It is with great satisfaction we invite martial artists, enthusiasts, supporters, family, friends and associates to the 6TH ANNUAL ROCK SOLID
CHALLENGE - OPEN MARTIAL ARTS CHAMPIONSHIP & FITNESS FESTIVAL, Saturday, June 18th on the campus of Grove City
YMCA, Grove City, PA.
I am very pleased and excited to once again host the Rock Solid Challenge: a prestigious martial arts tournament that is quickly growing in
Western Pennsylvania. RSC is hosted at Grove City YMCA, a venue that is an outstanding location for our fabulous martial arts competitors.
Our goal is to provide a vehicle for all to come together in an atmosphere of camaraderie, integrity and good sportsmanship. Through our
tournament, circuit, promoters, black belts and supporters, we provide our competitors, spectators and VIPs an opportunity to participate in
an event guaranteed to excite and embellish the spirit of martial arts.
This year’s event will feature:

The Rock Solid Challenge is a proud member of the NBL, SKIL, SOMA, WOMAA, NMAC, and PKRA. With the support of these tremendous
organizations, our tournament will be filled with tremendous talent and exciting demonstrations of many martial art styles. Our Grand Championship will feature 12 Grand Champions.. Must Compete / Perform in Finals in Order to Win Any Grand Championship.

Conduct & Fines:
Martial arts is founded on DISCIPLINE & RESPECT. Please remember this
when attending any Martial Arts Event. Please note:
1. Swearing, etc.: $25 fine for EACH word
2. Unauthorized entry onto competition floor
3. Crossing (over/under) competition barriers
4. Arguing with tournament staff, referees, and/or arbitrators will
promptly call for fines listed in SKITA rulebook, appendix J, page 39.

Judges, Referees & Staff:
Judges/Referees: Must attend at least one referee clinic. You will receive a
pass (valid for entry into tournament and coaching) and a meal. Pre-selected
judges will receive a complimentary spectator pass. IMPORTANT: Please
know the SKITA rules. It is essential that you have a working knowledge of
the Judging/Referee criteria in order to provide fair and concise judgment to
the competing Martial Artist.

Rules, Fines, & Arbitrations:
Sport Karate International Tournament Alliance (SKITA) rules will be used in
all black belt and under belt divisions. All black belt and under black belt
players must enter divisions based upon the age they were on January 1,
2015 at 12:01 am. See exceptions - Rules at a Glance under FORMS on page
6, or SKITA rulebook V.B.4. SKITA rulebooks are available by mail from the
NBL with a 9”x12” SASE with $1.50 US postage for US delivery, or from the
website www.nblskil.com (then click SKITA). All Arbitrations require a $30
CASH fee, BEFORE the process begins. (All fines according to SKITA
rulebook). If you win the arbitration you will receive your fee back. If you lose,
you will not. Under Belts will follow the SKITA General Criteria.

CANNOT COMPETE IN ANY UNDERBELT
DIVISION - NO EXCEPTIONS!
JUNIOR UNDERBELTS: You can also compete in NBL Point Sparring
Divisions N-63 through N-75 AND/OR Continuous Sparring Divisions N-95
through N-107.
Anyone may compete in NBL divisions, however a blackbelt must be worn during
competition. (Blackbelt exceptions: 1. Team forms must have at least one black belt per
entry and the rest can be any rank, 2. Choreographed Fight SD players can be any rank,
3. Breaking players can be any rank, 4. Junior continuous players can be any rank but
nonblack belts must not wear a belt, 5. Junior team sparring players can be any rank, 6.
A junior player that has reached the highest rank before reaching black belt and is not
permitted to obtain a blackbelt as a youth in his school.) NBL divisions are intended for
players with tournament experience and “blackbelt” or highest level skills. Make your
choice to compete in NBL divisions accordingly. SKIL members are allowed to use wins
in NBL divisions toward their SKIL Blackbelt point totals on their SKIL point charts. All
blackbelt and under blackbelt players entering NBL divisions must enter based on the
age they were on January 1, 2015 at 12:00AM excepting that player who will be turning
18, 35, or 45 during the year are allowed to move up and compete in those divisions at
any time during the year or may compete at the same age that they were on the first day
of the year for the entire season (see Rules at a Glance in the brochure under FORMS 6
or SKITA rulebook V.B.4.). NBL player ratings are free.
(Note: A division labeled contemporary allows creative and open musical. No sound
effects or background music in choreographed divisions.)
RING ASSIGNMENT NOTES

THERE WILL BE NO ANNOUNCING DIVISIONS!
PAY ATTENTION TO RING SIGNS!
NO ANNOUNCING OF DIVISIONS: Most competitors will compete in one ring
all day. No running from ring to ring!
SKIL MEMBER POINTS: SKIL members are allowed to use wins in NBL
divisions toward their SKIL Blackbelt point charts.
AGE OF COMPETITOR: (Birth Certificates must be presented upon
request.) All blackbelt and underbelt players must enter divisions based upon
the age they were on January 1, 2016 at 12:01am, except those players who
turn 18, 35, 45 during the circuit season (NBL – January 1 - December 31/
SKIL - July 1 - June 30). These players are allowed to move up and compete
in those divisions, if the player will be turning that age during the circuit
season - see SKITA rulebook v.B.4.
BREAKING COMPETITORS: Must demonstrate at least five (5) attempted
breaks with at least one (1) being with a kick. Judging will be based on
complexity and completion of breaks. No dialogued skits, music or weapons
allowed. Each competitor must provide a tarp to cover the ring they break in.
All breaking materials must be cleared away from tournament site and
discarded. This is the player’s responsibility before any places/awards are
given.
FIRST AVAILABLE: All NBL Divisions not assigned a ring will be called
to first available rings.
RING ASSIGNMENT CHANGES: Ring assignments and layout subject to
change. Changes will be announced.
PERSONAL PROPERTY: Please do not leave bags/belongings
unattended in spectators’ area or on competition floor. RSC is not liable for
lost or stolen property.
