yds after he wriggled way from Walker but his shot curled past the far post. Moors did get the deserved breakthrough in the 14th minute when Peacock brought the ball down inside the Clitheroe area to smash a superb volley past keeper Callum Jakovlevs. Clitheroe replied by forcing a series of corners and Moors defender Joe Tait had to head clear a dangerous cross from David Lynch. Moors however doubled their lead in the 19th minute when James Risbrough whipped over an excellent cross from the left which was met a the back post by Henderson on the volley but Jakovlevs blocked and the Moors number nine reacted quickest to score from the follow up. The home side were in control and continued to dictate, frustrating Clitheroe to long range efforts and defending very well when needed. Tait held the defence together allowing Moors to keep probing and they went close again as a determined run down the right by Henderson saw him cross for Shane Henry who headed over from a central position. Moors got the all-important third goal within two minutes of the second half starting as Henderson got into the right hand side of the box to rifle a shot which Jakovlevs blocked into the path of Risbrough who took a touch and drove a left footed shot into the roof of the net for his first Spennymoor goal. Spennymoor had the wind in their sails and looked like they would score everytime they went forward. Henry went close with another header from Andrew Stephenson’s free kick, then in Spennymoor Town 5 – 0 Clitheroe the 54th minute Moors stretched their lead as Henderson released strike partner Fisher with a ball over the top and he ran into the area to squeeze a shot past Jakovlevs at his near post. Both sides made changes moments later and Clitheroe sub Michael Hampson went close with a header from David Lynch’s cross, meanwhile Moors brought on Danny Frost who has not featured since the opening day of the season. Moors sealed the win in the 77th minute as Henry scored his second goal in a week as he made no mistake this time meeting Stephenson’s corner to head into the corner of the net. It capped off a fluent and impressive home performance in front of a 487 Brewery Field crowd against a side who had won four out of their first five games this season. Manager Jason Ainsley said after the game “It was the perfect performance from start to finish; everyone looked sharp, and not only were the players very good on the ball, they also worked hard off it. We looked a real, real threat every time we moved forward, and we made Clitheroe work hard to contain us. “Defensively we never gave anything. That is the key to winning matches, if we keep the back door shut, then I’m confident that we’ll score goals at the other end.” “It’s been an excellent week for us, but we need it to continue this week against Ossett Albion and Blyth.” Line-Up... 1 Dan Lowson 2 Kallum Griffiths 3 Chris Mason (c) (Sub Jordan Robinson) 4 Scott Kerr 5 Joe Tait 6 James Risbrough 7 Andrew Stephenson (Sub Priestley Keithley) 8 Shane Henry 9 Liam Henderson 10 Nathan Fisher (Sub Danny Frost) 11 Anthony Peacock Subs Not Used: Lewis Dodds, Paul Johnson Attendance: 487 Referee: Mr D Markham www.spennymoortownfc.co.uk Northern Premier League Date 15-Aug 18-Aug 22-Aug 25-Aug 29-Aug 01 Sept 05-Sep 08-Sep 12-Sep 19-Sep 22-Sep 26-Sep 29-Sep 03-Oct 10-Oct 13-Oct 17-Oct 20-Oct 24-Oct 31-Oct 07-Nov 10-Nov 14-Nov 21-Nov 28-Nov 05-Dec 12-Dec 19-Dec 26-Dec 28-Dec 02-Jan 09-Jan 16-Jan 23-Jan 30-Jan 06-Feb 13-Feb 20-Feb 27-Feb 05-Mar 12-Mar 26-Mar 28-Mar 02-Apr 09-Apr 16-Apr 23-Apr TBA Opponents H/A Glossop North End A HARROGATE RA H RADCLIFFE BORO H Ossett Town A Harrogate RA A HARROGATE RA H CLITHEROE H OSSETT ALBION H BLYTH SPARTANS H Trafford A Lancaster City A BURSCOUGH H Kendal Town A Glossop North End A DROYLSDEN H BRIGHOUSE TOWN H Witton Albion A OSSETT TOWN H Radcliffe Boro A TBC TBC GLOSSOP NORTH END H BRIGHOUSE TOWN H Harrogate RA A Bamber Bridge A NEW MILLS H Warrington Town A NORTHWICH VICTORIA H LANCASTER CITY H Scarborough Athletic A FARSLEY CELTIC H Burscough A Prescot Cables A MOSSLEY H Clitheroe A TRAFFORD H Droylsden A KENDAL TOWN H Brighouse Town A WITTON ALBION H Mossley A PRESCOT CABLES H Ossett Albion A SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC H New Mills A BAMBER BRIDGE H Northwich Victoria A WARRINGTON TOWN H Farsley Celtic A Comp NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 FACP FACPR NPL1 NPL1 FAC1Q NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 FATP NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 TBC NPL1 LC NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 NPL1 Result DRAW 1-1 DRAW 1-1 WON 1-0 WON 5-1 DRAW 0-0 WON 2-0 WON 5-0 Att 471 375 391 159 172 388 487 1 Lowson Lowson Lowson Lowson Lowson Lowson Lowson 2 Griffiths Griffiths Griffiths Griffiths Griffiths Griffiths Griffiths 3 Mason Mason Mason Mason Mason Mason Mason 4 Dodds Dodds Dodds Dodds Dodds Kerr Kerr 5 Johnson Tait Tait Tait Tait Tait