Principal Lori McConaughey.
She remembered aloud
entering the building [Quiet
Waters Elementary] 24 years
ago as first an AP (Assistant
Principal) and later Principal.
“When we opened our
doors in 1981 there were
607 students. Last year, we
toppled at 1,467 students,”
she said, before thanking
Mayor Jean Robb for her
foresight and vision, when
she was mayor before in the
1980s, to fight for having an
elementary school out west.
McConaughey said she
knew Commissioner Ganz as
“a professional, a parent, and
a friend. He sat on our PTA
and helped push forward the
Quiet Waters Athletic Park.”
She recognized JM Family for helping to fund Quiet
Waters’ School Resource
Deputy (SRD).
Vice Mayor and District 2
Commissioner Ben Preston
was next on McConaughey’s
gratitude list for his wisdom
and insight on starting a
Debate Club for elementary
school students.

director of Deerfield Beach

former president Jan Muenzenmaier also received kudos from Ms. McConaughey.
