Finals in Focus Special Issue
Read all about Finals Weekend! But first, a lot goes on
behind the scenes, without which games would not happen. Our Captains Norman Mann and Val Luthwood
and their Vice-captains David Mann and Lynne Cooper have all done a sterling job throughout the season.
Thank you very much.
Although we have marked time in the various leagues, there have been some notable successes this
season. The men won the Border League Cup Final, winning by 4 shots against Lindfield on 15th August,
as pictured. The Ladies played in the Mole Valley Cup Final against Oxshott last Tuesday, postponed by
rain. Oxshott were just too strong and won on both rinks, but well done to our Ladies for making the final.
Finals Day Results
Here are as many results as we can
fit in the space.

The Mixed Invitation Day on Wed. 1st July was again a great success, A total of 12 teams competed on the
hottest day of 2015. Care was taken to provide parasols for shade and all enjoyed great bowling
complemented by a delicious lunch and cream tea. Reigate Priory came out winners with Epsom Park
runners up. Many thanks to all the organisers and to the men for helping.
We have reports on the Leagues, news and photos of Finals Weekend and events coming up. Please

Finals Weekend Report
The weather perked up and we
had a sunny start, but Saturday
afternoon turned very wet but the
bowlers all triumphed. Sunday
was at least dry and superb bowling ensued. There were many
heart stopping moments in
games, some so close that it was
impossible to predict the outcome. The Ladies’ Championship
game between Sonia and Colleen turned into a battle for the
last point, eventually won by
Sonia 21-19. Ron put on a display of fine bowling to overcome
Peter 21-10 in the Men’s Championship.

League Summaries
Men’s East Surrey League (4 rinks) Won 5
and lost 8, with one to go on Sunday. We are
currently in 5th position (sounds better than
3 from bottom) in Division 2, where we will
remain.
Neil put up a fine display against
Norman in the Men’ Handicap
but eventually Norman won
through 22-18. Neil and Lynne
were too strong in the Mixed
Pairs for Peter and Sue Revell.
Sue will have to invest in a hat!

Once again our competitions
were brilliantly organized from

Mann. It’s a lot of work so a big
thank you to you both!!

a fun game of bowls with a fish or
chicken supper. See Notice Board to
book.
Men’s Border League (3 Rinks) Played 10
won 6 lost 4. We finished 3rd 2 points behind
Reigate Priory who go up. But we won the
Border League Cup Final against Lindfield
by 4 shots. See photo below.
Men’s New Surrey League (3 Triples) Won 2
and lost 3 matches, with 2 to play. We are
just below the middle of the Table so there is
room for improvement here next season!
North Downs Mixed League (3 Triples)
Played 11 matches and expect to be 2nd or
top in the league, depending upon a play off
against Reigate Priory in a presentation
match next week.
Ladies’ Mid Surrey League (2 Rinks) Lying
mid table but we may slip down as we had to
cancel a match and were penalised 4 points
and 15 shots.
Ladies’ Mole Valley Cup Final We played
at Bookham against Oxshott.. We were
runners up losing on both rinks against a
very strong Oxshott team. Thank you Val as
Organiser of MV Cup for all your work to
