NEW REGISTRATION GUIDELINES
WA Youth Soccer has adopted the new US Soccer guidelines for team formation. Teams will be formed by birth
year instead of by school year.
NYSA will follow strict birth year team formation for all U6-U10 players (birth years: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010,
2011) for the 2016/2017 season. This means any existing teams from those age levels will be reformed by birth
year. When teams are reformed, every effort will be made to keep as many team members together as possible.
NYSA will grandfather teams U12 and above. (U10 in 2015 will be U12 in 2016, etc.) These teams can continue
to play together on the same team. Other associations in King and Snohomish Counties are following similar
guidelines.
NYSA will be holding several information nights to explain the new birth year team formation and how it may or
may not affect your team.

cleats, shin guards and a soccer ball at the beginning of the season.

The U-06 Program
Player Status
Born in 2011? Sign up for U-06!
Player Status = Pending
A player’s status will be pending if we
have not received your payment and/or
a copy of a certified birth certificate or
passport. It may also be pending if you
are requesting a reduced fee. Your
player will not be placed on a team if
their Status=Pending.
The U6 (Under 6) players are grouped into small teams of 5-6
players with a volunteer parent coach. They practice and play
one evening a week for one hour.
The U6 season starts in September and the program runs for 8
weeks. The boys will play on Tuesday nights beginning 9/13/16
and the girls will be on Thursday nights starting 9/15/16. The
sessions start at either 5:30 or 6:30pm.
The first half hour is devoted to learning skills and the second
half hour they play their match against another team. The main
focus is to have FUN.
As with all NYSA recreational teams, parents who volunteer to
coach are given free training, and U6 teams also have mentor
coaches at the fields to help them. It is a great opportunity for
all to learn soccer!

Player Status = Registered
Registered means we have received
both payment and proof of age, but
team placement has not yet been completed.
Player Status = Rostered
A player’s status will be rostered if they
requested the same team as last year
and their registration is complete.
Player Status can be viewed on the
NYSA website at Parent/Players.
Registration FAQ’s
Do I have my SiteName for the website?
Returning Parent: Your Site Name is generally your first name, last name. Sometimes it includes a middle initial. Only parents can register players, so using your child’s name to log on will not work. If you don’t remember your Site Name or
password, click on Logon/Reset Password. If you need to email the NYSA office for assistance, please include your name,
the player’s name, and your phone number.
New Parent: Parents who are new to NYSA need to first create their own NYSA account by clicking on Logon/Join NYSA.
Once your account is set up (which may take a few days), you can logon to the website and begin the registration process
described on page 2. If this is your first time to log on to the NYSA website, you will be asked to agree to the Member
Agreement, and the Parent Agreement before you can proceed. You may also need to click “confirm” to verify your address, phone and/or email.
Registration Deadline?
Open Registration is April 1 to May 31. Registration is complete when payment and all paperwork is received (by June 5).
Players with unpaid fees or missing proof of birth after June 5 will be considered late and are not guaranteed a spot on a
team. Registration continues after May 31 and goes into September or until teams are filled.
If I register at the beginning of Open Registration (April 1) can I get the team I want?
There is no rush to register at midnight on April 1st. Team placement priority is the same for all new players who register
between April 1 and May 31. If too many players request the same team, then NYSA uses a Priority System to determine
which players fill the spots. Returning players who request team reassignments and returning players from disbanded
teams who register between April 1 and May 31, do have a higher priority than new players.
PAPER forms?
We think online registration is the fastest, but to get a paper form go to Information: Registration to print out a form.
What if our coach is not returning to the team?
Even if your coach is not returning to your specific team, your team can still request to play together as long as enough
players register between April 1 and May 31. Talk to the other parents. Your club representative will work with you to secure a new coach.
What happens to a team with not enough players?
If a team disbands due to low numbers, players who have registered back to their previous team between April 1 and May
31 are placed on other teams in their club before any other player. This means players whose team is no longer viable receive priority placement over those requesting transfers. So, if you think the team “might” disband, register back to your old
team and list your team preference in the “Comments/Registration Request” section.
What if I want a different team from last year?
If you are interested in a team reassignment, please choose a team from the dropdown menu or make a note in the Comments section. For more information, please review the Parent: FAQ/ Requesting a Team on our website.
With the birth year change, can I play at my birth year instead of with my team from last
year?
Yes, for birth years, 1998-2004. Players from birth years 2005-2011 will only be grouped with other players from the same
birth year.
My Select/Premier player would like to play on a Rec team:
If you participated in FC Alliance (FCA) or Northshore Select (NSC) during the 2015-16 season and have decided to return
to a recreational team, please contact the NYSA office prior to completing the online registration.
How can I send NYSA documents?
Documents such as Birth Certificates can be mailed, emailed or faxed to the NYSA Office. You can also upload documents
to the NYSA website at Parent: Paperwork-Upload. NYSA fax # is 425 489-2765.
If you have a camera phone, you can also take a picture of the document to email. Email to either:
[email protected] or [email protected].

This is a good opportunity for your son or daughter to get out and work with some great
coaches. The focus of this camp will be on improving technical skills (ball handling, passing,
receiving, and shooting) in a challenging, but FUN environment. Each session will include
small-sided games to promote and encourage proper technique in a competitive environment.
This camp is also a good way to get additional touches on the ball in preparation for tryouts!

NSC U10 through U18 Players
NORTHSHORE SELECT CLUB (NSC) is the “select” club within
NYSA that offers a middle ground between recreational and premier soccer. Aimed at the multi-sport/activity athlete, the program
strives to provide a balanced commitment of time and money with
the opportunity to develop skills to play competitive soccer. NSC is
generally a six month program starting in June and lasting into December each year, with some teams choosing to play in the post
season Founders Cup (Select WA State Tournament) which lasts
through January/early February. High school girls teams aged U15
-U18/19 may play summer tournaments, take a break for the scholastic soccer season (Sept to Oct), and then play a regular season
from mid-December to late March with the option of post season
Founders Cup.