Tait Division One North 2015/16 6 7 Capper Stephenson Johnson Briggs Capper Stephenson Capper STEPHENSON 1 Risbrough Stephenson Risbrough Stephenson Risbrough 1 Stephenson 8 Henry Henry Henry Henry Henry HENRY 1 HENRY 1 9 TAYLOR 1 Taylor TAYLOR 1 Taylor Henderson Henderson Henderson1 10 Frost Cogdon Fisher FISHER 3 Fisher FISHER 1 FISHER 1 11 Briggs Hoganson Peacock PEACOCK 1 Peacock Peacock Peacock1 SUB 1 Cogdon Fisher Henderson Henderson Cogdon Cogdon Robinson SUB 2 Henderson Risbrough Kerr Robinson Kerr Dodds Frost SUB 3 Risbrough HENDERSON 1 Risbrough Risbrough Keithley Keithley Keithley SUB 4 Fisher Capper Johnson Johnson Johnson Johnson Johnson SUB 5 Robinson Robinson Robinson Cogdon Robinson Robinson Dodds C W MOTORS Buying and Selling Quality Used Motor Vehicles C W MOTORS Marmaduke Street Spennymoor • DL16 6DN Tel: 01388 811328 Mobile: 07836 653950 www.marmadukegarage.co.uk our sponsors... At the time Ossett Town were in 2nd place 6 points behind leaders Scarborough but with 3 games in hand whilst Albion were 4th bottom only 3 points above bottom club Hall Road Rangers but their were only 14 clubs in this League at the time. The end of the season saw Town finish 6th with Albion in 7th. The North Counties East League at the time had a Premier League then 2 Divisions One North and South and also 2 Divisions Two North and South. Programme was a 14 pager but no price probably 10p at the time. 2) 1983/84 Ossett Albion v Huddersfield Town (Pre Season Friendly) No date on the cover of the programme but I’m guessing this match was played in August as the Albion’s fixtures in the North Counties East League Division One North did not start until September. This match saw a 18 page programme for 10p. At the end of the season Ossett Albion were 5th whilst their neighbours Town ended the season with the wooden spoon finishing bottom of the League. Huddersfield Town were 12th in Division Two. 3) 1989/90 Ossett Albion v North Shields (Northern Counties East League Premier Division) North Shields left the Northern League at the end of the 1988/89 season to become part of the pyramid system which at the time they were not part of but the Yorkshire based Northern Counties East League were and they were delighted when North Shields took an interest and then played in this League. This match was between 2nd bottom Ossett Albion and 3rd place North Shields with the two Bridlington clubs Town and Trinity in first and second place. At the end of the season Albion Finished 3rd bottom whilst North Shields finished runners up but it was Bridlington Town who won promotion into the Northern Premier League by being Champions. Nice programme no price but 26 pages. 4) 1991/92 Ossett Albion v North Shields (Northern Counties East Premier Division) Another Albion playing North Shields fixture in March 1992 who would have thought at the end of the season that Shields after being runners up the two previous seasons would fold re-group and end up playing in the Wearside League for 92/93 season but that is what happened. Albion on the other hand were quite happy to be mid table and ended the season in 10th spot. Spennymoor United had joined the N.C.E. League for 1990/91 season again to join the pyramid system but it took them a couple of years before they gained promotion. Spennymoor finished the season in 5th spot for 91/92. programme consisted of 40 pages but quite a few adverts. 5) 1994/95 Ossett Albion v Wolviston (8-0) (F.A.Vase 1st Round) Quite and interesting match this as Albion mid table in the North Counties East League played Wearside League side Wolviston from near Billingham in Cleveland. This was in fact only Wolviston’s 3rd and final match in the F.A.Vase as they were walloped 8-0 by Ossett Albion. The interesting fact is that Wolviston in their 3 Vase matches their average goals was in fact 8 in their 3 ties. The previous season they played at home to Seaton Delaval and lost 6-2 before this season beating the now defunct side Darlington Cleveland Social by 5-3 away and then losing this game by 8-0. They have not played in the Vase since. An excellent 24 page programme was issued for the game. Ossett Albion Programmes 1982 -2015 With Thanks again to Harry Watson 6) 1994/95 OSSETT ABION V DISS TOWN (1-1)(AFTER EXTRA TIME) (F.A.VASE 4TH ROUND) Same season and another Vase tie against last season’s winners of the Vase Diss Town from Norfolk who beat Taunton Town in the Final. The other reason I picked this is it was my first and only time I have been to Ossett Albion’s Queen’s Terrace ground. This was a cracking game and it could have went either way as both sides gave an excellent account of themselves. The replay also finished 1-1 before Diss won through by 3-0 in a 2nd replay at Ossett. Diss lost to Arlesey Town from Bedfordshire by 1-0 in the 5th Round away from home. Again an excellent programme consisting of 34 pages for this match. 