Adventures For Adults (22 and up) January-August 2016 Arc of Westchester’s Recreational Services provide a wide variety of leisure and learning activities designed to help adults learn social skills, experience life in the community and build lifelong friendships. For Adults (22 and up) January-August 2016 Activity To be eligible for these programs, participants must be eligible for OPWDD services (Office for People With Developmental Disabilities) and reside with family living in Westchester County. Dates The Arc Theater Company (Ages 17 and older) Saturdays March 12 to May 21, 2016 Where Hawthorne, NY Session #1: 9:30am - 11:30am Session #2: 12:30pm - 2:30pm Additional Information A theater arts program offering instruction in dance, singing, improvisation, speaking and acting skills. The program will conclude after ten weeks with a special performance for family and friends. *$195 per person Friday - Sunday Overnight Weekend Trips at TOEC Trip #1: Ages 17-25 May 13 to 15, 2016 Overnight Trip #2: Ages 22+ June 10 to 12, 2016 Overnight Echo Onstage (Ages 17 and older) Monday - Friday June 27 to July 1, 2016 9:30am - 3:00pm Taconic Outdoor Education Center Putnam County, NY Two night stay at TOEC. Activities will include Project Adventure, team building games, hiking, aquatic ecology and boating. Westchester Community College A week-long theater workshop for those students that enjoy music, dancing and singing. Manhattanville College A week long vacation on the campus of Manhattanville College. Participants enjoy fitness class, music, crafts, day trips, swimming, basketball, and theater. Monday - Saturday Summer Adventure (3 Sessions) Session #1: Ages 22-28 July 11 to 16, 2016 Overnight Session #2: Ages 22+ July 18 to 23, 2016 Overnight Session #3: Ages 17-28 August 1 to 6, 2016 Overnight Monday to Saturday Outdoor Adventure Session #1: Ages 25+ August 15 to 20, 2016 Overnight Session #2: Ages 17-24 August 22 to 27, 2016 Overnight Taconic Outdoor Education Center Putnam County, NY Overnight experience providing students lessons about our enviroment, nature, and a variety of outdoor education topics. Recreation and waterfront activities are also included in week-long sessions. These programs fill up quickly. We urge you to go online to Arc of Westchester’s website (www.arcwestchester.org) and complete an online registration form. All NEW individuals must be eligible for OPWDD (Office for People With Developmental Disabilities) services and get authorization for respite services through the OPWDD Front Door before being accepted to any of the above programs. Filling out the online form does not guarantee acceptance in the program. You will be contacted by our Recreation Department to initiate your child’s registration. Arc of Westchester is anticipating the possibility of funding changes that may impact our overnight recreation/respite programs at Manhattanville College and the Taconic Outdoor Education Center. This may result in modifications in our programs and scheduling. You will be informed of any changes as soon as we receive final word from New York State OPWDD.