7) 1999/2000 OSSETT ALBION V ANSTEY NOMADS (F.A.VASE 3RD ROUND) I sent away for a copy of this programme as the Albion faced Leicestershire side Anstey Nomads. In fact at the time Anstey Nomads were 2nd bottom of the Leicestershire premier League whilst Ossett Albion were 7th in the Northern Counties East League. Albion won this game by 5-1 before losing to Eastern Counites League side Woodbridge Town 3-0 away in the Fourth Round. Another interesting thing about Ossett Albion is for many years around this time they had a chairman called Nigel Wigglesworth who I think also did the programme and club shop he was in fact sister of Helen Worth from Coronation Street. Helen was also the President for many years. 8) 2001/02 OSSETT ALBION V WORKINGTON (0-3) (UNIBOND LEAGUE DIVISION ONE) Workington were the visitors to Albion for this special occasion as it was Ossett Albion’s first ever match in the Unibond League. Workington spoiled the party by winning the game by 3-0. At the end of the season Albion finished the season in bottom spot and relegation back into the Northern Counties East Premier League, whilst Workington ended the season in 15th. Programme is a nice 36 pager. 9) 2002/03 OSSETT ALBION V DURHAM CITY (0-4) (F.A.VASE 2ND ROUND) This was another Vase match between 4th top of the Northern Counties East League Albion and Durham City who at the time were also 4th but in the Northern Division One,probably one of the ties of the Round. Durham City had reached the Semi Final of the Vase the previous season losing to the Vase Winners Whitley Bay but in this match they were too good on the day and won by 4-0. Again a nice programme consisting of 34 pages but again no price. Ossett Albion finished the season in 5th spot whilst Durham City beat Gedling Town from Nottingham 7-3 in the 3rd Round of the Vase before losing 4-0 at home to beaten Finalists AFC Sudbury in the Fourth Round. 10)2014/15 SPENNYMOOR TOWN V OSSETT ALBION (5-0) (EVO STIK NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION 1 NORTH) I’d thought I would finish with the programme from last season’s match between Spennymmor Town and Ossett Albion at the Brewery Field at the end of September 2014. Spennymoor were excellent on the day and ran out 5-0 winners in front of 452 spectators. At the time the Moors were in 9th spot whilst Albion were 17th. With Thanks again to Harry Watson from his collection on Ossett Albion programmes. First Division North table... Pd HW HD HL AW AD AL W D L F A Diff Pts Adj 1. In those early days they could hardly have envisaged that 71 years later their Club would still be going strong and competing in the higher echelons of Non League football. A football club having its origins during the Second World War is not unique to Ossett Albion but it is obviously a fairly rare occurrence. Since its formation and humble beginnings the Club has eventually achieved its long term aim and ambition of Northern Premier League football and now finds itself in the fourth tier of Non League clubs in the whole of England. Surely few of those schoolboy founders of the Club, of whom Jack Ingham is the only surviving person, could have predicted back then what would become of their germ of an idea and where the Club would be 71 years on. Progress throughout their history has been steady and measured and at all times sustainability, at whatever level of the game they were competing, has been very much the order of the day. There has never been a “boom and bust” mentality within the organisation and successive Committees and administrations have always followed the tried and tested methods of moving the Club forward while always operating strictly within its means. While progressing steadily through the various leagues on their climb up to their current position within the National League System, Albion Club History... established a strong reputation locally and particularly in cup competitions with plenty of silverware to show for their efforts along the way. Although we have yet to see the name of Ossett Albion in the draw for the 1st Round proper of the FA Challenge Cup the Club have reached the 4th Qualifying Round on several occasions only to fall at the final hurdle. This feat remains one of the Club’s major aspirations. The Club also experienced a good deal of success in the FA Vase competition but fortunes since competing in the FA Trophy have been less impressive. Three West Riding County Cup wins in the mid-sixties and four in all were instrumental in promoting Ossett Albion’s reputation over a wider area of the county. Winning the Yorkshire League Cup twice in successive seasons followed by victories in the Northern Counties East League Cup on two occasions all enhanced Albion’s cup pedigree and made them a real force to be reckoned with. In among they also lifted the Yorkshire League Division 1 championship trophy in 1974/1975 and the Northern Counties East League Premier Division titles in 1998/1999 and again in 2003/2004. Albion realised their ultimate goal of promotion to the Northern Premier League at the end of season 2000/2001 though survival at this level lasted only the one campaign before suffering relegation back to the Northern Counties East League from whence they came. They regained their Northern Premier League status for the 2005/2006 season and 20015/2016 will be their 12th consecutive one in this league. The Club are run by a group of Directors and Committee several of whom have been the backbone of the organisation for many years and they are now led by a newly appointed Chairman in Dominic Riordan. Dominic had a couple of spells as a player in Ossett Albion colours before taking on the role of Chairman and at 29 he is one of, if not the youngest, Chairmen at this level of the game. Having turned out for the first team on numerous occasions last season and, still a registered player, he is quite possibly the only Player/Chairman at this level of the game. After a few years of battling relegation at the wrong end of the league table it is the Chairman’s aim to introduce new ideas and initiatives in order to take Albion to the next level or at the very least establish the team as a competitive outfit capable of finishing in the middle to higher positions in the table. The group of long-serving Committee men are used to seeing players spend much of their careers with Albion most notably Peter Eaton and Nigel Yarrow who played respectively over 800 and 600 games for the Club and are still involved in one capacity or another. As well as progress on ...CONTINUED OVERLEAF Ossett Albion Football the field of play the next immediate phase of Albion’s history will see the Club looking to embark on a series of ambitious projects to further develop the ground and infrastructure. It has long been felt that the facilities are in need of up-dating but limited financial resources have always proved a stumbling block. Initiatives have now been put in place to increase revenues and a number of ground improvements, though still in the planning stages, are becoming realistic possibilities in the not too distant future. Northwich Victoria made is six wins from six games in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League’s First Division North on Saturday, writes Pitchero’s Steve Whitney. The Vics beat Ossett Albion 2-0 at home with a Richard Bennett brace in the 16th and 49th minutes. Glossop North End, Scarborough Athletic, Kendal Town and Spennymoor United all maintained their unbeaten starts to the new season. Glossop had a crowd of 414 for their 1-0 home win over Witton Albion, courtesy of Matty Williams’ goal five minutes from time. Scarborough had to be content with a point from a 1-1 draw at Valerie Park against a previously pointless Prescot Cables side. Ryan Qualter put Boro in front after only four minutes, but they weren’t able to add to that and Rob Doran equalised seven minutes before half-time. Kendal beat Mossley AFC 3-1 at Parkside, with a Ryan Marley own goal setting them on their way after six minutes. Jordan Connerton’s penalty doubled their lead in the 20th minute and his second on 57 minutes secured victory, although David Short managed an 85th minute consolation for the visitors, for whom this was a first defeat. Spennymoor enjoyed a 5-0 home romp over Clitheroe, with Anthony Peacock after 14 minutes and Liam Henderson five minutes later giving them a cushion. James Risbrough two minutes after the break, Nathan Fisher seven minutes later and them Shane Henry 13 minutes from time made it a nap hand for Moors. Harrogate Railway Athletic recorded their first win in 2015-16 in style, inflicting a 4-21 drubbing on Radcliffe Borough at Station View. A still yet to win Boro fell behind to a 15th minute Stephen Bromley effort but pulled back on terms seven minutes after the break through Matt Davies. But three goals in the final 14 minutes from Vince Dhesi, Jack Stockdill and Roy Fogarty won it for Rail. Also yet to win are New Mills, fancied Bamber Bridge and Farsley Celtic. The Millers suffered a 1-0 defeat at Cantilever Park against Warrington Town, whose Ciaran Kilheeney scored the only goal six minutes before the break. Brig and Celtic shared a 1-1 Irongate draw in which Ali Waddecar put the home side ahead just before half-time and Rob O’Brien levelled on 66 minutes. Elsewhere, Nathan Curtis’ 70th minute effort earned Ossett Town victory at Ingfield against Trafford, and Dan Facey did likewise for Brighouse Town after 58 minutes at home to Burscough. Droylsden have still only won once this season after Lancaster City left the Butcher’s Arms with a point from a 1-1 draw in which Aaron Taylor’s 31st minute opener for the Dolly Blues was cancelled out by Steve Hall just before the hour-mark. mhp COATINGS INDUSTRIAL FLOORING SERVICES ‘BLASTRAC’ Concrete & Diamond Grinding Screeds & Coatings Services Dust Free Concrete Cleaning & Preparation Services Slip Resistant, Seamless Coatings to Industry Unit 12, Tudhoe Industrial Estate, Spennymoor, Co.
